To be perfectly honest, Mila wasn't exactly a nature girl either — which would've been ironic, considering the fact of her profession. In her defense, it was exactly the reason why she must preferred spending her days cooped up in the studio rather than traversing the uneven terrain of Route 103.

[break][break] Er, that was what she was supposed to say, right? Something like that. It had been a while since she'd attended any Ranger refresher course... maybe she ought to call up her bestie Raziel Beckett to ask him if he wanted to join a class alongside her? Either way, Mila wandered upon the scene with nothing but a pink Wooper on her shoulder. Heat caked her face as the flames licked the air in front of her. Civilians went running in the opposite direction, rightfully so!

[break][break] But she must be quite the woman if she'd garnered the attention of FERNANDO SILPH . He isn't the kind of man that would let himself dragged around just merely because a passer-by suggested it. Mila might not be good with names, but that much she can see.

[break][break] She tilts her head as she takes in his words. They're terribly vague. What a typical man. Utterly useless.

[break][break] Mila doesn't let any of this show, though. She is perfectly bubbly as she turns to him, asking if he'd want something - perhaps - more feminine. Frankly, it's all purely luck that she manages to hit the nose on the dime — but in typical Mila fashion, she pretends as if that was her intention all along.

[break][break] "Oh okay," she says, smiling brightly. "We can definitely do that! How about this —" She says, putting down the tablet and pulls a notepad closer. She puts on the table in front of him, along with a pen. "You write down a list of everything you need, and I'll see what I can pull out of our stores. Meanwhile, I'll get both of us a drink. You want juice, water, tea?"

[break][break] Once she gets his order down, though, Mila stands and flounces away, disappearing, presumably behind into the breakroom to retrieve it.

[break][break] Mila watched the other scale the cliff, idly wondering if maybe Razz did have a degree in wall-climbing. He was oddly good at it — better than a kid his age should be. It almost reminded her of the way she'd been taught how to scale walls ... she surpressed a shudder at the memory of her old Rocket past. The thought was only in passing, though, since Mila knew that it was, like, completely ridiculous. Kingsman was too much of a goody-two-shoes. No way that he was in Rocket —

[break][break] The young Ranger doesn't have time to entertain the thought, however, because there is a gust of wind that demands her attention. She shouts down at him, but he seems almost as stubborn as he was at using her last name.

There were not many who could say that they left successfully — even for the ones that had managed to slide from beneath Silas' thumb, scattering into the sewers like the rats they were, they were always connected somehow. A sliver of darkness, snaking out around an ankle; a breath of a memory.

[break][break] These days, Mila could be confidently sure that she had managed to leave it all behind — at least in the ways that mattered. Everyone she had known or cared about was either dead or declared dead — no one to follow her, no one to chase her, no one to remind her —

[break][break] Of the mistakes that she'd made.

[break][break] A twenty-year old Mila walks along the streets of RUSTBURO CITY, heels clicking against the pavement. She needs a new pair — but payment isn't due for another week, and Mama isn't too keen on giving it. She wonders if she'll be able to pry it from Jackie's pockets — 'From my cold dead hands,' he would say with a snicker, just as she manages to slip his wallet from him.

[break][break] Just as she's thinking this, a thug of a man runs out from the alleyway she'd meant to pass. Mila doesn't bother giving chase — even as an underling, her few years in Rocket have taught her this. Instead, she darts a heel out, causing the man to stumble and knock into a low-hanging lantern. It is pure luck — the man is knocked unconcious, at least temporarily, and Mila thinks about pickpocketing him when there is a shift of movement deeper in the alleway.

[break][break] She tenses. Then relaxes.

[break][break] It's a kid. Probably only a year younger than her, but a kid nonetheless. That being said, even in the low-light of the alley, Mila can tell — his beaten up face does little to hide his curved jaw and pretty lips, his beautiful bangs. A work of art.

[break][break] Mila's smile is coy as she approaches, friendly. She laughs, offering a hand to his crumpled form.

[break][break] "You look like you've had a rough night," she says.

"Mila," she said, and if that was not enough, she emphasized it further. "Mee-la," she sounded it out for him, reaching forward to flick the kid on the forehead before he had a chance to get away. Sure, they didn't know each other all that well, but they'd been through basic training together and she was fairly sure that this wasn't the first time she'd had to remind him. Or, maybe it was the first time, and Mila was being unordinary vexed.

[break][break] "Yeah, and maybe if you had half a brain, you'd realize the point of this task is teamwork." She rolled her eyes at him. "Kingsly." That was his name, right?

[break][break] As expected, however, the other didn't pay attention to a word she said and continued his descent down the cliff. Mila, however, knew better and simply leaned over the edge to watch him scale down it.

[break][break] At that moment, a ferocious gust rolled past, flaring up Mila's skirt. Not that the woman cared, hand on her hip, as she looked after her supposed "partner" down the cliff. "Watch —" Her words, however, were cut off my another blast of wind — this time, much fiercer than the last. "— out!" This time, her words were higher-pitched, a warning, pointing towards a flock of aggressive Winggull and Murkrow that flapped its way.

[break][break] Meowstic or not, one could only hope that Razz had a PHD in wall-climbing. Or at least something to ground him better than his own hands.
