Getting hurt was nothing new for him. It was how his father showed his 'discipline.' Yet usually when him or his brother misbehaved and they were being 'punished' it didn't hurt this much. Before it would be things like a slap on the cheek or wrist, or grabbing their arm and squeeze until they were able to tell him the lesson they've learned and more often left a bruise to nurse later. [break][break]

But it was deserved, if they just didn't do bad they wouldn't be hurt. All they had to do was behave and everything was fine. Yet punishment today felt so much worse. Everything had been worse since they turned 10 and were forced to survive on that island for the month. They've been told it was to prepare for the war Rocket was to have on the region that they were now old enough to start taking part in. Asriel was to go under their mother's wing and learn and train for the field and while he would be given the same responsibility but he would mostly be focused in helping his father within his labs now that he's taken the rank of 'Head Scientist.' [break][break]

Raziel had apparently shown 'disrespect' when he argued with one of his men and a 'correction' need to be made. The night before ending up so bad that he was excused from his duties for the day and Pryde and called jayden cross to come over and look after him. Leaving a note of the usual rules and as well as what lessons needed to be completed by the time he was home. [break][break]

When the young man would let himself in he would hear the tv on in the front room. Of course keeping to his father's 'only educational television was allowed' so an episode of 'How its Made' was on in the background as on the coffee table were books and papers for his homework. On full display would be the injuries he had sustained from his father's 'correction.' Raziel wouldn't have said anything though, seemly too lost in thought to realize the teen to even be there.

[break][break] Dmitri's son made his way through the threshold of Raphael Pryde's home, shuffling his shoes off. His feet were silent against the carpet - as his father had taught him how to do, or was currently teaching him how to do.

[break][break] Though whatever sound he made wasn't noticed under the buzz of the television, where he found his friend. Violet eyes glanced around for signs of Asriel Pryde, only to be disappointed to find that the other twin wasn't here.

The throbbing pain makes it difficult to focus, neither on the TV or his homework and he wishes he could just go back to sleep. But he worries what would happen if he doesn't get through the amount left for him it'll just make things worse. He's done this stuff before he knows it so why was it so hard to focus now? Though the hand suddenly in front of him freaks him out and he flinches away, a mistake as his body is still sore and he has to hold his chest for a moment. [break][break]

"H-hey Jayden... sorry uhhh... when... when did you get here?" how long was he stuck in his head? Wasn't the first time his father had asked the older kid to come but it still felt weird when a non-adult came, but at least this face was a friend of his and not his dad's.

"Just the workbook, the homework is for later," he mumbles as he just taps the pencils' eraser against the workbook. Normally he would already be done with this quick enough, Raziel was always able to pick up on new things quickly when his father introduced new topics. "Dad says the other stuff wasn't challenging enough for me so he bumped me again, but we haven't had the time to go over much of this so it feels hard," he grumbles feeling it unfair to expect all this from him but not his brother. "Everything feels harder," he comments as his brother and him were now being required to train to one day be soldiers for Rocket. And for the moment he's not sure if he'll be able to keep up. That's when he finally looks over to the older kid. [break][break]

"So it always just... remains the same? Does training not make it easier? Do you even get training? Like I know mom gives us exercises, and dad says that eventually we're suppose to go under some guy for 'proper' training that mom can't provide," Raziel kept going on his mind clearly thinking too much about what was to come and not really on the workbook which was no doubt added more stress. Yet Jayden had been on this for longer than him and his brother right? So surely looking ahead at him could help understand how this was all meant to go.[break][break]

His questions only give pause when the other just gives him the answer to the question he had been stuck with and his brows furrow at it. "I don't get it," he grumbles not seeing the equation within the word problem. With a huff he tries to rest his cheek on his hand to try and think it through just to flinch due to the pain due to his injuries.

"I have yeah," he will not mention out loud how creepy the older man is because in the end that was still Jayden's dad and his mom's friend. "But that's what I mean, like does training make it easier? For missions to come and stuff? What kind of missions have you done? Does your dad teach you or are you also under someone else?" he can't help but question wanting to just avoid doing his work for now. Sure he fears the consequences if he doesn't get it done [break][break]

At the mention of their brothers Raziel can't help but be proud but also have pity. He loved his brother, he has almost little to no doubt that they wouldn't have survived the island without him. Yet the mood feels like it changes at the mention of the other's brother. "Yeah well you have us, we can be like your unofficial younger brothers," he says with a smile once again wincing from the pain in his cheek.

"Really Gavin?" Raziel can't help but blink at him as he tilts his head slightly, he's recently met the man in his dad's lab but Cillian Quinn didn't seem like the type that could fight. Though according to his mom most of dad's men seemed like a bunch of 'pencil pushing pansies.' "He seems like he's too timid to fight," he can't help but comment as he tries to think of the blond man from the labs. He hasn't gotten to know him too much yet so maybe he could be wrong there. "Though dad says that Asriel and I are going to be put under someone else to train soon enough, I thiiiiink its suppose to be that other guy you mentioned." [break][break]

"I mean you're dad doesn't seem to mind my parents so maybe that's okay?" he questions before he tries to think about the other's question. If he's being honest he doesn't know what it would mean. It's always just been him and Asriel Pryde so what would calling the other their brother mean? "Uhhhhh well... I mean if nothing else it means you have our support?" he claims though he isn't sure how much that means to Jayden. "Cause if anyone understands what you're going through it would be us right?"

His thoughts returned to Victoria Beckett, his daughter, and the girl who seemed to have no problems breaking into his room and asking whatever she wanted — even when he had no answers for her. "And he has a daughter too, one that's around our age. Her name's Tori."

"Yeah timid, the guy kinda just walks around the lab with his head down and stuff," though in Gavin's defense Raziel hadn't been in the labs too long so these were all just simple first impressions. It would be later on when he finally gets the reason why the man is how he is. [Break][break]

He gives a small chuckle when he hears about Theo, if Jayden says he's good then surely it'll be alright. "Well he can't be any worse than my mom," he comments as at least for him it always felt that she would ridicule him for his efforts. Maybe with someone else teaching him he could actually improve.[break][break]

"Cool to know another kid, but I doubt dad would let me interact with her, you know how he is" he says giving a shrug. Though it's also not until much later where he'd learn that his experience with Victoria Beckett would be much different than his or his brother's. [Break][break]

"yeah well having an actual older brother sounds fun too," he'll lean into the other as if telling a secret, "Don't let Asriel fool you, just cause he has 10 minutes on me does not make him older," he whispers in a playful defiance. Giving a nod about the other having his back. [Break][break]

Maybe things in Rocket wouldn't be so bad so long as he could keep his brother's and jayden cross's support.
