Kama did her best to weave through her opponent's ranged attacks. It wasn't long before she realized it would be difficult to get in range— at least, while staying unhurt.

Her scythes blurred as she attempted a distraction, throwing out walls of wind towards her opponent before quickly blurring as she leapt high in the air, her wings spreading wide as she attempted to soar over her opponent's offensive.

Kama would've puffed up her chest and looked at her trainer smugly had she been in a position to answer to the child's young words—

As it was however, she was a little too busy getting battered by rocks, rushing around the battlefield with grunts and hisses. Making a sharp turn, she rushed Hero once again, blurring out of view as she leapt in the air before attempting to drop down on her opponent.

For his part, Doug grinned at Lucia.

"She would appreciate that, thanks!"

Vs Lucia Aldrete

The Scyther yelped, bringing her scythes together to try and block the other's tail as it drilled away against her steel, her feet digging into the earth as the force sent her skidding back, sinking several inches into the battlefield.

"I can tell." Doug said with a nod, smiling at the battle unfolding. It had been a while since he had fought such a young trainer; Hideo and Eris didn't even count anymore, without how experienced they had become after years in Hoenn.

He almost would've rather instructed her than fought for victory... but this was a tourney for Kama, not him. Whether she won or not would be up to her.

"Kama's also one of my first pokemon." He said, chuckling. "As you can probably tell. She's a bit old now."

And still trying to prove she could hang with the younger crowds... Speaking of which. Kama leapt forth once again, closing in the distance between herself and Hero before lunging for a close strike.

Vs Lucia Aldrete

The two pokemon clashed against one another. The Dunsparce proved surprisingly agile despite it's size and seeming weight, it and Kama exchanging heavy blows without managing to land a real heavy hitter.

Taking a step back in their next clash, Kama switched her approach without warning, attempting to suddenly weave the Dunsparce heavy blow by leaping over it, swinging her club-like scythe at her opponent from above.

From his side, Doug blinked in surprise at Lucia's words, before smiling brightly. "Thanks! Your Dunsparce is pretty cool too!" He replied back cheerfully. "You've trained him well!"

"Hoooh..." He released the breath he hadn't realized he was holding, eyes wide as Chomper collapsed after a hell of a close contest. "Kama won... Oh, shit! Kama, you won!"

It came belated; how could it not, when the tourney had been so rough until now for them? This was the first win in a while they had managed to snag, and it took him a moment to realize just how important this would be for Kama. Running up to her excitedly, the youth grabbed his pokemon by the waist and lifted the exhausted, equally surprised Scyther in the air.

"You did it, Kama!" He shouted cheerfully, to which the Scyther could only slowly blink, before raising her scythes in the air, basking in a short moment of glory.

Placing her back down on the floor, Doug turned back to his opponent before jogging up to her, waving.

"Hey! You guys did great back there. Thanks for the match!"

It came down to this. One last clash.

Based on their tournament record alone— this was not in Kama's favor. They were praying for a miracle here.

"Do your best, Kama!" He shouted as his Scyther threw herself forward, lunging towards her opponent for one last blow.

Yet another loss to the record books.

"You did your best." Doug said, patting his Scyther's wounds away before rising up, waving at the princess of Galar. "Thanks for the match, Ambassador. See you around, and best luck in the tournament."

Kama felt a little better at landing one blow— but it was just that. One blow. No matter how strong, it wasn't enough to win her the battle— but it gave her the chance to try and turn things around.

Power Gems flew towards her as she lunged towards the ghost yet again, and she felt fear strike at her, knowing she didn't have much left in her.

With as much agility as she had left, she attempted to weave through the projectiles as she advanced, taking another swipe towards the ghost.

Kama was getting bodied.

Nothing seemed to be working. Even Doug was getting a little frustrated for her, watching her bounce around with gems encrusted unto her chitin armor.

As she rose, she released a furious scream before rushing forward, arm swinging wildly as she took a wild swing at her opponent, unleashing a terrifying blade of neon green light.

TL;DR:

With her opponent thrashing about and making a very firm case for weight classes, Kama found herself in very unfortunate circumstances— unfortunate enough that she really had no choice but to go all out for real.

Otherwise known as—

A crimson aura rose around the Scyther before gathering around her scythes, her eyes narrowing as she released a furious roar and began to swing her arms wildly, throwing about walls of high-pressured wind around herself.

"B-but I wasn't talking to..." Doug fell into a surly silence while Kama got chomped for her reckless efforts, her opponent truly living up to his name.

As searing fangs bit into her chitinous armor, Kama roared and hissed in her best impression of a rabid beast, before attempting to demonstrate to the dragon why one should treat a lady with more tact.

Folding her Scythes inwards, the Scyther attempted to punch the dragon's stomach repeatedly, swinging wildly with her arms like clubs.

"Oh! Good to see ya 'round, Major!" Doug greeted cheerfully as he arrived at the assigned arena, still dressed in his scrubs. "It ain't good for ya, staying cooped up in the lab all the time."

He hadn't seen Eva in a while— was the AQUA meeting gone to shit back August 2023 the last time they had more or less addressed one another directly? He thought so.

"Has the tourney been going well for ya?" He asked as he sauntered to his side of the field, his Scyther following behind him. "If I argue my goal's just to have fun, then I'm probably doing the best out of anyone in the tourney!"

If the goal was to win, though...

He snickered.

Kama narrowed her gaze as her opponent was hurled back.

Fire— that had been fire in the dragon's maw. Damn it.

"Don't get impatient!" Doug reminded her, hands cupped around his mouth. "You're a bug type, you're used to type disadvantage!"

Right. Keep a cool head, avoid falling into your opponent's rhythm, and keep them under your control.

Kama's scythes blurred, shockwaves suddenly blasting towards Chomper as her scythes cracked along the air.
