MARCH UPDATE

Warmth begins to return to Hoenn, slowly, the coming of spring. The harsh winter is melting and with it grass is beginning to poke up beneath the white. It's still cold, cold as shit, but Stormy finds herself generally warmer than normal, so she isn't as bothered by it anymore.

But the safari zone has announced a new swarm of Pokemon, and she has her eyes set on adopting her pack of Eevee. Flareon had been restless and stir-crazy and Stormy figured it wouldn't hurt to surround the fire-type Pokemon with more of her own species.

So she trudges out into the wide-open field while keeping her eyes peeled for signs of fluffy brown movement.

There it is. That familiar tuft of brown and beige fur. It leaps out of the powdery snow and budding grass and then disappears. The wild Eevee lies in wait as Stormy creeps ever closer.

"Heeere, little Eevee baby.. come on out."

Something flashes subtly behind her and her Flareon appears, ears perked and alert as she scans the surrounding area. The Eevee, meanwhile anticipates the Flareon's arrival and bounces up out of the grass to take down the fire-type.

Thankfully, the impact is lighter than expected and the two tumble together for a moment before coming to a standstill. It seems the Eevee has taken an immediate liking to Stormy's Flareon, and the two brush faces from time to time.

"Perfect, keep up the good work, old girl."

Flareon and Eevee run on ahead, bouncing and tousling in the snow. Stormy wanders after them and very nearly steps on a wild Snom. It goes completely unnoticed to her given how translucent and pure white it is.

It hurriedly moves along and out from under Stormy's heavy feet. Beads of anxious sweat drip off in ice scales as it moves along. There's a tiny little gasp of relief when the danger passes, and Stormy hesitates a brief moment after hearing the noise.

Seeing nothing out of the ordinary, she picks up the pace to keep up with her two giddy foxes.

Where one moment the two foxes are frolicking and playing, the next moment they're standing at attention. Their ears are alert and at attention, staring straight ahead and intense as something dances closer to them.

It seems to almost sway back and forth as it walks, very feminine in its approach. Stormy stops short to watch. It seems the wild Pokemon's competitive nature has encouraged it to approach the two giddy Pokemon and challenge them to a dance off. Or something.

Except it seems the wild Meowstic is so jealous that she launches an unexpected shadow ball between the Flareon and Eevee, sending the smaller Pokemon flying.

Flareon immediately jumps to the offense, rushing forward with a quick attack that knocks the Meowstic off her feet. While Eevee recovers, Flareon takes care of the competitive wild Pokemon and looms over her intensely, puffing flames from her fur.

Stormy approaches only when the fight is over to stoop down and capture the golden cat.

The Meowstic doesn't put up more more of a fight, and Stormy approaches to retreive the capture.

Meanwhile, her other two Pokemon dart up ahead and ultimately disturb a hoard of Woobat that were nesting in a tree. The snow falls from their branches as the flock scatters.

But Stormy pays them no mind, she's not here for some super cute and fluffy bats with heart-shaped noses.

They begin to approach an area of still water, like a pond or something. Ice has crept along the edge of the banks, pushing onto the surface of the water. But it's soft and fragile, and the warmth of spring is keeping the freezing temperatures at bay.

Stormy continues along the edge, careful not to get her feet wet. Something green in the corner of her eye catches her attention and she glances over her shoulder to spot a tiny nesting of baby Budew. They seem fast asleep, perhaps hibernating for the rest of winter. But they're healthy.

It reminds her fondly of her time spent Budew hunting all those moons ago with cait alfric, and more recently with Isra Nightingale.

Alas, the woman passes them by. Budew are more Cait's style, Stormy's never been able to handle the delicateness that are plants.

Another cat passes Stormy's peripheral, but this one is less intense than his female counterpart. Some sort of eerie, misty terrain exudes from the feline's pores as he stalks ever closer.

However, before the Pokemon could even dream of pranking or fooling the Flareon and Eevee, he finds himself mesmirised by a reflection of himself in the pool they'd just walked by. It seems he'd been casting a confusion on the pair of foxes, but had accidentally bounced it off the water and onto himself.

Dazed and goofy, the Meowstic wanders off and away from the party, too confused to remember what he had originally been doing.

Stormy tucks her hands into her pockets, reaching down deep for a mint that she knows has been hiding around, rattling around for weeks.

When she finally retrieves it and takes that moment to open it with her teeth, she's surprised to find a beautiful and pink Chansey standing in front of her. It seems intrigued by the minty smell of her candy.

And Stormy breaths a sigh of relief that she hadn't accidentally stumbled into a violent Pokemon. Instead, she's relieved and overwhelmed with nostalgia and romantic thoughts of old memories.

It looked just like her Blissey once had, before she had evolved into the wonderful Blissey she was now.

So Stormy offers her up the one and only mint she had left, smiling with a slight pain to it for her sacrifice.

The Chansey takes it with a delighted chirp before wandering off.
