Elinor led the woman past the perimeter of defenses they had set up. The Steelix could not follow due to its size. None of the two other people there questioned it either. They did not get paid enough to question council-members.

“Oh really?” She mused, at Shizue’s statement. “What makes you so sure of that?” From what she knew Paranoia wasn’t exactly something easily spottable.

It didn’t take long for them to reach the port. Elinor gestured for Shizue to do her thing and prove her identity. Unfortunately the port was linked up to everything else, but that was not exactly a thought Elinor considered herself with right now.

Sucker Point hit, and it hit hard. But it seemed Clodsire’s poison was doing its best too alongside the Megahorn. But Clodsire could take a hit, and with a bit of RECOVERy she was fit to continue.

Elinor watched the Absol try as it tried to force itself onto its knees, before it collapsed.

“Her name is Chloe.” Elinor stated, she figured the information was harmless even to someone like the man in front of her.

“So, are you yielding or do you want to continue this?” Her objective was the communications site. If that meant overlooking one or two escapees, well that didn’t bother her for now.

Momentary surprise hit Elinor as Blackjack made a rather cynical joke at his own expense. Honestly, she didn’t like that thought, but she hid it well enough the moment she realized it was there.

By Arceus, she wished it wasn’t such a common story in Hoenn. You would think with lax taxation and free healthcare, people would do better. But yet another piece of evidence to the contrary stood before her.

Blackjack spoke and she listened, a small smile formed on her lips as she readied to reply. “Burnout renegades? No.” She paused. “People with the heart, mind and will to help the League do better, yes.”

That sounds truly delicious. Elinor thought, swallowing the saliva that had begun to fill her mouth.

“I am sure they will. My Pokémon aren’t picky eaters.” She said as Faelan showed the dry pellets.

“But how much of it can you spare?” She inquired. “My Pokémon are quite large, and usually their appetite fits their size.”

Soyeon posed a very good question, an excellent question even had Elinor been in the mood to talk this over. But she wasn’t.

Urged on by the paranoia of the realm, the feeling of danger ever present. High on adrenaline, she was far from thinking logically about this. Even if she was trying to seem calm.

“With Rocket running rampant and trying to disrupt League operations, we can’t take ANY chances.” Was Elinor’s response.

The Metagros went in for a Zen Headbutt, allowing Sceptile’s blades to hit, but they seemed to do little damage as the metallic beast trampled forward, pushing the Sceptile away.

Sceptile’s claws dug deep into the ground as it tried to bring the Metagross to a halt. It sent a pulse of Grass Energy through its feet, and quickly FRENZY PLANT roots shot up from the ground, trying to pin the Metagross in its place.

A wide toothy smirk appeared on the Aggron as he felt his claws strike true, knocking out the Dragapult. But what joy he felt was quickly killed when the Ninetales and its shadow fire took to the field.

Aggron tried to move as fast as it could, but it was slow, still it felt the sizzling heat at its tail. It groaned in pain, as a jet of water was fired at the Ninetales in retaliation. Hopefully the Mega infused HYDRO PUMP would be enough.

Kommo-o and Elinor both fell victims to the Scatterbang.

Its loud distracting noise ringing in each ear. But if Jayden thought a bit of noise would startle the Kommo-o into inaction, then he would be sorely disappointed. But once again he turned the tables on them, a swift flying kick aimed at Kommo-o’s face. The sheer audacity to think much less try a normal human kick startled him.

Kommo-o didn’t know what was worst. The fact Jayden probably thought a Pokémon capable of taking hits from building destroying attacks would feel pain from it or the fact that it worked well enough to startle him.

But the Doublade found their escape and had Kommo-o’s sole objective not been to protect its trainer, they might even have succeeded in taking down the Council-member. But Kommo-o charged past Jayden, dragging along the Stickiness of the glob aiming to deflect the oncoming sacred sword with a THUNDER PUNCH of its own.

Meanwhile Elinor was just doing her best to stay alive, honestly. She was starting to think that running away might be a wise pathway to take. But she needed to do so knowing Lars would escape as well!

Like salty spring-water, did Aggron’s tears flow freely. It’s ugly crying growing stronger and stronger ever urged on by the Realm.

Then a presence became apparent to it. It looked up, quickly trying to hide away tears and snot with a few quick wipes of its metallic arm.

The Metagross that appeared looked familiar. But sure this was just another illusion formed by the mist.

The mist did not grant the Metal Behemoth even a moment's respite. The voice grew crueler, reminding it of the failure it was.

Aggron didn’t know how long it walked, how much of the mist it breathed. But each step quickly grew heavier than what it could move.

Soon the Aggron gave in, lying down on the cold rocky ground in the fetal position as it sobbed, and cried its heart out. Mourning what was sure to be a loss for it, for it had heard many stories of Team Rocket and their evil from Elinor.

It barely registered that something or someone was coming closer.

The woman seemed hesitant at first, but then hesitation turned to aggression and all was lost. Even the woman’s ramblings did not sate the fight response that welled up in Elinor and Sceptile as the Flash Cannon flew past them.

Sceptile jumped into action charging at the Metagross. Glowing leaves extending into a pair of LEAF BLADES as it aimed to smack the Metagross right in the face.

Aggron walked ever onward pink swirls of mist obscuring its vision, and perhaps its mind.

The sound of human footsteps nearby, a familiar scent followed soon after.

But that could not be. Surely it was only the mist playing pranks on him to fuel paranoia.

And it would be partially correct, though neither the smell nor the footsteps would be a part of it. But the faint echo of Elinor's voice saying "Help me" from seemingly everywhere and nowhere at the same time certainly was.

Aggron began to beg and plead in its rough metallic growls, begging for the mist to stop, and pleading for the capture of its trainer to only be a nightmare that it would wake from.

Aggron’s steps were growing heavy, burdened by guilt, sadness and the anger of having been unable to protect its trainer, alongside a variety of bruises, cuts.

In its arms it carried Elinor’s Trainer belts, Pokéball upon Pokéball attached to each of them. It thought about how it would break the news… Honestly it didn’t want to.

It was so lost in thought that it didn’t even realize that it stumbled into thick pink mist, the likes of which had given birth to the beastly Roaring Moon that Elinor had recently caught.

For a moment it almost sounded like Shizue was sympathizing with Rocket. But Elinor decided that such a line of thought wasn't exactly something she needed to pursue.

Instead she focused on the lack of identification. Honestly that was perhaps the most suspicious thing she could’ve said. Going somewhere this unsafe without ID well that almost screamed Rocket.

But there was still a chance that she might’ve just been in a hurry. And so she decided to give her the benefit of the doubt and said.

“Sure, I think we have a port you can use.”

Elinor gestured for the woman to follow. Steelix’s gaze never wavering once.
