Stormy was in meteor falls mostly to enjoy the scenery and the view. The crashing cascade of water behind her was incredibly beautiful and nice to listen to. It really did the job of becoming white noise.[break][break]

But she had recently stumbled across the young man from the demolish derby event and she was more than happy to challenge him to a brief duel.[break][break]

Her Steelix was in a mood, it seemed, pooped on too many times by flying-type Pokemon all the way up in the mountains where they were.[break][break]

"Are you ready? Steelix isn't gentle, so bring something that can take a beating!"[break][break]

To start off the fight, Steelix SCREECHES, causing a great uproar of feathers and fright from wild Pokemon opting to watch the battle.

Maverick found himself in meteor falls. Depression washed over him as the thought of never finding his former team come to a quick reality. It was pure luck he had found who he had already. And as the months went one and still nothing, the man new he had to give up on that dream. And in an attempt to forget about the past, a strolled through the falls seemed appropriate. But not to shortly after he arrived int he falls, a familiar face found him and challenged him to a duel. And when a gym leader challenges you to a battle outside of the gym, it would be a dishonor to decline.

Moving to his side of the battlefield to give them plenty of room to fight it out, Maverick nodded to Azula as she tried to step forward to battle the massively tall steel and ground type. “Although I know my reputation is on the line, I really do need to start training others.” The canine let out a small whine, wanting to battle so bad. Reaching into his pocket, he called upon another pokemon he hoped would provide a decent battle for the both of them. The ball burst open and the newest creature to joined the Ryder family was nickit. The black and red little fox yawned, stretched in place before his gaze landed on the massive creature before it.[break][break]

But before the creature could properly take in everything, Maverick was swift to start the battle. “Farook. Horn claws and get close with quick attack.” The little fox stretched at the rocks underneath him, sharing his claws almost feeling attack and accuracy rises. And then, the little fox was on the move. His strides were slow but then picked up speed. His aim was to hit anywhere he could, moving left and right in hopes to confuse the steelix to were he was going to hit.[break][break]

Reputation? Was he talking to her or his Pokemon?[break][break]

Stormy observes with some semblance of patience as Maverick refuses his Houndoom a battle. Instead, she's given a Nickit to fight. She stares at the tiny Pokemon, exchanging a glance with her Steelix.[break][break]

"Um.. are you sure about this?"[break][break]

But he seemed certain, so she'd give him the benefit of the doubt. She had trained a Nickit herself - and it certainly wasn't what she'd call capable of facing a Steelix.[break][break]

"We're practicing pulling our punches today, Steelix."[break][break]

Of course, that was easier said than done. The Nickit bounces forward to QUICK ATTACK. The move does nothing, virtually, except a few tiny scrapes on his shiny coat. It's enough to put him into a RAGE however. Any marring to his appearance warranted a beat down.[break][break]

The Nickit better not trip.

It was abundantly clear Maverick was out of his game today. And although Stormy questioned him, Maverick didn’t not reconsider. He had plenty of other pokemon that could have taken out the steelix, but that wasn’t his mission today. Even as the quick attack did nothing to the steelix, the trainer did not regret his decision. Farook starched his claws at the metal surface of the steel and ground type creature but it didn’t effect it. If anything, the steelix could buff it out like nothing happened. Maverick remained blank, emotionless and dull. After his successful attack, the fox landed in front of the creature on all four. Expecting for the steelix to attack back, the fox tried to haul ass out of there. However, the minor scratched pissed the creature off.[break][break]

When the fox turned to face the creature once again, his little eyes widened at the sight of an angry steelix. However, the steelix was quick to sweep the fox off his feet. Literally. The rage sent the creature a few feet back landing with a thud on the rocky surface of the falls. “Sucker punch,” Maverick mumbled with a sigh as the creature stood on all fours, “Go. Do it before it gets too angry.” Farook turned to glance at the trainer, his blank expression made it question the move. But the trainer was quick to snap, brow scrunched at the creatures hesitation. “Get going.” The fox flinched though was quick to obey. The little fox face the raging steelix and ran towards it once more, running around try to dodge his rage while looking for an opening to attack.[break][break]

Stormy physically winces as she watches Steelix's massive body sweep the legs out from under the Nickit. The tiny fox is sent flying, scrambling to its paws for round two. The smaller Pokemon is much faster than Steelix, able to get in close while he's still recovering from his first move. But the fact remains that even with the incoming SUCKER PUNCH, the tiny fox is outsized and outmatched.[break][break]

But the SUCKER PUNCH does manage to slow his second round of RAGE - of course, being struck only adds fuel to the fire. Once again, Steelix aims to sweep his body across the ground in a wide-arcing RAGE.

Farook swaggered back and forth in hopes to find an opening as the creature raged on. And when said opening was found, the little fox darted in in hopes to land an attack successfully. His body took on a dark glow as he whipped around last minute to sucker punch the steelix with his tail. The attack hit as he landed on his feet. However, the Steelix wasn’t thrilled about it as much as he was. As soon as Farook landed on his feet and turned to see if he made a dent on the creature, the mighty beast swung at him. The fox panicked as it tried to dodge the raging creature.[break][break]

The creature was just took big with too much area covered. When his shiny body came in close, Farook tried to jump up so his tail/body would miss him. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case. His rock hard tough as steel body slammed in his. The blow nearly took his breath away as it sent the creature flying across, over Maverick’s head and into a pool of water behind him with a slash. The trainer snapped out of his daze and blinked, turned to see his creature scrambling to keep his head floating. Feeling bad, Maverick reached into the water and helped the creature out of the water.[break][break]

Farook was drenched head to tail, pain from the blow and out of breath. His breaths were shallow and winced on every inhale. The man cursed under his breath. This was like the first battle he had with Kimba when she almost got her lungs popped by a poniards bladed hand. Not looking at Stormy who probably was not pleased right now, Maverick took off his jacket and helped the creature dry off. Farook wasn’t having it as he snapped at his trainers hand. The trainer moved away, knowing his lack of awareness as already caused his creature not to trust him.[break][break]

Maverick reached for his pokeball, ready to call the creature back when the creature sudden race forward. His little paws carried him straight for the steelix in an assurance attack. This time, Farook will hit it for sure. Maverick’s hand raised to stop the creature but by the time he uttered a word, it was already too late. He tighten his fist on the dark fox’s ball. Frustrated that he let his emotions get to him and cloud his judgement, letting his pokemon suffer for it. Something he vowed never to do again.[break][break]

Stormy gasps as the Nickit runs into the fray. It's a mess and she's shaking her head. This wasn't a battle, this was a massacre.[break][break]

She waits until the Nickit is thrown into the pool before she raises her hand and whistles for her Steelix to fall back.[break][break]

"That's enough! I'm switching. I didn't ask to battle like this, this isn't a fair fight."[break][break]

It was even less than fair, it was literally like squishing a bug. Stormy frowns as the immense serpent is recalled in exchange for the Nickit's evolution form. A Thievul stands, peering down at the bedraggled and drowned Nickit.[break][break]

To both Maverick’s and Farook’s surprise, the woman calls back her might beast in favor of fair fight. The man was a mixture of both relief and ashamed. He let his emotions clouded his judgement and his nickit suffered for his. But to his surprised, the woman called out the evolution of his nickit. The little fox’s head titled to one side, still damp from the water. “Do you want to continue or watch?” The man mumbled to the fox, fist still tightly gripped his pokeball, “I’ll let that be up to you.” Farook blinked, unsure of what to do. But as he stood to ready for battle, pain rippled through him and he winced. “I would advise you to at least take a break.” The Nickit snarled at the trainer, refusing to be put down.[break][break]

The man sighed, gaze shifted to the woman in hopes she would see his plead to take it easy on him. “Alright then,” the man said in a flat emotionless voice, “Use quick attack.” The black and red furred fox starred at the older fox, the snarl made him hesitant at first but soon over came it. Farook then charged, though his limped and flinched all the while. Instead of a quick attack, it was more like a slow attack. Maverick frowned, hoping the bigger fox would just take him out quick so he can recall the pokemon.[break][break]

The following SUCKER PUNCH that Thievul would displace the Nickit with would be a patient one. The pup's advance is slow and desperate, and the Thievul is willing to let her motherly instinct kick in for just a moment. So when she SUCKER PUNCHES the Nickit, it's a much softer blow than she may have given normally.[break][break]

With one paw on the kids head, she'd rough him around the ears and make a noise of amusement and mild concern. Stormy glances back up to meet Maverick's gaze.[break][break]

"Y'know. I'm all for the underdog in fights - but I think you really overestimated your Nickit. There's an underdog and there's a sacrifice."[break][break]

She rolls her head on her shoulders, exasperated. [break][break]

"But.. it was certainly a learning experience for the Nickit, I'm sure. A reminder that he can't win every fight, but he really needs to learn when to call it quits, I think."
