He senses the grass-type's aggression before it can even get close. Without warning Ryu, darts ahead of Xander, his fists coated in a blue aura. He catches the Turtwig's jaw mid-Crunch attack and holds it open. [break][break] Its attempted sneak attack thwarted, Turtwig lashes out with a Mega Drain. Deep green energy leaks out from Ryu's body, and his strength fails him. Facing less resistance, Turtwig clamps down hard on one of Ryu's arms before he can pull it back. He cries out in pain, and it's muffled by the sandstorm. [break][break] Taking advantage of the situation, Turtwig lifts Ryu up from the ground and sends him flying with a flick of its head. Xander reacts and catches Ryu in his arms before he hits the ground. Ryu wears a heavy scowl and rolls out of Xander's arms and onto the sand. [break][break] "Hey chill, you're hurt," Xander says, nodding for Vex to take care of the situation. Ryu barks, however, and Xander can't help but look puzzled. "You can't be serious. Just look at you're arm." it's bleeding, and it's easy to see that Ryu's having difficulty moving it. [break][break] Despite this, Riolu is content to keep fighting. He growls, digging his feet into the sand and locking eyes with the Turtwig. Xander is tempted to return the Pokemon to his Pokeball. He fights the urge - something about the Pokemon's determination stopping him.[break][break] "Ok." Xander straightens and secures his goggles to his face. "Then we're doing this together." Ryu nods, readying himself for round two. The pair are perfectly in-sync as the Turtwig charges forward and attempts to attack.[break][break] Riolu kicks off the ground and into the air. He flips so that his feet are pointed upward and his hands down. Turtwig passes just underneath him when Xander calls out, "Force Palm!" a jet of aura escapes from Ryu's feet - sending him rocketing down. The palm of his good arm slams down on the top of Turtwig's shell. The moment it does, Ryu sends a pulse of aura through his arm and into Turtwig. [break][break] Turtwig squeals. Ryu pushes himself off the turtle's back. He flips in the air, landing back on the ground with his back to the Pokemon. It's that exact moment when Xander chooses to toss his Pokeball at Turtwig. He's too distracted to see if it works, however. The bright light that has suddenly enveloped Ryu's body immediately drawing his attention. [break][break] "No way." it's only there for a second, and when it fades - Ryu is a Riolu no longer. A freshly evolved Lucario wearing a pancho two-sizes too small stands proudly in the sand.[break][break] Excited, Xander's hardened exterior drops briefly and he looks to Sénon with a grin.
