"Sidewinder, PHANTOM FORCE!" Josh commanded as his Dragapult swished toward the Sky Pillar, the wake of the wind surrounding him creating large waves that swept small water Pokémon away. The two vanished from sight, reappearing in a color-inverted version of Hoenn that the Gym Leader hadn't visited since his injury in Ultra Space. The cold bit at him, but the discomfort was worth the thrill of zipping above the ethereal waves at hair-raising speeds.

Josh's heart raced as the ghost-type swooped upward in advance of the rapidly-approaching island, feeling like he was on a living, guided missile from how intense each turn was. Little did he realize another trainer was roaming the ethereal, too...

This Sky Pillar area was pretty cool, although Ashley much more preferred the old version that wasn't all color inverted! The ghastly girl sat on the back of her Gengar, staring out at the abyss of darkness and color mismatched islands while trying to figure out what could have been going on to get her here in the first place. Eleanor hovered above the ground some while Ashley was bust chewing on a stored fudge cake from her many trick-or-treating runs. All seemed quiet right now. [break][break]

Until the Gengar noticed another trail in the strange skies above them. She let out an attentive cry to her trainer, while Ashley perked up at the sudden declaration of noise. The girl's head worked to the skies with interest. Finally, they had been flying around here for like, forever! Somebody else was stuck here now, so they could have some fun! Ashley hopped on the back of the Gengar and pointed at the distant shape speeding through the air as the two rocketed off. [break][break]

Just as Josh and the Dragapult had neared the island above them, another rider had managed to catch up with him, greeting him with a friendly bump. Ashley and her Gengar spun around before him, then offering the man with their best taunting face, both of their tongues being stuck out at Josh. "Gengar!" Ashley snickered in greeting, waving at him while riding on Eleanor, coasting along with the other two. [break][break]

As Josh and Sidewinder floated in the spirit world on the other side of the Sky Pillar, a sudden bump knocked both of the ghost-types and their riders back to Hoenn proper, interrupting what would have been quite the thrill ride for the Gym Leader. The Dragapult made a sudden and sharp turn, facing the bump's source and preparing to fire Dreepy missiles at it. The racer tugged backward harshly on the dragon-type's reins. "Hold your fire, Sidewinder!" he ordered in a slight panic, calming down once he had his mount under control.

The flicking tongues and age of the child before him reminded Josh of vanessa rosiello , the racing superstar. Where had she been to, anyway? She had seemingly disappeared. "I thought I'd seen it all! Never seen anyone try to ride on a Gengar. Gym Leader Devlin, but you can call me Josh. Can I see how your Gengar's saddle is attached?" he asked, familiar with the great speed the poison-type species could reach.

Sure, their little bump spooked the poor Dragapault and its rider, but Ashley hadn't been expecting the sudden offensive that it was preparing to do. In defense, the Gengar twirled her rider around and prepared herself for an aerial battle until Josh had called everything off and cooled things down. Ashley listened to him, currently blinded by the curtain of blonde hair blocking sight of the guy with a toothy grin. "Gen~" She said in greeting, though shot him a confused look at the mention of a saddle. Did people actually need those to ride?[break][break]

Both rider and Pokémon shared a look at one another before showing their new friend how Ashley rode her Gengar. She didn't have a saddle, or any kind of harness, really. Ashley's feet were partially submerged into the Gengar's back to keep her in place, with her bottom resting on top of one of the back protrusions to balance herself. "Gengar~" The youngling said while still focused on Josh that a shape they were speeding towards caught the two unaware.[break][break]

Eleanor smashed into a wild Dragapault, losing its control of Ashley and ejecting her on top of the dragon type, which she grabbed a hold of. Surprised by the sudden attack, the wild Dragapault took off at high speeds in order to shake Ashley off of it. She dangled her feet in the air while trying to get back on board. "Gar! Gengar! Gar, gar?" The Dragapault looked down at its rider, letting out a soft growl while chattering something in response. Ashley nodded her head along. It did make sense that a newly evolved Dragapault was searching for a new nesting place after all! And what better way to find a home than with fellow ghosts?[break][break]

"Gengar?" She asked, inviting her to the squad while climbing on the back of the wild Pokémon. She shared a moment of not really looking into the idea, though relented, much to the joy of Ashley. Another soft growl came as Eleanor quickly caught up and plucked Ashley from the dragon’s back before she fell. The child brought up a pokeball and offered it to the ghost, which they disappeared inside of and sat it in her hands. It wiggled from side to side while the Gengar slowly returned to Josh’s side with her trainer back to be seated on her.

There seemed to be a lengthy conversation between Ashley Langford and her Gengar as Sidewinder circled them. They must have known each other very well, like Josh did his Manectric. She didn't seem much for words; instead, she demonstrated that the front half of her body was partially submerged within the spirit, its body keeping her in place. "That's amazing; no wonder you don't need a saddle--"

Josh took off after Ashley when he saw her mounting the wild ghost-type, his own Dragapult trying to fly underneath them so he could catch her if she fell. With talent he only knew one other person had, the young girl not only survived the rodeo, but befriended the wild. "...Do you know Shalin Nariya ?" the Champion sheepishly asked. "You remind me of her."
