The perfect formation and response from Cian's team scored and easy point. Really, the only person on Zac's team who was into the battle was Wanda. 

"come on guys! Put a bit more effort into it!" Zac said, helpfully. Nyx the Hypno responded the only way he knew how: with METRONOME. Zac watched, intrigued by the teamwork of Cian's team. He went to take a sip of his Charja-Cola, only to find that the can was gone. "Hey!" he shouted, as Hypno downed the almost-full can. 

Nyx's fur began to glow, as the cola took effect. Pink fur gave way to searing purple, then pure red, then a searing, glowing aura of crimson cola. "It..it's beautiful," breathed Zac. 



Nyx floated above the sand, his red fur burning like a sunset. Blaziken set the ball, and Nyx moved. He was faster than Zac's eyes could follow. There was a smear of red in the air, and then the Spheal ball was plummeting towards Onix.

"Of course not! I'll take anyone who's willing to test their strength!" Zac said, trotting over to shake the hand of the challenger. 

"Like you said, anything goes! Mega evolve, Z-Move, whatever it takes! Throw the bloody kitchen sink at him if you've got one!" Zac laughed, and retrieving an ice-cold can of complimentary Charja-Cola from his Rotom fridge. He handed it to Vic. Whether he drank the super-powered drink or fed it to his Pokemon was up to him. "The name's Zac Ramsay, by the way. Pleased to meet ya!"

Zac thought back to how they'd gotten here. He backtracked. Magnezone had finished off the already battered Venusaur in one fell swoop. That Tri-Attack had burnt, paralyzed, and finally frozen the giant plant. Zac had returned a Venucicle.  

"And she's got a bit more to offer then just air, too," Zac replied, as Yanmega shot past him in a rush of wing and thrumming wings. She alighted on some chunks of beach stone far down hear the headland, suddenly still. Moments later, the dragonfly rushed back along the beach, rocks in tow as she made another pass at Magnezone, this time aiming to zip past and smash her enemy with an ANCIENT POWER.

Walrein pays little attention to the rolling Blissey. Instead, she is focused on the bounteous golden filling that is inside Blissey's egg. It's amazing, it's rich and succulent. It's everything she ever dreamed it would be. 

Walrein caresses the egg with tender ICE FANGS, carving off thin slices of the albumin, and occasionally dipping in to taste more of the gorgeous yolk. It is a one-woman feast, and she wouldn't have it any other way.

Zac returned Vanessa's adorable introduction with a warm handshake and a broad smile. "I'm in the market for a battle!" he said, excitedly. "What did you have in mind?"

Before she could explain, Zac opened up his Rotom fridge and pulled out two cans of Charja-Cola. "It's a bit hot, yeah?" he asked, handing one of the cans to his newest friend. Despite the evening wind blowing in off the sea, there was still a terrible heat lingering on the streets, beach, and boardwalks. 

Zac cracked open his own can and wiped the back of his neck with a moisture-covered hand. "Sorry, you were saying?"

"Standard rules," Zac said, hefting the Spheal in his hand to get a feel for the weight of it. "3v3 plus trainers, and try not to get hit! ORDER UP!" With that comprehensive introduction, Zac hurled the Spheal upwards. The Pokemon made a joyful 'Fweeeee' sound, right up until Kingler spiked it down towards Michail and his team.

Walrein noticed the egg and rolled to a stop. She turned his head, regarding the large, semi-spherical delicacy. She licked her lips.

If there was one thing Samu loved, ALL Walrein loved, it was eggs. She waddled forward, flippers slapping the sand as she approached EGG. 

Tentatively, she stuck out her long, red tongue, intent on tasting the rare treat.

"A signed case of Charja-Cola to anyone who can get this lazy bull up and battling!" Zac shouted. A few people were interested, and they formed a line. Fifteen minutes later they had all shot their shot, and Bulu was still snoozing under the palm trees.

The referee blew their whistle to announce the start of the Sphealball match. "Let's get this match started! Serve!" shouted Zac, tossing the ball to Blaziken. 

Wanda sent the Spheal soaring into the sky with a devastating SKY UPPERCUT. In a few seconds it would come plummeting back down on Cian's side like an icy comet.

"You hate the sun?" Zac asked, wondering how anyone could be against such a brilliant, shining feature. Hoenn was famous for it's sunshine! "It's bright, it's good for you, and without it we wouldn't have plants or seasons or life! What's not to love?" Zac didn't know how anyone could hate the sun. 

Tentacle blasted the incoming ball with a BUBBLE BEAM. The jet hit the Jigglypuff, sending it whizzing back towards Lars with some wicked top-spin.

Zac's team were all lined up along the table, ready for the arm wrestle. The gym leader eyes his opponent. Did the man have a metal arm? Surely that was cheating. "Well, if he's going to give himself a little advantage, it's only fair." Thick dune grass sprouted under the table, and Zac felt a surge of strength. 

Up first was Swampert. The wet arm wrestler grabbed its opponent's hand with a juicy MUD SLAP, and attempted to pin their arm with its powerful upper body.

Like all good Gym Leaders, Zac had made sure to match the strength of his opponent. Tangrowth was clumsy, Blastoise was still getting used to her evolved body, Kingler was a scaredy cat, and Tapu Bulu's napping could rival Boruta's! It wasn't fun to stomp an opponent. 

Only Odium had been a real challenge, and he had managed to knock out two of the other man's Pokemon. And now it was down to Nyx, who Zac liked to throw into battles purely for his own enjoyment. But he'd never tell his opponent any of that.

"You're going great mate! Are you sure this is your first fight against a Gym Leader?" Zac asked, as sand sprayed out from Rhyhorn's crater. "Time for another Metronome, ay Nyx?"

Nyx glowed. First bright pink, and then darkening to searing, violent orange. Hypno brought his hands together in a V shape. "What? Nyx! No!" Zac said, as the Hypno sent a blast of familiar flames at Rhyhorn. The V-CREATE seared a trail of molten glass through the sand as it surged towards the poor Pokemon that was still struggling to get out of its crater.

Zac drifted out into the flooded safari zone, paddling gently so as not to scare away the subjects of his documentary. His Tirtouga swam beside the kayak, capturing footage of the creatures below. "Life started in the ocean," Zac narrated into his waterproof mic, "and it has continued to evolve and iterate for hundreds of millions of years." 

His kayak glided over the top of a school of Finneon and they scattered, taking refuge in holes in the coral. "So today we're exploring the gorgeous variety of creatures that make their homes under the waves."

"On my way Fern!" Zac called, pushing through the crowd of Charja-Cola enthusiasts and carefully making his way across the bar. He was already feeling tipsy and his can was only half empty. Drinking was far from his area of expertise, and the strongest thing Zac had drank in the last six months was a cup of warm milk at 's house. 

"What are we talkin' about?" Zac asked, joining the table of friends and looking around with a slightly lopsided grin. He took another, small, sip. The taste was great, but he was worried about the ramifications for his head tomorrow. I bet my powers work on hangovers.

Volcarona swooped down as the wave built behind Milotic. The flaming moth summoned roaring balls of MYSTIC FIRE that burnt through the surf as they flew straight for Milotic. It was a dangerous maneuver, but if the hit collided it might burn and weaken Milotic.

Meanwhile, the wave hit Volcarona, tumbling her across the sands in a wet wash. She skidded to a halt, flapping her wings to dry them before feebly taking to the sky again. "That's the way!" Zac cheered from the sidelines. This was one hell of a match!
