"You good?!" He asked Kama with his hands cupped around his mouth as she bounced across the ground several times before crashing into the arena's wall and flopping facedown to the floor.

A groan came in response, before Kama leapt back to her feet. She wobbled briefly, glancing down at her abdomen— which sported cracked chitin all over and looked like it would fall apart any moment now.

Well shit.

Keep away it is.

Her scythes blurred, launching walls of wind towards the martial arts bear while she tried to think of how to turn this around.

"But if you take this from me, I got nothin' left!" He protested with a grin, making his nowhere near as jovial scyther scoff.

She knew better than anyone how bad their record in the tourney was. Needless to say, they had fallen far from their HsT era... But she could still COME BACK FROM THIS!

Facing her opponent with determination gleaming in her eyes, the Scyther launched towards the machamp with a war cry, her silhouette blurring as she attempted to feint and bait the large titan before striking for their head with a leaping somersault.

Perhaps against all odds, Lucia and Hero managed to clutch the win!

Then again, Doug and Kama's record in the tourney hadn't exactly been stellar, so perhaps the odds weren't quite as bad as one might guess based on their ages...

"Congrats!" He said as he crossed the battlefield to greet her, petting his exhausted Scyther on the head as he did. Her wounds began to heal in an instant, seemingly by magic.

"I hope you had fun!"

With perhaps more grace than even she expected, Kama managed to drop low and evade the headbutt to her back, before using her scythes to throw herself back and away.

Doug hummed. Having retaken the lead, this seemed like a good time to go all out and try and end it.

Reaching for the Z-crystal around his wrist, Doug did a little shimmy dance as his Scyther's arm was enveloped in a red haze, the bug cocking her arm far back before releasing a roar as she unleashed her move, a torrent of winds enveloping the arena.

Doug stuck his tongue out at her, pulling down on his lower eyelid as he did.

For her part, Kama got a faceful of mud and a rising temper, her scythes quivering as they blurred, sending walls of wind hurtling at the small pokemon.

He pet his laying Scyther on the head, her wounds sealing up as he did.

"Ya did good, buddy. Rest up." He said while she rolled her eyes and huffed. When was the fun supposed to start again?

"We gotta make our own fun." He said with a laugh that almost sounded like a sigh, before returning her to her ball. "Congrats, Head Ranger. Best luck in the tourney."

Kama's aerial offensive was brought to a halt by the Shaymin's artillery, one of the energy balls clipping her side and sending her hurtling back down like a crashing jet.

She managed to recover however, correcting her balance moments before hitting the dirt, landing with surprising lightness on her feet before immediately launching forward into a lunge, her scythes stretching out towards her opponent.

He almost looked offended, glancing between his scrubs and her before huffing.

"This brat... I ain't 'charmed' anyone." He huffed. "Do I not get to have friends that are girls?"

Kama yelped as she got slapped in the face, narrowing her eyes furiously before taking a hasty swipe with her scythes, generating a solid wall wall of winds at the Wopper.

With the fight well underway, the crowd's roaring rose and fell with the ebb and flow of combat, each clash between the two pokemon drawing low gasps and excited cheers.

Having managed to grab a lucky lead at the start of the fight, Kama was eager to maintain the dominant position in the battle, going for an aggressive offensive.

Still, she lacked the toolset to truly pressure her opponent, with no supereffective moves and only a singular unresisted move at her disposal. She had to play it smart.

Her arms would constantly blur, her Vacuum Waves blowing against her opponent to keep her at bay while trying to fish for an opening with her feints. And when she thought she saw one...

She lunged!

"I can empathize with that." He said with a chuckle. The ER wasn't the best place to find a fight— but hey. "Come on. Let's shake off the rust together."

Tournaments in Hoenn could be pretty good for that, what with the ridiculous number of matches they often involved. Lucky for them that they didn't need to worry about elimination.

Kama stepped forward, the Scyther stretching out as Doug marched for his place in the arena, before turning to face their opponents.

"Ready?" Doug called out from the other side, his Scyther lowering her stance as she prepared. Once the go was given... "Give it yer all, Kama!"

With a nod, the Scyther launched forth, arms flashing as she narrowed the distance between herself and her opponents with her arm cocked back.

Kama bounced back as she got dragon rushed, wheezing at the pain wracking at her chest. The battle had started out in her favor, but whether it was due to bad luck, age catching up to her, or even a skill issue, the fight had turned into a close match.

But she had no intention of giving up now. Lowering herself to a low crouch, she launched forth for one last clash.
