[break][break] The Head Ranger's voice calls over the water, a scuba-diver mask affixed to his face. When they had called for the Rangers to investigate the submerged Research Facility, Ollie knew that there would be no one better than paxton concordas for the task. Although he had an important job now at the HBIC, he was sure that Paxton's background in Archeology would come to use.

He still has equipment form the underwater dig he'd arranged a couple years ago. The water proof headlamps are easy enough to gather, and Streenstrup is in top form. The operation had been interesting, a nice change of pace from all the war front tensions. He'd agreed without hesitation.

Paxton still hadn't resurfaced, digging carefully and searching as Streenstrup crumpled up and squeezed through openings on the hunt for something valuable. "Same here guys. But Streenstrup's excited to find out." he said as the shadow octillery suddenly darted away after a good pause. "Oh- think she's caught a trial of...something." he said swimming after his octopus and blinking his light towards fellow divers.

[break][break] Ollie still worried for her, especially after what had happened on that Megalopolan ship. He turned to paxton concordas.

[break][break] "Oh, that's great!" He finished putting on his gear and then entered the water alongside them both, joining his Anorith in the water as well.

[break][break] The Anorith clicked in agreement, then dove deeper into the water, leading the way toward a cluster of kelp fronds.

it gets darker and colder the deeper she goes. her lanturn provides light off its angler as it swims beside her, but it scatters uselessly in the murky ocean. she doesn't need to see that well — she's looking for sea mauville. its large, sinking silhouette can be discerned even without adequate light. she swims up to it, palms grazing metal as she looks for an opening. [break][break]oh.[break][break]her fingers curl over ruined hull. [break][break]what did this?[break][break]she propels herself into the hole.

Paxton double checks they all have adequate gear, going a glance over at his companions even as they swim and pull away. Streenstrup glides after Annalise, yellow eyes staring at the light that is her and her Lanturn and turning to give one glance at Paxton before following her. She knows what to do. Paxton waits a beat for Ollie before they pull through.

As they delve deeper into the sinking sanctuary he speaks quietly in the comms. "We should try to be sneaky." he warned as Anna took point. As sneaky as 3 blind humans with blinding lights could be.

Being sneaky was a good idea. One that Ollie would've suggested himself, if he didn't already see annalise henderson barrel her way into a foreign opening.

As the Basculin is dealt with Streensturp pushes on before they reach a small clearing. There's multiple way through, liek streets and a busy intersection. His Octillery takes a moment to look through, the area too calm for comfort. "Wait- what if there's more. Basculin usually roam in packs right?" he asked as the octopus ran tentacles through the delicate structure and floors. She unearths crates of some kind but no ambush, so far.

"We're here to salvage right?" he asked as his Octillery paused her search to report in.

[break][break] He grinned goodnaturedly — a common joke between the two of them, ever since the other's duties towards the council and PENELOPE LIVY had drawn him away from the grind of everyday Ranger work. But Ollie still missed their regular hang-outs, not to say their monthly meetings didn't make up for that in some way or form.

[break][break] The Lanturn trilled in acknowledgement, before zipping away to do just that. Meanwhile, Ollie pointed at at the discovery that had nearly taken annalise henderson's life — a hard-drive lodged in between some kelp.

[break][break] The league scientists would be super thrilled to know that they'd been able to recover days - maybe even weeks - of important data. His thoughts went to illeana reyes in particular.

Paxton only lets out a huff that in good company, can be taken as a tired laugh. He would be more at ease when they weren't underwater and at risk of getting trapped by steal beams and chunks of concrete. "I'd do it if you put me on solo patrol again." he said, knowing danwell that was far below his pay grade now. His time focused more on reviewing intelligence reports and handling the minutia that came with overseeing PROJECT SAPPHIRE.

Streenstrup spits out a couple of gunk shots where she suspects movement but nothing heinous comes out. She blows some bubbles and floats closer to the trio, eyes still on potential entrances for wild pokemon. Paxton looks down, receiving what he knew was Streenstrup's version of a thumbs up. He returns it before looking at their find. "It'll be a pain in the ass to extract but...I think our scientists could pull from this with enough time and caffeine." he said as they pocketed the drive. He looks through the nearby kelp to see if anything is left, carefully shifting wavy knots of plant to double check. "Wonder if there's a bit more of if that fell off something else."

her interruption makes the ranger negotiation between paxton and ollie fall apart. solo patrols sound like something the officer would enjoy, but now the offer is as lost as everything down in the dark belly of sea mauville. she examines the hard drive in her hands as he speaks, wondering just how much caffeine they'll need to extract data out of something that's been sitting in water for this long.
