While only a few days had passed in the cells beneath the cold gaze of the strange, toxic Pokemon, bits of trauma still remained. Shoveling sickeningly sweet mochi into her face, finding herself faced with her greatest desires in the CHAMBER OF DESIRES, and the stifling mask clinging to her face.

Some nights, Diana would find herself waking up gasping for air, with her hand at her throat as if the toxic chain was still pulling her to the jail cell. She'd wonder if the her experience was all a dream.

Though the scars on her legs were proof enough that the prison escape had happened. It had taken a long time for them to heal to the point they were now, beginning to lose their pink color and fade away into her skin tone. The doctor had said that the healing from the NIHILEGO attack was delayed due to the influx of poison she'd endured in the prison.

"Ugly. You're ugly. That's why FEZANDIPITI picked you. And now it has left its mark on you. Ugly. Ugly!"

Diana paused her needlepoint, breathing deeply through her nose and out her mouth as she peered forward. The haunting jeers of her fellow prisoners echoed in her mind, leading her to pull the blanket she had over her legs tighter over her. The less she could see them, the more she could try to ignore it.

Then there was something else she could not ignore: Remiel Calcifet. Though they lived together, they had not had time to discuss the events of the penitentiary or the rising tension in Hoenn. Diana was healing, and he was a busy man. He represented the League, as ZEKROM'S avatar, and he worked dutifully to separate himself from whatever had happened before she arrived. Yet, there was tension between them as well.

"I've already lost somebody I loved to the MEGALOPOLANS. I won't lose you, too."

She sighed, peering almost sadly at her needlepoint incomplete in her lap. "Remiel? Do you mind brewing a pot of tea?" she asked, raising the fabric up to inspect it. "Not good enough. I may have to restart this pattern..."

How had Remiel Calcifet coped with what he had endured in that hellish prison? To the outside observer, it seemed as though he'd put the whole ordeal behind him. Even it had taken several days— almost a week, in fact— of rest and solitary time to regain his mental composure.[break][break]

But no one could have come out from that kind of trauma unscathed. Even the exiled prince had demons he'd purposefully locked away. A persistent gnawing in the pit of his stomach that wouldn't go away. Truth be told, he wasn't exactly sure how to rid himself of it besides his usual distractions.[break][break]

Today, instead of work, he'd opted to pick up a new book (something titled Gods, Graves, and Scholars) and stay at home for a good read. Diana Cavendish and he hadn't spoken much about what had happened either, and he expected them not to. As far as he knew, she was processing her traumas the same way he was: distractions.[break][break]

Sitting in his lounge chair by the fireplace, the royal pauses from his literature to look up at her past his spectacled glasses. "Some tea? That'd be marvelous." He responds, turning to a dormant teacup on the small round table beside him. "EARL, would you kindly brew us some Turrfield Gold? A cube of sugar and a spot of cream for me. You know how I like it."[break][break]

With a twirl, the ILLUMINA SINISTEA comes to life again before happily drifting off into the kitchen. As the poltergeist activity there commences, lifting fine China in the air with a ghostly purple aura, Remiel turns his attention back to Diana. "What are you making there?" He inquires, resting his book on his lap.[break][break]

"This?" She held up the stiff canvas, held in place by the embroidery hoop. It was a small piece, not requiring her scroll frame. "It's the flowers I used to see outside home. You know, that field to the east?"

But they didn't seem right. Had she forgotten them already?

She pulled the fabric from the hoop, discarding it for another piece. Her fingers began to work again, placing thread through the canvas meticulously.

"What have you been doing recently? You've been out of the house often lately."

"Ah, yes," Remiel responds, squinting briefly at the partially finished work. Though truth be told, he'd be gone longer from GALAR. He hardly remembered the flowers himself. "Quite beautiful."[BREAK][BREAK]

He notices her rework but doesn't think much about it as he prepares to return to his book. That is until Diana inquires about his whereabouts as of late. With a deep breath, the crown prince sets his book down on his lap again. "I... I needed to clear my head after everything that happened. So I've been at work, mostly." He admits, distractedly gazing out the window at the trees.[BREAK][BREAK]

The powerlessness he'd felt was not something he could forget so easily, however.[BREAK][BREAK]

[attr="class","diana"]Remiel felt distant. He didn't feel present with her, like he was a million miles away from her instead of sitting a mere five feet away in the chair. Diana deflated, looking back sadly at her work.

"Thank you," she whispered to the glowing sinistea, holding the cup in her hands as she stared down at her reflection.

The ceramic burned her fingers, and yet, she didn't put it down. Her blue gaze was locked onto her reflection, distorted in the cup of tea. "Ugly. Disgusting. Useless. Worthless."

Pitiful."

Nausea rose in her throat as she set it aside perhaps a bit too quickly the tea threatening to slosh over the edge like a tidal wave. She swallowed before speaking again.

"It's been..." she trailed. "Quite lonely."

Perhaps FEZANDIPITI was right.

Diana set her work aside given her grip was so tight, it was threatening to puncture the canvas. "Can I ask you something?"

She didn't hesitate or wait for his answer. "Those Megaloplans. Why did you want to kill them?"

Remiel is snapped out of his window gazing when Earl Grey returns, smoothly floating over a cup of steaming tea with its ghostly telekinesis. He thanks the little butler with a nod, taking the teacup with two fingers before acknowledging Diana's question with a troubled look. After a reluctant pause, he answers with a question of his own.[BREAK][BREAK]

"You didn't agree, I take it?" He asks, setting his teacup down on the side table to keep it from fogging his glasses as it cools down. "Given our situation at that moment... it seemed the right thing to do. Especially after everything we'd been put through." The exiled royal adds with a cold and nonchalant expression on his stoic face.[BREAK][BREAK]

After everything they'd put you through.
