Feeling threatened or not the man would prove no danger to Elinor. The time she had bought by pushing away the gun and trainer was enough to allow the steel serpent to make its way back to her. Having managed to somehow gain the upper hand on the flying foes in the process. It turned the tide of battle even as the Kartana met with the pain-roused shadow Claw.

Now two to one the battle was finished rather easily. While she might’ve been inclined to end the life of this poor sod, she had a legal obligation to be better than that, even if the anger seething deep inside of her demanded justice.

And so she went to look for Comfey’s trainer. And she quickly found the pair. And without asking questions she began to help, removing the canvas as quickly as she possibly could and then moving on to freeing the man, leverage or not. But that was not all. The moment he was free, the moment all her Pokemon had returned to her, and after they had found whatever else this man required of personal possessions. She released a Gardevoir and spoke.

“Stay close, we are getting out of here.” And with that the Gardevoir would teleport them into freedom.

Elinor noted Thomas’s frown. It was understandable, admittedly she was here more as backup than a primary part.

“I may just take you up on that offer.” Elinor replied.

And so she was fine letting Thomas handle the sensitive explosives, and while doing so Elinor would watch him trying to set it up. It wasn’t much experience, but it was something.

And with the deed done Elinor followed Thomas’s lead rushing out of the camp the way they came. Making sure that they weren’t spotted on the way out. And then when the opportunity presented itself. She would watch as the explosion took the camp and its grunts.

Thomas gave her the rundown of the Ting Lu situation and honestly it sounded a bit much. Had her life not already been filled with situations that sounded equally impossible, she might have had a hard time believing it. But for now she accepted it.

“I see.” She quietly mused speaking no more of it.

“In theory.” Elinor answered as she took a peek at the explosives. “But I haven’t done it before.” Theoretical knowledge and practical knowledge were two very different things, and she knew that.

Like Durants to the fire Team Rocket grunts poured out at her, throwing their Pokemon into an unknown fray without consideration for their well being. Unfortunately Elinor didn’t have the luxury of being able to hold back. The average grunt would stand no chance against her, but numbers were sure to make up for quality.

And so in a dance of rock, steel and water did the fight continue with no regard for its surroundings. Attacks flew wide and tore up a lot of the camp. People got hurt, an inevitability in combat, and Elinor was no exception as debris flew around and tore gashes in equipment and skin alike.

Elinor managed to keep herself safe, and when she saw Ever’s signal she knew that their job was done. A powerful explosion provided cover as Elinor summoned a Gardevoir to her side, with it she TELEPORT’ed back to their meeting place safe and sound.

Kartana slid through with ease, though it felt the splattering of life-preserving-fluid on its papery body. But that didn’t stop it. It returned to Elinor eager to gaze back on its work as it swa the hand now limply lying on the ground. It tasted the blood as was custom among it people and found it lacking.

It took a moment for Elinor to register but when she saw the Rocket Scrambling to reach the gun she moved quickly trying to kick the gun away and push the wounded rocket down in the opposite direction with a force fueled by a deep seated rage.

“Tana deal with that Banette, I got this one.” Elinor called out.

Kartana was quick to accept the new objective and noted the anger in Elinor’s voice as she spoke the ghost species name. A glow of green enveloped it as the Kartana flew toward the Banette with a LEAF BLADE carrying lethal intent.

He was right. This would be dangerous. But it was their best course of action. And so with Ever’s warnings in mind she simply replied with a confident nod. But for the perceptive they might perceive a bit of seriousness to her smile. As if she had intimate knowledge on how it was to be a Rocket Prisoner.

And so they made their way to the Rocket camp in silence. Perhaps it was the seriousness of the situation that finally settled in on both of them. Elinor would leave Ever alone on one side of the camp as she snuck to an opposite side.

There she would summon two combatants. A Humongous steel serpent and a behemoth of iron much taller than her. “We are distracting them, so be as loud and as dangerous looking as you can.” She whispered to both pokemon.

And they did just that. Steelix summoned spikes of Stone in a rain of STONE EDGE that tore through the encampment's defenses, and the Aggron sent boulders sliding it a huge ROCK SLIDE alongside it.

They had Team Rocket’s attention now.

Steelix came to a grinding halt, almost sending Elinor flying in the process when the sudden distortion appeared in front of them.

Fantastic, what now? She cursed within the confines of her thoughts as she peered into the swirling mass. She regretted doing that as a sense of dread quickly reached out to her, grabbed her, held her tight.

“Let’s head back and report that.” Elinor called out to Lars, while at the same time readying her Steelix for a turn-around.

“Oh don’t worry so much! I am sure nothing will happen!” Elinor would call up to Lars.

While she knew Lars had more experience here than her, there was no way she wouldn’t try to reassure him with her confidence!

Still, for all the confidence and bravado she displayed in the field there was a worry. This was going far too easily. They had yet to find any of the Paradox-hordes that had been reported, not even a Rocket base.

This was all far too easy.

“Noted.” Elinor would do exactly as Thomas told. She stuck close, as close as she could without being a hindrance.

“Ting Lu?” The name didn’t sound familiar. Though admittedly there had been a fair bit of catching up, if he had it might be something she forgot about.

“No, I do not believe he has. What did transpire?” Elinor asked curiously, though her focus never wavered from their objective of sneaking around toward the right side of the camp.

Well, that’s unfortunate. Elinor couldn’t help but think but she kept that to herself. She would probably just get told-off by Cousin-dearest. Admittedly she had not yet heard of the big rocky-robot appearing around here.

“Yeah!” She replied in agreement as she turned her gaze toward the Steelix. “It’s not like a little rumbling is going to stop us, right Lix?” She beamed the steel serpent a smile and it rumbled in acknowledgement before it began to move forward.

Elinor knew how Ever Felt. She too could never wrap her head around how people saw Pokemon as tools rather than the living, feeling and thinking creatures they were. And so with this in mind she did not interject when the Lycanroc DECIDED it wanted to join Ever’s team. In fact, it was a welcome addition, even if it's combat abilities might not be quite reliable for this mission.

Anyway they continued onward and as they were nearing the location ever asked a rather good question.

“I have Pokemon that can create SMOG and MIST, but the sudden appearance of that might very well announce our coming just as much as simply sneaking in there would.” Elinor commented. “Hmmmm. I can create a distraction and then you can use that distraction to sneak in?” Elinor suggested.

The words had barely left her mouth before the earth began to quake as if in an active attempt to remove the evidence of the weird creature.

Elinor was quick to steady herself on her mount. Meanwhile Steelix dug parts of its long body into the ground, securing itself against the rumbling.

“Oh really! I wouldn’t have guessed!” Elinor sassed back as Lars pointed out the obvious. Though her tone would surely tell him that she meant nothing ill with it.

“Can you see WHAT is causing this from up there?” She would call out to dear Cousin in the air.
