After fighting a legendary, coming face to face with one in the form of an enraged Regidrago, and then having to flee before he could do anything due to the implications of the temporal eruption that they had unleashed. To say that Amor had lost sleep was an understatement it had been two weeks ago since he had seen first hand the power of a Legendary, and it was then that he decided that his idleness would end. So far he had relied on others to acquire the things that he had wanted, but that wasn't necessary really, Amor wasn't stupid, if he couldn't buy what he wanted, he could just make it. All of that education he had gained wasn't just for business, he had engineering, some coding, physics, and various other subjects that could aid him. Amor wasn't a genius, but he didn't mind trial, and error, and when you could afford to make mistakes you stopped worrying.

So for two weeks he had been holed up in his personal lab, and talked to about the potential for a gadget that he wanted to make, of course he offered to send her a version of the node that would be easily produced, and suit her needs to sense, and detect Primal Energy. His personal version would be a bit different, but that was because his goals were different than hers. Of course he had no problem if his devices to could aid others, but that was never the first goal, Amor was a simple man, if he wanted something he would seek it out via any means possible. So here he was at the foot of the mountain where two weeks ago, he had stood with many others in an attempt to prevent a cataclysmic event.

Not sure what he was going to be up against this time, he left Adontis at home, since he had some new friends to play with to keep him occupied while he was out, and Amor brought his strongest team. On the off chance Regidrago, or an angry Groudon showed up he wasn't going to be caught off guard. Recently he had come into possession of a Mythical Pokemon of his own, though it was only because Adontis had given him teary eyes, and practically begged him to take it home with them. A Zeraora was in a Pokeball clipped to his belt, though no one knew that he had it yet, he hoped to keep it to himself for as long as possible, but if push came to shove he would let his new Pokemon show it's full force.

"Draco, our guests should be coming soon stay on alert for anything strange." Of course that ever present Dragonite was by his side especially in a place like this. "Zac did say he was going to bring someone extra with him, though I don't really know them." Amor had asked Zac to accompany for one reason. He was muscle, Zac was an Avatar, and had at least two legendaries that Amor was aware of. Well two reasons, Amor did consider Zac somewhat of a friend, despite their schedules being fairly busy, Amor did hold him in high regard, so he would trust the mans judgement.

But with his legends added to Stryker, his Zeraora, and that would give them three to contend Regidrago with, not to mention Zac's avatar abilities whatever they might be, would be a boon. On his left hip was a small device that Amor would plant in this place, it was the prototype of his Primal Node. Bury it underground, and it would begin collected data when it was activated, and since this place had been awash in Primal Energy not so long ago, Amor was confident he would gain some valuable data.

Pokemon: Stryker- Zeraora
Draco- Dragonite
Typhon- Garchomp
Zahak- Dragapult
Illukas- Hydreigon
Bahamut- Salamence

Mt. Chimney smoked-- and steamed-- and smelled of sulphur.  Jess sat astride her Dodrio with her goggles over her eyes to protect them from the heat and gases, looking out over the rim.

I have to go back.

The grim thought had sat on her chest for weeks now, infringing on her peace with every beer she drank alone or every gallon of expensive fuel she pumped into her helicopter.

For all its rage and power at the start, Groudon had saved them. It felt wrong to simply give it up as a martyr, to abandon it to some eternity battling Regidrago in the upper mantle. The League had showed no interest in rescuing the wounded Pokemon, or even investigating whether it was alive or dead. They'd given up on it. A lost cause.

Because it couldn't be controlled.

And when Pokemon couldn't be controlled by humans, humans didn't care.

"Just don't sit right with me," Jess muttered as the three-headed bird beneath her paced the rim of the volcano, its great, broad talons surefooted on the rough lava-rock. "Those patches of the past, the way that orb summoned 'em..." She didn't know what to make of any of it. She'd been hoping a birds-eye view from her helicopter would turn up some answers, but bizarrely, it just created more questions instead.

The helicopter sat on a patch of smooth ground a little ways away, its rotor blades still. The ground had been flattened as if by giant hands, reduced to a perfect landing pad after the forces which had shaped the mountain had disappeared.

Sure wasn't this shape before...

Dodrio crested the eastern rim of Mt. Chimney, drawing close to the place where Groudon had tackled its enemy through the side of the mountain into the inner chambers, freeing the magma trapped inside. Last time, she'd been too busy running from the lava to investigate.

To her surprise, however, someone else was already here. Jess raised a hand towards the silver-haired stranger in greeting as the Triple Bird approached at a trot. "Thought I was the only one crawling this mountain," she said as she pulled up. "Didn't see you on my flyover. You ain't a civilian, are you?" The Dragonite at his side suggested he wasn't, but his immaculate appearance crawled with good breeding and old money. Neither mixed well with lava. "Big battle here recently. No place to be treasure hunting."

She lowered her goggles. Her lips quirked. "'Course, if you're lookin' for Groudon, that's another story."

Zac was too busy mapping out the new topology to arrive on time. Curiosity may have endangered a few felines here and there, but for him is had launched a career, and there was nothing more exciting than a newly formed mantle or a segment of fracturing crust.

The earth ruptured as a broad, shovel-shaped head sliced through the rock a ways away from and @jess . Kev the Steelix ground upwards, carrying Zac on his back as it approached the rocky plateau. It was an abrasive way to travel, but Zac wasn't much for flying.

"Sorry for the hold up!" he said, jumping down with a crunch of gravel. "There were some killer striations in the magma flow. It's changed so much since we were here last time! I had to grab some quick cores just in case." He slapped the bulging pockets of his cargo pants.

A pair of Heatran crawling out of the Steelix hole, following in Zac's wake. They stomped across the sunlit hearth like a pair of pneumatic geckos, their eyes sizzling and unblinking. Zac approached the pair, shaking Amor's hand before introducing himself to Jess. "The name's Zac Ramsay! I think I remember you from the raid, right? Nice to meet ya!"

Amor waited as a helicopter descended nearby, and a stranger approached him, Draco immediately took a defensive step between the two of them. Eyes narrowing dangerously at the intruder who had dared approached his master, but Amor quieted him quickly with a simple pat on his shoulder. All of his Pokemon had been a tad overprotective lately, though that was to be expected, that was a story for another time however. Amor had simply been marveling at the volcano before him, and the massive changes it had undergone since his last visit here, he wouldn't have gotten this kind of experience had he stayed away from this region.

"Considering I was part of said big battle...Your concern is unneeded, though appreciated." He stated aptly to the woman who had approached him. Draco was still standing protectively near him, but Amor just pat the big dragon on the head to calm him down a little. That was when Zac appeared out of a hole with a Steelix, and two Heatran. Amor made a mental note of that, that the man had at least three different legends under his command. "Don't worry about being late, I was just enjoying the sights." He spoke to his friend, and fellow businessman. "Though I hope the caves are still there, I want to go there, you didn't dig them all out did you Zac?" He mused to the man with a small chuckle, before turning back to the newcomer.

"As for if I'm looking for Groudon...I think he will simply be a byproduct of what I am looking for." Slitted, cat like eyes looked over the woman, and Zac together as he turned his attention back to the volcano. "What I hope to find, well there is no need to hide it, if we're going to be here together. Regidrago, and one of those red shards...The power to distort time, now that is something curious, and I doubt we are the only ones looking for it. With Rockets coup d'état in Sootopolis, I plan on shoring up the defenses where I live." He explained to them both, was it selfish? Absolutely, but in a world where cities fell, and legends roamed freely, you needed power, and that power needed to be absolute.

"I would rather find that power, before they did if I am being honest." He stated to them both, though Zac would already know of his intentions, Amor wasn't the kind of man to lie, or try to speak around the subject at hand. This is what he wanted, and this is why he wanted it. "Less more of the region fall under their control." Amor didn't really care about Rocket, or the League, but when an entire city was subjugated that couldn't simply be ignored, and while he would be amicable to the best of his ability, that didn't mean he trusted them either. He was not so naive to believe that they would simply stop at one city, that isn't how conquering worked.

"I know why Zac is here...But who are you, and why are you interested in Groudon?" Amor asked the stranger directly, similarly in how a certain doctor had questioned him not so long ago. Though he didn't really care, if they wanted to tag along, as long as they didn't try anything shifty. "Though if you were part of the same battle then you saw what I did. The Titan giving himself up to save us." Amor tilted his head curiously to her, he couldn't know what she wanted, but they didn't seem to be apart of anything shady. If they were, he doubted they would show up in a helicopter that was easily trackable, so at least on the surface they seemed alright. Amor was just curious about their reasoning.

Of course the man had business motives in mind. A war of resources, where whoever found the prize first won. Wasn't that just the way of the world?

But it wasn't Jess's world.

Words sizzled past her lips before she could stop them, her posture unwinding, relaxed, dangerous. "Sure. I'm here same as you, just huntin' power and control and all that. Maybe I'll even catch Groudon while it's weak and make it my Avatar or whatever the hell you people do. Easy answer, right?"

Sarcasm done, her eyes wandered away from Amor's, becoming distant.

"Just feels bad," she said, softer. "Feels wrong, after it saved us, like you said. So much going on in the world out there with Sootopolis and all... everyone's forgotten about it."

"I haven't forgot, though."
The former ranger turned back, narrowing eyes lined by sun and shrewdness. "Just late to the party. Doin' what I can. Can't ask for much more."

She changed the subject as if the serious tone made her uncomfortable, turning away and offering an elbow for Zac to bump in greeting. "Name's Callow. Think I saw you from the air, Big Red." Her mouth twisted wryly. "You responsible for flattening the crater up there? I owe you one. Made a great landing pad."

She tugged on the reins and turned her Dodrio around, scanning the bleak landscape for an entrance to the caves Amor had mentioned. "You can have any Red Shards if I find 'em, dragon boy," she said over her shoulder, shading her eyes as she looked up into the sky. A small shape was soaring overhead, riding the natural thermals produced by the geothermic activity. Yellow primaries flashed on the undersides of its wings-- a wild Fletchinder.

Jess put two fingers in her mouth and made a sharp, strange sound-- somewhere between a whistle and a loud, smacking kiss.

A moment later, the curious bird had drifted down close enough to see clearly. Jess thumped her Dodrio on its side, getting its attention. "Ask it to look for cave entrances, will you?" she asked. The Triple Bird let out a chorus of noisy squawks, and after a moment of hesitation the wild Pokemon beat its wings and wheeled away, flying wider, broader circles around the area.

"Ain't nothing like a bird for scouting," Jess said matter-of-factly, squinting up against the light. "They got sharper eyes than we do."

It wasn't even a minute before a trill came from above and a small, sleek shadow skimmed the ground as the Pokemon returned. The Fletchinder had found something. Whether it was the same entrance Zac already knew about, Jess didn't know-- but she knew she'd rather trust a local any day over a couple of guys arguing over directions.

"Maybe I'll see y'all down there," she said, putting on her goggles and starting after the waiting Fletchinder. "Maybe."

Callow talked, her words cutting with fervor. She had a lot to say, and Zac found himself drawn in by the beating heart of her words. It was wrong that nobody checked on Groudon. Maybe they just assumed that because it was so massive that nothing could hurt it. Nothing could dent its hide or deal lasting damage. Zac knew how that panned out.

"I'll be checking out the vents and measuring the passive lava levels," Zac said, shaking the proffered elbow. "If Groudon's still resting down in the main chamber then Zagrea and Zirca will let me know how he's doing."

He nodded at her thanks, smiling as the conversation lightened. "You're more than welcome. Hope the big battle didn't disrupt any little guys, but I reckon anything on the mountain fled when the place started shaking." Zac said, scanning the scorched sediment for signs of life. There was no movement, and no sign yet of the course scrub that thrived in the mountain's rich soil. "The Pokemon are hardy around here, though. They'll be back. Just give them a little time."

Jess called to a bird friend and headed off, making her way into the tunnels. Zac waved a goodbye and turned to Amor. "At least the birds are still around. They do make great scouts, but leave it to a cave-dweller to show you around under the mountain." Kev rumbled beside them before grinding its way back down the tunnel. "I did a preliminary check for tunnel damage." Zac said, leading Amor underground. The tunnel was Steelix-sized -Not thin, but not spacious either- and was a straight bore that cut at a steep angle into the layers of volcanic earth. "About a third of the caves collapsed or suffered some damage from the eruption," Zac explained, the heat growing around them. They continued on, the light from flowing magma building to a thick, wavering orange as they approached a break in the tunnel. "I've got to check the walls of the vents before I leave. The Fallabor people are worried. If the lateral vents were weakened by Groudon's attack, then even a natural eruption could blow out the side of the volcano and spell disaster for the town."

On that grim note they reached the hole into the cavern Zac had been checking. It was well underground, and parts of the roof had collapsed. On the far side, magma flowed out of a crack in the floor, pooling before seeping back down some unseen hole. "You two check it out, yeah? Let me know what's down there." Zagrea and Zirca stomped off, with Zirca headbutting Zagrea out of the way so that she could crawl down the hole first.

"What do you think?" Zac said, sweat pouring down his neck as he gestured to the sweltering cavern around them. "This a good enough place for that node?"

This woman seemed to either get the wrong idea, or just not understand what he was trying to say. Amor apparently was not good at conveying what he meant, but the childish ramblings of someone he didn't know were inconsequential soon they were off doing their own thing, talking about birds were good scouts, and that was true, but he had Zac. The Gym Leader who specialized in biome research, and apparently had two Heatran. After saying he could have whatever red shards she found she then left to follow her birds, which puzzled Amor since Zac had made that nice hole for them to traverse down into the cave system with, but he wasn't going to tell someone they were wrong.

"Perhaps I think to far into the future for random strangers to understand what I mean. Or am I the only one who thinks that it's a bad idea if we let Rocket get their hands on time travel? Obviously they have a great ability to mobilize considering Sootopolis..." He wondered a bit aloud to Zac as he followed the man down the narrowish tunnel, Draco close behind him. Was he the only person in this region who tried to look at the bigger picture, and plan accordingly because outside of a few others it seemed that way. "I see, that's unfortunate that the caves collapsed, but we can probably figure some way around, I did come somewhat prepared today." As they got to the first layer of their expedition, and he sent his two Heatran off Amor felt the heat pounding against him, and when Zac asked if this would be a good place for his node, Amor smiled.

"Yeah this should do, I just hope it works as well as I thought it would." Walking over to an inconspicuous spot Amor dug about an inch into the ground, and planted it there. It looked like a high tech landmine, and he pressed down on the center which caused it to unfold. The face plate becoming spikes used to latch itself into the ground, and after checking to make sure that it was in working order he brought up his HoloWatch. He had made a few adjustments to the little machine courtesy of his assistant Jarvis. "Alright Jarvis can you hear me?" He asked the stranger on the other end.

"Ah Master Amor! Bzzztt I read ya loud, and clear bzzztt. Uplink is successful zzzbbtt!" A strangely robotic voice would echo out from his watch, but he seemed satisfied. The fact that it was able to uplink was all he needed, and now as it gathered data it would be sent to his lab for Jarvis to sort through.

"Perfect...Primal Node 1, planted, and successful hopefully we'll be able to learn something here." He said wiping some of the sweat from his forehead, and looking back to Zac. "So what exactly happened to you on the excursion here? I didn't really see you around, though I was flying rather than walking." He asked him curiously, his HoloWatch now had a holographic H.U.D up that would resemble a sonar as it took in the ambient levels of energy in this place. Jarvis would work quickly to figure out a norm, and then alert them to any spikes though he doubted they would find anything today.

Nope. Jess understood Amor just fine.

The issue wasn't misunderstanding, except maybe on Amor's end. To someone with infinite resources and infinite justification for his actions in name of 'the greater good', someone like Jess couldn't possibly just disagree with him. She had to be confused. Right? Maybe she hadn't heard him properly! Imagine having contradicting worldviews.

Here's the thing: something being logical and something being factual didn't make it right.

Your average trainer would have seen nothing wrong with the man's explanation. He hadn't been cold, he hadn't been rude, he'd just openly stated the facts and the reasoning behind his motives. Decent motives, most people would agree.

There was no flaw in his mechanics-- Jess was just driving a different machine.

He'd said it himself. Groudon was a byproduct. He didn't care about the wounded titan any more than he cared about random strangers.

Well, Jess didn't care about Rocket or time travel or goddamn Sootopolis. Not any more than she cared about the ego of privileged civilians playing Gotta Catch 'Em All in the ashes of an eruption. She cared about a big, injured Pokemon that everyone else in this godforsaken region had given up on just because it'd eaten its last trainer, so anyone who tried to plant faction politics in her way could get lost.

"So sick of these goddamn League regions," Jess muttered to herself as she picked her way down the cave entrance Fletchinder had found. She didn't trust a freshly-dug tunnel any more than she trusted an unpaved road-- she'd take her chances with the natural cave formations, thanks. The bird swooped ahead of her, tucking its wings smartly. She was trusting the native Pokemon's Flame Body ability to protect it from any lava-related surprises, though she couldn't say the same for herself and Dodrio.

"That's about deep enough," she said after some time descending into the depths, hauling on the reins to stop her mount. A red glow lit the tunnels, signifying active magma nearby. Can't believe I came back here of my own free will, she thought, mopping sweat from her brow. Back for more lava. Come and get me, Groudon.

The big guy-- Zac?-- had claimed his two Heatran would check on Groudon if they found it, but depending where the tunnels led, there was no guarantee either of them were on the right track. In reality, both tunnels led to the same inner cave network, though Jess had been forced to double back once or twice due to cave-ins and dead ends.

"All right, Dodrio. Lemme hear your Uproar."

Swordlike beaks opened, throats swelling with discordant birdsong. A chorus of three guttural shrieks, each at a different pitch from a different head, built to a crescendo. Jess plugged her ears and braced herself, grateful that years of piloting a helicopter had trained her to block out loud noises.

The tunnels carried the sound like screaming winds, an unearthly noise sure to stir Groudon from its slumber. If there were any signs of life, there was nothing like a living alarm clock to piss it off enough to wake it.

RETURN TO CAMP CHIMNEY

PRIMAL ENERGY can be detected within the mountain in weaker degrees. However, there are no signs of the red orb and its fragments. Still, the magma pulses with Groudon's old energy.

Perhaps, some of this sought after energy comes from ancient times, when Groudon roamed in its primal state. However, some of this energy is fresher: a consequence of recent times.

Still, as everyone continues to search the mountain, collected data will eventually reveal that the levels of primal energy are at a low constant... save for seared markings underground from Regidrago's DRAGON ENERGY attacks.

Zac half expected a flash of light or a beep when the node was planted. Instead it just sat there, like an iron flower growing from the rock. "You said there were four of these, right?" he asked, inspecting the thing. Zac wasn't a tech wizard like some of his friends, but he knew science when he saw it. "Let's look for the next site. Probably need to triangulate a signal, so somewhere deeper would be better, right?"

Tunnels branched from the central chamber, some clogged and some twisting, but all sweltering. "We headed in at the base of the mountain and hit a central chamber with a river of lava," Zac said. "A bit like this one, but lower, I think. Then we got attacked by Regidrago, that big guy who blasted Groudon up in the crater. We knocked him out of the way and escaped through a side passage." Zac shrugged. It had been pretty straight-forward at the time. "What was it like up on the mountain?"

Zac was picking between two seemingly identical tunnels when a terrible, shuddering cry filled the cavern. The mush of unpleasant notes shook the air and made Zac's hair curl. He covered his ears, and Kev ground his face against the wall in irritation. A flurry of Woobat, startled by the noise, streamed in from a side tunnel. They wheeled in the chamber before escaping as the harsh shrieks faded. Zac turned to Amor. "That sounded like a bird. I reckon Jess is in trouble. Kev, head towards the vibrations!"

The Steelix hesitated, and then slithered slowly towards one of the thicker tunnels. It led East and further down, into the heart of the mountain. "Down here?" Zac asked Kev, and the iron snake nodded in confirmation. "Let's go then!" They took the tunnel down, spooking mountain natives back into their tunnels. Sandshrew, Roggenrola, and Diglett popped out of sight as they hurried passed.

Underneath, strange rumblings shuddered through the earth, and Zac could hear movement ahead. "Amor, keep an eye out. A screech like that probably woke up half the mountain," he said, jogging between rough stone. He vaulted a chunk, feeling an iron weight of worry settle in his chest, "and any big predators will be heading straight for that wounded bird."

Zac Inspected the node - it's very sciencey
Zac heard Dodrio's screech
He's was worried that Dodrio was wounded
Kev tracked the sound and they headed towards Jess (downward)
The screech alerted lots of Pokemon in the mountain and predators are closing in on Jess

Amor drank in all the information that Zac was presenting him with, about his encounter with Regidrago down here in the volcano, about how he just appeared in one of the many chambers of this place, and how they just escaped. From that point on Amor knew what happened with Regidrago getting amped up with one of those red shards, and then blasting the calmed down Groudon. However that didn't explain the strange roar that he had heard, nor the way the sun had acted when they attacked it. It absorbed their attacks, what happened to them afterward he didn't know, but it was all strange. Since he did have three more of these to plant he hoped that Jarvis would be able to find something a bit more concrete for him, but if nothing turned up, it would be alright.

"It was a bit hectic. Groudon was rampaging obviously, there was that artificial sun in the sky which I tried to destroy, but to no avail it simply absorbed everything we put into it. I was half tempted to fly into it if I'm being honest, but I decided against it." He laughed a little half musing about the situation. "Then we found out that the red orb Groudon had, if it was hit by a Pokemon that had Mega Evolved it could distort time. Which is how we prevented the eruption from happening in the present. Hit the orb hard enough to open up a temporal gate to the past, and let the eruption happen harmlessly there, well mostly harmlessly." He said remembering how it had terraformed the landscape. That was what intrigued Amor the most, the power to distort time, to control it. For what he wanted to achieve he needed that power.

"Aside from all that, it was relatively peaceful comparatively." He explained, and then that is when he heard the sound at about the same time as Zac. The Gym Leader acted first as was to be expected, Amor had thought that others would be smart enough to avoid trouble, but when Zac bolted off with his Steelix who had found their third kinda companion. Amor turned to Draco who had been guarding him closely this entire time, and his Pokemon was at a disadvantage down here with no room to stretch his wings. "Alright bud I gotta get Typhon, don't worry about me to much alright? It's only lava down here." He smiled at the Dragonite who looked like it wanted to protest being swapped out, but he agreed, if reluctantly. "Typon you're up!" He stated to as he recalled Draco, and in a burst of white his Garchomp stood up in front of him.

Like Draco he was ready to take on anyone, and everyone that got to close, but Amor had other orders for him after hearing Zac ask him to keep a look out.

"No worries. Typhon you heard the man, make sure nothing to big gets close to us! Watch my back!" He told his Garchomp as he headed down the tunnel towards the sound of the screeching Dodrio, Typhon behind him making sure that anything that seemed to hostile, and got to close got a taste of his claws.

Jess wasn't surprised when the magma curtain parted to reveal not Groudon, but four irritated-looking Magcargo. She was just disappointed.

"Y'know, they say those things are hotter than the sun," Jess said to the closest Dodrio head, who stopped its personal contribution to Uproar immediately. One of the other heads squawked something at her. "Hang on, hold your horses. I want to stick around for a minute..."

A Salazzle slithered up the ceiling, its purple tongue flickering hungrily like flame. The volcanic rock of the caves began to tremble, but not from a stirring Groudon-- from Graveler in the walls, breaking themselves free from the silica in rough, sharp-edged chunks. They flexed powerful arms and legs, turning towards the source of the terrible noise.

The Uproar dissolved as Dodrio's last head turned on her. She was unanimously outvoted.

"Damn it," Jess cursed as the Triple Bird wheeled around, talons dancing on rough rock. "Must be deeper in. All right, bird, get us out of here."

She wouldn't lie and say she'd expected every predator on the mountain to come out of the woodwork, but it told her a lot. Surprised there's so many around after the big eruption. When they'd raided Mt. Chimney, she'd seen almost no signs of wild Pokemon save for the Archeops who'd poured out of the time rifts from the primal world.

Groudon's corrupted presence had spelled disaster for the native inhabitants. If they were back, even after the recent eruption--

Groudon isn't here.

Or if it was, it was so powered-down (dare we say dead) that it didn't show up on these Pokemon's radar. Not the way a screaming Dodrio did, anyway.

"Run Away!"

They fled pell-mell down the lave tube shaft, towards higher ground. Run Away was Dodrio's ability, and Jess'd be lying if she said she didn't fall back on it more times than she could count to get away from pissed-off wild Pokemon. Wasn't great, but she wasn't worried (except about the damn legendary probably rotting in the crater).

...Then she ran straight into the massive, cavern-sized head of a Steelix. A familiar red-haired man was perched in the center of it like a comically small hat.

She hadn't been expecting a rescue.

"...Aw, hell. Watch out, Big Red, they're right behind us!"

Dodrio didn't hesitate-- its claws carried it right up and over the Steelix's head, launching off its chiseled titanium cheekbones. Three heads ducked to avoid the encroaching cave ceiling. One head (Jess's) didn't make it in time.

BONK.

"OW! Son of a bitch!"

Dodrio hopped and sprung from stone to stone on Steelix's back, paying little attention to its (probably concussed) rider. Jess managed to groan acknowledgement as she saw Amor and his Garchomp closer to Steelix's tail-- with the number of Graveler rolling after her, Zac would need all the help he could get.

Amor and Zac chatted, filling each other in on the other halves of the leadup to the fight with Groudon. "We shot the eruption back in time..." Zac said, mulling it over. The AQUA reports had mentioned something similar. He still found it impossible to wrangle that fact into an acceptable conclusion.

His mind moved faster than his mouth, bubbling like a nondescript carbonated beverage as unfinished thoughts popped and fizzed. Time travel? Influencing the past? If we shot all that lava into the past...where did it go? When did it go? Should it have changed Mt. Chimney in the present? Did it change and we just didn't notice it?

"...Aw, hell. Watch out, Big Red, they're right behind us!" Zac's eyes refocused as Jess and her triple-bird leapt up, onto Kev, and then over in a flurry of kicking legs and sleek feathers. "OW! Son of a bitch!" said Jess. Her rowdy language was backed by an incoming rumble. An avalanche of Graveler were rolling down the tunnel towards them!

No time to turn around. "Kev! Dig!" Zac shouted, and he held on to the Pokemon's crackly skin as it smashed into the rocky ground. Kev's shovel chin carved through the floor, and he almost lost his little red hat as he burrowed downward. In moments Kev and Zac was gone, leaving a giant pitfall in his wake.

The horde of Graveler clunked and grumbled as they started to rolled into the fresh tunnel, bouncing off the walls as they fell towards the escaping pair.

Zac thought about time travel
Jess appears, bringing Graveler!
Zac and Kev dig down, making a hole deeper into mountain to lead them away!
The Graveler start to fall down the hole after them

The problem with being in such a confined space is that it really limited his maneuverability. Despite the two of them having such a nice chat a few moments ago, chaos quickly ensued when Jess leapt over Zac in an attempt to get away from their would be pursuers, and that forced Zac to dig straight down leading the Graverler away. Well they were in a tightly packed hole, and if they really wanted to do away with them for a while Amor had a plan so he leaned over into the hole, and yelled as loudly as he could at his companion.

"Zac take cover! Get your Pokemon clear now!" He roared into the hole, and then he took a step back, and gave Typhon a nod. The Garchomp leaned over the hole, and built up some energy before expelling it in the form of a Dragon Breath attack straight down the narrow tube that Zac had created. Amor hoped that his friend would hear him, and take cover. The premise was simple while they were chasing Zac they would get hit from behind, and paralyzed by the breath of his Garchomp, and without any immediate medical aid they would be motionless for a few hours at least. Sure they might take a little damage, but it was nothing compared to the danger of fighting them underneath the volcano.

Though he was sure Zac could keep leading them away, but Amor didn't like being separated from the group, that was how bad things happened to people, and he was not about to become another statistic on some poll of the world. Jess, and her Dodrio had settled closer to Amor as they hadn't fallen down the hole yet, and he just sighed a bit at the troublesome person. If Zac got hurt because of them, he would leave them buried here to melt away.

"Assuming my plan worked we should go make sure Zac is alright. And try to not wake up the mountain this time." He shook his head at her, and leaping on his Garchomp's back it went down the tunnel quickly to catch up to the Gym Leader, and his Steelix. When they got to him, he began to survey the area for traces of his friend, Typhon was sticking close to him just in case those Graveler came back for round two, and Amor couldn't help, but be impressed with the marvel beauty of being inside a volcano technically. This was something he never imagined he would be able to do as a kid, and yet here he was.
