Return to Camp Chimney (Zac/Jess)

Callow talked, her words cutting with fervor. She had a lot to say, and Zac found himself drawn in by the beating heart of her words. It was wrong that nobody checked on Groudon. Maybe they just assumed that because it was so massive that nothing could hurt it. Nothing could dent its hide or deal lasting damage. Zac knew how that panned out.
"I'll be checking out the vents and measuring the passive lava levels," Zac said, shaking the proffered elbow. "If Groudon's still resting down in the main chamber then Zagrea and Zirca will let me know how he's doing."
He nodded at her thanks, smiling as the conversation lightened. "You're more than welcome. Hope the big battle didn't disrupt any little guys, but I reckon anything on the mountain fled when the place started shaking." Zac said, scanning the scorched sediment for signs of life. There was no movement, and no sign yet of the course scrub that thrived in the mountain's rich soil. "The Pokemon are hardy around here, though. They'll be back. Just give them a little time."
Jess called to a bird friend and headed off, making her way into the tunnels. Zac waved a goodbye and turned to Amor. "At least the birds are still around. They do make great scouts, but leave it to a cave-dweller to show you around under the mountain." Kev rumbled beside them before grinding its way back down the tunnel. "I did a preliminary check for tunnel damage." Zac said, leading Amor underground. The tunnel was Steelix-sized -Not thin, but not spacious either- and was a straight bore that cut at a steep angle into the layers of volcanic earth. "About a third of the caves collapsed or suffered some damage from the eruption," Zac explained, the heat growing around them. They continued on, the light from flowing magma building to a thick, wavering orange as they approached a break in the tunnel. "I've got to check the walls of the vents before I leave. The Fallabor people are worried. If the lateral vents were weakened by Groudon's attack, then even a natural eruption could blow out the side of the volcano and spell disaster for the town."
On that grim note they reached the hole into the cavern Zac had been checking. It was well underground, and parts of the roof had collapsed. On the far side, magma flowed out of a crack in the floor, pooling before seeping back down some unseen hole. "You two check it out, yeah? Let me know what's down there." Zagrea and Zirca stomped off, with Zirca headbutting Zagrea out of the way so that she could crawl down the hole first.
"What do you think?" Zac said, sweat pouring down his neck as he gestured to the sweltering cavern around them. "This a good enough place for that node?"
