         Phoenix stood tall and defiant, her foot tapping impatiently against the ground as she longed to dive into the fray. Her heart raced, her fingers tingled with anticipation, but she refused to abandon her post. She had been stationed here for a reason, and she was determined to protect it, no matter how badly she wanted to charge forward. This wasn’t just any battle for her—it was a test, a chance to prove her strength after disappearing for months of intense, isolated training. She had returned sharper, stronger, with a chip on her shoulder and something to prove.

Beside her stood her trusted Pokémon: Ceruledge and Armarouge. The two stood like sentinels, embodying the same burning determination as as her. Ceruledge’s swords gleamed in the faint light, while Armarouge’s armor radiated an intense, fiery energy. They were ready, just as eager as Phoenix to face whatever challenge lay ahead. Both Pokémon mirrored her posture—tense, focused, and hungry for battle.

Her eyes narrowed beneath her mask as she vigilantly scanned the area equally ready for whatever was coming. The tension was thick, and Phoenix could feel in her bones that an opponent would arrive soon. Her instincts, honed from countless battles, were never wrong. And then she saw it—the approach of a familiar figure.

A grin twisted beneath Phoenix's mask, though no one could see it. The thrill of facing off against royalty never failed to excite her. Elise wasn’t just another trainer—she was her rival, a constant thorn in her side, someone she would chase to the ends of the earth and back for one more fight.

With Ceruledge’s blazing swords raised and Armarouge’s fists crackling with energy, Phoenix’s voice dripped with a mix of arrogance and challenge as she stepped forward, her words meant to cut deep. "So we meet again, princess. I’ve been wondering when you’d finally show your face. Took you long enough."

She tilted her head slightly, mocking her opponent’s stature as Ceruledge let out a low growl, its swords flashing menacingly, and Armarouge took a step forward, the ground beneath it scorched from its heat. "You look nervous. Are you afraid this time? Afraid of losing? Because you should be. I've been training, and I'm not the same person you battled last time."

Phoenix stepped forward again, her voice lowering as she leaned in, her taunt sharp and deliberate, with her Pokémon mirroring her every movement. "This time, I’m going to make sure you remember exactly who you’re dealing with. You might be a princess, but out here, you're just another trainer for me to crush."

Though she had a lot to learn in strategies when it came to battling, the Galarian royal had made sure to prepare and train her Pokemon for her upcoming fight with the same Rocket lady that had injured her. No, she wasn’t going to be injured again and that could be an outcome that can happen during the fight. The royal is a Ranger Captain now, she outranked her cousin more ways than one.[break][break]

Because Rustboro’s her responsibility, she has to protect her domain.[break][break]

Her Mismagius and Gengar came with her when the masked Rocket challenges her with a Ceruledge and Armarouge. “I’m not nervous anymore and I trained just like you. Like Remiel, I trained hard to get to where I am now.” Purple eyes from the royal ambassador narrow at the words of the masked Rocket. “I didn’t want to keep you waiting for our rematch, Rocket.”[break][break]

The word spits out her mouth like a fire. This lady gloated that Elise is just a trainer to crush, an ant in the sand for a boot to squish.[break][break]

“Really? Am I just another trainer for you to crush?” A scoff came from the royal ambassador while her two ghosts stand ready to defend her. “I think you are the one who isn’t confident enough that you can win.”

Someday, the mask would slip, and the truth would be revealed, but that day was not today. The woman kept her predatory glare and snorted. Yes, this would do if Elise fought with she had this more fun.[break][break] The tension was thick she was the fire and Elise was ice. She wasn't afraid she comeback the princess everything she had at her. Her victory would that much sweeter. She would never back down or lose her composure. She had to deal with worse and still made it on top.[break][break]

Meanwhile, Helios takes the lead, summoning a flickering flame with Will-O-Wisp that dances like a wildfire in the night, seeking to ensnare the Mismagius. She gets a more scathing reply from the masked Rocket and this lady was confident enough that she’d win. “I will see how much you’ve trained then. I think you are the type to think that just because I am royalty, my skill in Pokemon battling would be second rate.” Her venom would just be as poisonous, especially to a Rocket that had injured her before. This Rocket would not have her mercy. Elise will protect Rustboro City with her Pokemon.[break][break]

“Phantom Force and watch out for her Armarouge’s Psyshock.” Elise gives her command to her trusty Mismagius as the witch-like ghost disappears in avoiding the Psyshock from the Armarouge. “Kage, attack her Ceruledge with Shadow Ball.” A dark laugh comes from the male Gengar and he follows his mistress’ order to her exact specifics.[break][break]

Creating a Shadow Ball in his hands, the Gengar throws the sphere of ghostly energy when the Ceruledge’s Shadow Claw would hit him. He skids across the ground a little and grimaces from the blade's pain.[break][break]

"I've crawled through the same dirt, felt the sting of the same bitter struggle. Don't fool yourself into thinking your noble blood sets you apart from me. We're not so different—except I learned to turn my pain into power." [break][break]

Calida hissed as Gengar’s Shadow Ball hit her squarely, sending her sliding back a few feet. The blow didn’t faze her for long. With the discipline drilled into her during her brutal training, she remained stoic, her gaze locked on her opponent. Phoenix’s orders echoed in her mind. There was no room for hesitation. She retaliated swiftly, launching a flicker of Will-O-Wisp, the ghostly flames dancing toward Gengar, ready to burn through its smug expression. Then, with a powerful surge, Calida used Flame Charge, her entire form blazing as she shot forward, the fiery streak in her wake increasing her speed with every stride. She moved like a streak of vengeance, aiming to trap the Gengar in a whirlwind of burning fury.[break][break]

Meanwhile, Helios blinked, scanning the battlefield as the witch-like Misdreavus vanished, slipping into the shadows with Phantom Force. He paused, his instincts honed by years of tactical battles under Phoenix’s command. He knew not to react rashly. They were not very different from each other in terms of upbringing. She doesn’t think that her status makes her special to people and other people here in Hoenn wouldn’t give her special treatment. That was fine, she liked being treated normally instead of people bowing to her.[break][break]

“I don’t think my royal status makes me special and people don’t have to treat me this way here.” She’ll calmly state while the bubbling bitterness from the other Rocket lady is clear. “But I turned my own hardship, the verbal abuse from my aunt, into the sympathy I feel for the Galarian people. I’d fight for them.”[break][break]

Some people would question why she’s in Hoenn. They think that she has abandoned them, but she showed that she still fought for them here even when she is far away from the nation she would care about. Elise had been this far in allying with the League for that reason other than the proposed alliance her country had with its government.[break][break]

When the Mismagius strikes her Phantom Force onto the Armarouge, her phantasmal strikes would go harder. She’d expect the male fire type to attack her too, judging by how he was charging up a psychic energy. As the Ceruledge sends her Will-O-Wisps towards Kage, he throws in a Toxic puddle to try to poison the ghost and fire type. [break][break]

Flame Charge from the female Ceruledge hits the Gengar and he loses the grin on his face. A look of anger comes from the ghost and he launches a Dark Pulse in return. Pulsating black energy comes from the dark thoughts that the Gengar feels towards his ghostly opponent.

        Phoenix couldn’t only roll her eyes harder. "Sympathy?. Do you really think the Galarian people are waiting for some privileged royal to swoop in and save the day with a heart full of charity? Newsflash, sweetheart—nobody asked for your pity. Your so-called hardships are nothing compared to the reality most people face every day." Her voice dripped with bitterness, a thin veil for the deeper scars she refused to acknowledge. Elise had lived a good, honest life, loved unconditionally, surrounded by those she cherished. Everything that poor, broken Phoenix had never experienced. Maybe that was why she burned so brightly with contempt, unable to bear the hypocrisy in her own judgment. [break][break]

"You think turning your aunt's harsh words into some 'sympathy' makes you a hero? Please. You're just another sheltered royal pretending to understand a world you can't even begin to grasp. The Galarian people don't need you to fight for them—they need someone who doesn’t hide behind their status or sob story.."[break][break]

As Phoenix's venomous words hung in the air, she felt her own wounds flare beneath the surface. She had every right to be wary of Elise, of anyone who wore their good fortune so openly, as if they deserved it. But her anger came not from Elise’s privilege alone—it came from her own pain, the nightmares that never ceased.[break][break]


Even her fire knight, Helios, mirrored her turmoil, no sooner did Mana’s phantom force stuck he felt he had little energy left to remain stronger but still he would persist right into every end. The knight sneered with only a single thought in his mind. Burn! The Armarouge erupting in flames that would scorch everything in their path, friend and foe alike. If it weren’t for Calida’s Flash Fire ability, the flames would have consumed her too.[break][break]

The ceruledge barely has time registered; the Dark Pulse aimed her way, refusing to show weakness even as it drained her strength. Eyes locked on the Gengar, she lunged forward, her flames dancing with reckless intensity, hoping to trap her opponent before he could slip away.

Once when Elise was a child, she was a pampered girl who had a very troublesome mindset. She has seen her father try and help people in need outside of the Calcifet Palace when they visited, but she never thought of it. Her thought was that nobility didn’t have an obligation to help the people…until that slowly changed over Elise’s first arrival to Hoenn.[break][break]

Because people there wouldn’t treat her any different. That she was just a person to them and she had seen firsthand how those people lived and suffered under Rocket. [break][break]

“I thought like that once when I was very young. My thought was that the nobility didn’t have the obligation to go out and help people outside of their opulent walls.” Elise felt terrible back then, she didn’t like her past self much now. “But when I lived here in Hoenn for a year and had the honor of helping at the Petalburg General Hospital, I learned something from both my father and the League’s Calyrex.”[break][break]

Her past was behind her as the future changes with each year.[break][break]

“They both taught me that I should humble myself beneath my people. It is a lesson I carry now, one that will help me in my path to becoming a good ruler just like my late uncle.”[break][break]

At the fighting that her two ghosts were in, the Lava Plume that comes from the Armarouge came with the fiery plumes bouncing off the Protective barrier that Kage uses to protect himself and the ambassador. Phantom Force hits the Armarouge as the female Mismagius is hit by the Lava Plumes. [break][break]

Unluckily, the Gengar is hit by the trapping flames of the Fire Spin and he has to find a way out. Despite his situation, the Gengar still focuses on trying to take the Ceruledge out. A Shadow Ball comes from the Gengar’s hands as he throws it at the shadowy knight.[break][break]

Much like his trainer, the purple ghost is very determined to see that battle through.[break][break]

Mana follows her partner’s lead and creates a bolt of electricity that shoots towards the Armarouge. Thunderbolt’s light was the one that will bring their side to win against the two knights!

        Phoenix’s gaze narrowed, scrutinizing Elise with a glint of amusement. For all her righteous talk, Elise’s stubborn resolve was almost… impressive. Even as Phoenix’s barbed words sliced through the air, Elise stood unfazed, holding her ground with that quiet, noble strength of hers. But watching her Mismagius and Gengar’s attacks batter Phoenix’s knights only deepened Phoenix’s intrigue. Fine. Elise might have gotten the better of this round, but the real battle was only just beginning.[break][break]

A wild grin spread across Phoenix’s face, a glint of fire in her eyes. Her knights had fought valiantly, yet it was time for a new strategy. With a flourish, she recalled her battered Pokémon, tucking them safely back into their Poké Balls, and without hesitation, summoned her next pair of warriors. The air grew tense as two more Pokémon materialized,a shadow pokemon and paradox. These weren’t just any Pokémon; they were some of Phoenix’s strongest, bound to her will in ways that went beyond mere training.[break][break]

“Well, Elise, let’s see how that noble humility of yours fares against these two.” Her voice held an edge, the thrill of challenge and the sheer satisfaction of unleashing power unrestrained. “My knights might have been a mere prelude, but this? This is where the real test begins.”[break][break]

A spark of anticipation danced in Phoenix’s eyes as she watched Elise. “Think you can keep that noble head of yours held high when the true weight? Or are you ready to humble yourself before the power you can’t begin to understand?” The roaring moon wasted no time taking into the air looking among the two ghosts. It didn't that take on the Mismagius unleashed a bit of flames while shadow Alcremie chuckled blow a kiss to the gengar before she used a chilling breath from her mouth.

When the duo of knightly Pokemon go down, two new threats are released from their Pokeballs. A Roaring Moon and Shadow Alcremie were powerful Pokemon that made both her ghosts look like they were little toys. While the Armarouge and Ceruledge had put up a good fight, both of the disguised Rocket lady’s Pokemon would pose a bigger challenge than Elise thought.[break][break]

“I keep my head high as long as I can.” She said in confidence when the flames from the Roaring Moon make her Mismagius collapse in burns from the Flamethrower. Her Gengar gets a kiss from the shadowed cake-like Pokemon before a chilling Frost Breath takes out the tired ghost Pokemon.[break][break]

Returning both of her fainted ghost types, the ambassador knows that the battle was heating up now. She had taken all of the lessons that her gym challenges had given her and put them to this one fight.[break][break]

“Not a terrible win for you, you’ve definitely trained much since our last bout.” The Galarian ambassador speaks in respect too before she releases both the hare king and his ghostly steed, an ethereal Spectrier. “And I figure that if you are putting out your best Pokemon, I’d show you mine too.”[break][break]

The Calyrex shard gives a Helping Hand to the female Spectrier and he’ll attack the Roaring Moon with a Tri Attack as the tri-colored beam shoots out of the hare’s paws. Llamrei the Spectrier creates a Shadow Ball from her mouth and she launches it at the Shadow Alcremie.[break][break]

From the two legendary Pokemon, the hare king mimicked how the ambassador was doing her best to keep a composed and regal front, similar to the king that he was in the past. [break][break]

Like her shard, Elise too acts like a royal princess worthy of her aunt’s praise.

She had heard tales of the League’s legendary Calyrex, the fabled king of Galar, and its mighty steed. This wasn’t like Rocket's shadowed, twisted creations. Elise’s Calyrex was an entirely different beast, a true guardian, and this would be a real test of her might. "The king and it's steed. This should be a good show!"[break][break]

Her Roaring Moon sneered at the sight of its opponent, sizing it up with sharp, calculating eyes before lunging forward, ready to prove its strength. It circled Calyrex, weaving through the air to dodge the tri-attack, and then, with a fierce gleam in its eyes, unleashed a relentless barrage of fire upon the legendary. This Paradox Pokémon wasn’t about to let up—this was its fight to dominate. That's how Mirabella taught it to be no better than the train herself and she couldn't be more proud. "Believe that more to these two than meets the eye."[break][break]

Meanwhile, Phoenix’s Shadow Alcremie engaged in an elegant yet brutal dance with Elise’s Spectrier. The spectral horse hurled a Shadow Ball, and Alcremie absorbed the hit, tilting its head back with eerie calm, a faint glow marking where the attack had landed. Recovering swiftly, the shadowed Pokémon retaliated with a dazzling, almost blinding Gleam, twisting light into something lethal. Despite its corruption, Alcremie shone with defiant brilliance, refusing to be dulled, its radiance rivaling the stars.

The events of being in the Prismatic Penitentiary had made the Galarian ambassador utterly terrified of hurting people. She had almost killed the Megalopolan general and her Pecharunt and had her friend not stopped her, she would be no better than her elder cousin, the Prime Minister. A reluctance to fight had been born from her greatest fear and Rocket would be all too happy to capitalize on it. [break][break]

After seeing her cousin and getting hurt by Rocket who were two people that she cared about a lot. The latter being her lover, a knight that swore to be her sword and shield. She can’t hesitate now, it was Rocket that hurt the people she cared about![break][break]

“They should pose a good challenge. Both of them are legendaries after all.” The ambassador said while the Alcremie’s Dazzling Gleam blinds the area with light. She knows that the king and his noble steed will be able to put up a good fight against a Paradox Pokemon and a Shadow one.[break][break]

The female Spectrier disappears into the air with Phantom Force in an effort to avoid the Dazzling Gleam. The light from the Shadow Alcremie’s attack makes the Calyrex shard shut his eyes from the pain.[break][break]

Charles knows that the Flamethrower’s Fire typing will be his weakness. A Protective barrier surrounds the small hare king as it careens the Flamethrower into the nearby tall grass. Fire burns through the grass’ blades.[break][break]

In return, the shard charges up a verdant colored ball of energy. He throws the Energy Ball at the flying Roaring Moon when he counts on the Spectrier to deal with the Shadow Alcremie.[break][break]

“A Rocket hurt the man that I love and cared about the most. Sir Osmond was wiling to lay down his life for me because he loves me as well.” The princess’ words became poisonous when she thinks of the masked Rocket that hurt her knight. “So I will give you no quarter in doing what’s necessary to protect the people I care about.”

        Unlike Elise, all Phoenix could think about was Dream Drop Distance, that twisted world where her dreams were woven from lies. The illusions she wanted to burn away clung to her mind like chains, haunting her every step. “Legendary or not—they can die just as easily as the rest. Any Pokémon can be formidable. Or is your precious king struggling?” The masked grunt sneered, her face lit up with wild fury, echoing her dragon-type’s intensity.[break][break]

The Roaring Moon stumbled back a few feet under the enemy’s blast but was otherwise unfazed. Fury fueled its wings as it soared high, gaining speed for a quick dive-bomb aimed straight at the oversized deer. Meanwhile, the shadowy alcremie regained its composure using recovery to gained more of it's strenght, shifting its focus from the elusive Spectrier to attack the deer again with Shadow Chill.[break][break]

Osmond? Phoenix raised an eyebrow. Wow, she really fell off the radar. Last she checked, she and that love-struck armor had a thing, but now it seemed Elise had someone new to string along. “Lucky for you, I’m not the one who attack you. I don’t need some good-for-nothing guy saving my hide every two minutes. Do you even think he's worth keeping around? What if he dies protecting you, huh? Then what? You’ll be alone, broken-hearted. The ball arced perfectly through the air, hitting its target with a power that showed her confidence in battle. The Noivern burst from its ball with a sickening crackle, wings snapping as it unleashed a vicious hurricane, attempting to blow Calyrex back into the trees.
