Alec had seemed to be wandering in the Glumwood for longer than he had anticipated. He had rumors that there was a specific type of boss in this wood that liked to play tricks on the players of the game who would enter it's ominous domain, making them wander the woods only to be ganged up on by the wild spawns to the point of death. once they reach a low amount of health, this infamous boss would devour them and await for more foolish travelers in the game. Alec however had wanted to be trapped in the woods. That was actually his plan. He had decided to hunt the creature long before coming here, hoping to gain a hefty amount of experience from it, as well as possible loot or maybe something far greater.[break][break]

"If I were the boss of this wood, I would be hiding possibly somewhere in the very center. However, I believe that it isn't the only one behind the illusions. It probably has little helpers as well who have probably barred the path to the boss," Alec had said to himself, in a train of thought when suddenly, he had heard footsteps. He instinctly turned very quickly, and pointed his wand at the person or whoever had sneaked up behind him. His red eyes showing a sense of slight tension. "Ya know, it's not nice sneaking up on people like that. That can get you killed," Alec had said, still pointing his dagwood wand at the player. His white hair seemed to have a shimmer along with his horns from the light purplish mist that was hanging in the air around them. He would only attack the person if they had attacked first. Of all the in-game locations, the Glumwood is the one Gavin knows best. It was easy to get lost in the dark, tangled forest, and his goal was to learn as much as he could about the place to capitalize on the uncertainty of others.[break][break]

Today, however, he is hunting the hunter. There is something more sinister than the rogue stalking these shadows and he intends to figure out exactly what it is and, more importantly, what kind of loot it dropped. He's been quietly and efficiently dispatching various mobs that have gotten in the way, even a player or two, but he pauses when he sneaks up on a familiar figure.[break][break]

"I'm a rogue, demon. Sneaking is what we do."[break][break]

The daggers he'd raised with all intent to dispatch the other man are not lowered, but he makes no move to use them. Instead, he sends a quick party request. It wouldn't be the first time he'd teamed up with the demon mage... nor the first time they'd fought, should the man deny.

[attr="class","ithread"][attr="class,"brawler"]two rabbit ears pop up from the ground before they're shortly followed by the rest of iris' head. though she wasn't too sure where the place she'd been meaning to go looked like, she was almost certain this wasn't it. turns out navigating underground was harder than she expected.

as she surveys her surroundings as best as she can in the dark, her rabbit vision a slight (but not significant) benefit over her human peers, she notices two men not far off. with a small sound of surprise, she ducks back down in the hopes they hadn't noticed her, failing to realise her ears were still sticking out.

It wouldn't take a genius to tell she had entered the Glumwood and gotten lost, but she wasn't about to admit to that. She had come here to defeat the boss of the area and had miraculously managed to avoid being PKed along the way.[break][break]

Maybe because the faery and fae had gotten to her first and she'd disappeared the mass of moss and mist. [break][break]

She hears voices, one of which sounds vaguely familiar. At this point in the game she's met so many people it's hard to keep track - and she didn't often reach out to add them as friends. She was a solo-player for the most part, not that it really helped her get further in the game.[break][break]

But the mage approaches anyway, curious to see who else might be stuck in this nightmare with her. Unfortunately now she just feels embarrassed about having gotten lost because, clearly, she hadn't been lost at all. What a nightmare.[break][break]

Something rustles next to her and then ducks down and away, but her ears give her away. With a sigh, Stormy breaks free of the dark to step into the light with everyone else.[break][break]

"Do any of you really expect to find this boss with all the ruckus you're making?"

Alec had made a 'tch' sound at the Rogue's remark, , setting his wand down, but still holding it firmly in his hand. Alec had then heard a rustling nearby, seeing a figure, however he could not make out what or who it was. "You can come out whoever you are." Alec had sighed, getting rather annoyed. Maybe it was the stupid virtual forest. It was then that another person - a familiar female had approached. "Jeez how many players are lost in this damn forest? And for your information, no. In fact the boss is probably planning on us to find it. Why else would he, she, it bitch - whatever it is, is doing all this stuff? It's toying with us until we are weak enough for him to take us out. So, with that said, I think we should kill it, and get out of here before another one of it's kind decided to do the same exact thing this one is doing," Alec had said to the female witch that had approached them, stating a good point. [break][break]

"At any rate, lets get this show on the road. Also, whoever you are that's hiding, you're more than welcome to join in taking this thing down! I'm pretty sure it beats dying alone," Alec had called out. His words may have sounded slightly harsh, however one couldn't deny the truth behind his words. Alec was a Solo Player, however teaming up at times like this to ensure your survival was better than nothing. [break][break]

To the female mage, he says, "If it were a matter of simply sneaking up on the boss, I'd have done it ages ago. We're getting teleported around, have you not noticed?"[break][break]

Turn a corner expecting to see a familiar clearing, and instead you're nearly tripping over a fallen log. Look behind you when you hear a sound, and when you turn back around you're not looking at the same path you'd been on. It was subtle, clever, but obvious to someone who spent far too much time among these trees. The ever-present mist had taken on an ominous feeling.[break][break]

He sends a party request to everyone involved, cutting to the chase.[break][break]

"At least if we're in a group when it ambushes us, we can't all be locked down at once."

she glances back at the tunnel she's dug--her escape route--only to find it gone. having already embarrassed herself, she decides to keep the observation to herself. instead, she warily moves towards the group. there's still a safe distance between them, but it would be harder to leave her behind now.

Stormy makes a face at Alec's attempt to make sense of the situation, completely or mostly completely disregarding her idea. She almost has the urge to mimic his words with a stupid face, but thinks better of it.[break][break]

Someone else offers the group a party invite and, begrudgingly, she accepts. She stood no chance against blowing up all of these players, let alone just one. They all looked tough, wearing better armor than she was, and likely had tricks up their sleeve that she couldn't judge from the surface. [break][break]

Or maybe it was the ghost on her shoulder playing tricks with her and whispering insecurities in her ear. Regardless, she averts her attention to the small bunny girl that had finally decided to show her face, and Stormy offers the girl a wave. [break][break]

"The boss? You know, like the biggest threat in this damn forest? C'mon, you've definitely heard of it."[break][break]

But she was tired of standing around chit-chatting, it was time to get this party started.

Alec had wanted to speak more to his group of three, however a Power Whip had crashed down him, hopefully the other three had dodged. Any regular person who was lower-level would have died instantly from an attack like that, however, a massive explosion had occured as the tentacle was shot up, revealing the Demon Mage very much alive, and pissed. "That is the boss," Alec had said to the woman with the bunny ears, whom he had presumed to be the one that was hiding. The Mega Evolved Hatterene had taken damage, however only slight damage. "I find it odd that it had decided to come out and play when we haven't even lost a single ounce of health. Oh well, that just means we get to kill it sooner than expected," Alec had said, licking his lips and forming a devilish grin on his face, ready to play with the Mega Evolved Spawn that had appeared before them.[break][break]

Notes: Alec has gotten hit by Power Whip, however counters with Shell Trap. He then uses freeze dry to deal damage to the Tentacles in the hopes Stormy would help him by doing the same.

He's unsure of what to expect when the boss shows itself at last; what he witnesses is something both familiar and foreign. Hatterene are native to Galar and Gavin had grown up in that very region, but he's never seen one so large.[break][break]

It lashes out with its tentacle-like hair and the rogue barely manages to roll out of the way, a rush of adrenaline spiking in his veins.[break][break]

Still, he knows it to be part fairy-type, and he's excited at the chance to pull off his signature combo when the demon mage warns against it. Though the rogue's lip curls in distaste, he acknowledges the logic behind the statement. He's never looked into owning one of these... things, and isn't familiar enough with their potential abilities to challenge the validity of the statement.[break][break]

"My Venoshock won't be as strong without it being poisoned, but it's still super-effective."[break][break]

With that said, he holds up one of his daggers and a purple stone in the hilt pulses with a noxious energy. The special attack allows him to stay clear of flailing appendages, attacking from a distance instead of his usual close-range.

[attr="class","ithread"][attr="class,"brawler"]before she can answer, she senses everyone's attention move, following the direction of their gaz towards the boss. iris' eyes widen in the face of its imposing stature. immediately, she uses NO RETREAT, readying herself for battle.

the boost comes just in time. iris has no time to react when she sees the incoming BRUTAL SWING, left with no option but to brace herself. the rabbit girl is hurled into a nearby tree. "ow!" despite her pain the battle still wages on. refusing to waste any time, she burrows into the ground with DIG. it's easy enough to sense the boss' location, driven on by some inexplicable force. she bursts forth from the ground, landing a clean hit on the hatterene.

Something slams to the ground just inches from her head. Had she not side-stepped like someone else, she'd have been crushed. She startles, pulling out her wand in retaliation, anticipating another attack. Adrenaline pumping makes it hard for her to hear what Alec is trying to explain, but it doesn't matter: her spells won't lower any of the Pokemon's stats or anything.[break][break]

When the smoke clears after the demon mage's SHELL TRAP, she can see that the boy has begun to attack the strange Pokemon's hair-tentacles with a FREEZE-DRY. Regardless of if he had asked for her assistance, the woman follows his lead. Together, they manage to hold back the tentacles and prevent them from moving so rapidly. Of course, Stormy's spell would never actually freeze the target fully, but she was dealing a ton of damage while she tried.[break][break]

The bunny girl disappears into the ground and Stormy has half a mind to assume she's fled the fight altogether. That is, until the girl reappears and lays siege on the Hatterene's exposed backside. Not bad.[break][break]

"We just need to take it down as quickly as we can."

"I couldn't agree more myself," He had said to the female mage, licking his lips as he had prepared a Calm Mind Spell to boost his special attack and special defense stats. It was then that the Mega Hatterene, despite her tentacles being frozen, still used Power Whip with one of them as an attempt to kill the demon mage, however he had actually hoped it would do that. [break][break]

Alec grinned wildly, using Shell Trap once more, taking some more damage, only for frozen tentacles explode and break apart. The Mega Hatterene had screamed in agony from the pain of her tentacles and that was when her body began to shimmer and glow. She was preparing a Dazzling Gleam to attack all four of them simultaneously with a bright light! The bright light had definitely hurt the Demon's eyes, which made his health bar go down a little more. [break][break]

With only one tentacle now in the picture it made it a little easier for Alec and his party, however with that one tentacle gone, the Boss of the Glumwood would now alternate between using her tentacles as well as her AoE attacks as well. [break][break]

Notes: Alec had used Calm Mind to inscrease his SP ATK and SP DEF stats and then had used Shell Trap on the rozen tentacle that had hit him, which resulted in breaking the frozen Tentacle. There is one left, but the Mega Hatterene had began to use Dazzling Gleam to attack Alec and the party
