Bladess needed to cool off. The scyther was surprisingly competitive and Vanessa wondered if she was the right pokémon for the race course. The bulky lady in the one-piece Alola-themed bikini was just worried her sharp edges could harm her teammates—most of which were unfamilisr faces, except for Remiel Calcifet.

Glaring at the scyther and ordering for it to calm down, Vanessa and Bladess positioned themselves in-front of the team as they focused on raising their AGILITY. At the sound of the alarm, both the trainer and her pokémon sprinted in a competitive match of speed.

They were back again on the race track for another go of it. Chispas, as it turned out, was the competitive type. Remiel was fond of the fact, considering it made the pokémon considerably malleable to being trained and taught.

So, after placing themselves at the starting position, both trainer and pokémon waited for the alarm to go off before dashing forward in tandem. The tiny little Torchic's AGILITY and SPEED BOOST made leaping over the first hurdle quite an easy feat. Remiel, on the other hand, had to put a bit more effort into it. But nothing that truly exhausted him to much extent.

Alexei, like everyone else, was drawn to the Speed course—and with good reason. There were a lot of Pokémon that were ridiculously good at boosting themselves with their movement speed.[break][break]

Why did he decide to take Sasuke out for a spin now? More importantly, why was his Scyther named after a ninja?[break][break]

Was this adding insult to injury? Who knew?[break][break]

“Look, all we have to do is—we just have to fight our way through this course. Get to the end. How’s that sound?” he asked the dual-type, who was busy rubbing his claws together. While he could have gone the natural course and brought out Sakura, his Scizor instead—there was something that the Scyther wanted to prove.[break][break]

“Alright, alright. You get this round,” he conceded, before the Scyther rubbed his wings together excitedly. A few moments later, the starting pistol rang out, and they were… hopefully not the last people at the line![break][break]

“Oh, Arceus! Agility, now!” he said as he watched the Scyther take off, swinging its blade-like appendages with glee. Of course he had to run after the other, and off he went![break][break]

Now, this was certainly interesting. The diversity among the pokemon in this group was extremely lacking. Two Scythers, and one Scizor, all three from the same evolutionary line. It felt almost strange being the only odd one out, with her adorable Torchic by her side.

Still, Ruby watched the other trainers interacting with their pokemon for a bit, specifically on Alexei Ivanov as he talked to his. Unable to help but smile, she turned to face her own pokemon before the race began. "Remember, we're supposed to run as fast as we can. Don't go running between their legs, just because you're really fast, okay?"

Nugget chirped softly in response, clearly just ready to get going and not entirely focusing on what Ruby had to say. Despite that, Ruby hoped they would remain focused. As soon as the gun fired and started the race, her Torchic used Agility, quickly speeding ahead, especially as its ability Speed Boost only increased it's speed even further.

of course, vanessa was confused why the organizers even allowed an underaged girl for this kind of competition, even when she was regarded as the saint of slateport. more so, when she released an unideal partner for the speed race, she was very hoping the girl and the torchic could keep up with the others’ pace. “tell me if you need help, then i’ll carry you,” she said in a hushed, low, and manly tone as she continued sprinting across the field.[break][break]

The Torchic propelled itself forward with yet another impressive SPEED BOOST as Remiel struggled to keep up. The next obstacle on the track was a series of logs being rolled down the slight incline. With the Torchic's great AGILITY, however, this proved to be no match. As for the human, the endeavor came with a great degree of danger.

One wrong move and he could find himself pinned beneath the logs or worse. So, wiping the sweat from his brow and pushing forward, Remiel was sure to leap over them with calculated focus. They still had a ways to go. He couldn't stop here.

So of course Sasuke was dashing on ahead, spurred on by the sight of other very quick Pokémon running alongside, ahead and as well as right behind him. Being the competitive sort, he wasn’t going to live this down entirely.

Unlike the Scyther, he preferred to take his time because—well, he knew that Sasuke was overexcited and had a lot of energy to burn, so there he was watching the dual-type just running as fast and as far ahead of him with another burst of Agility.[break][break]
