[break][break] the ice numbed away most of the pain of the frost that gathered around his skin, blistering it from where the shards dug in.

what has he learned?

[break][break] he isn't sure that he's learned anything. he's barely only still beginning to control the strength of his emotions, or that he has emotions at all. he thinks about the battles that all happened on the territory of resurfaced treasure, thinks about the way his blade cut cleanly across skin and steel.

[break][break] almost as if reading his thoughts, a sword warps it's way into his hand. it's not samosek, his trusted duoblade. or noch, his aegislash. it's a rapier made of icy steel, frosted air still swirling around the tips.

[break][break] he stared unbelievably at bryan delarosa, only for a moment, before eventually deciding to shed his clothes. he could have of course gone to the medbay to clear his wounds, but he'd barely made it back to the sub alive. and he knew that there was no one else better to heal his wounds than his good friend bryan delarosa.

[break][break] the broken mask lays on the floor, peeling back layers and layers of his uniform. beneath the armor is skin that appears as if it's been rubbed raw, accompanied by jagged wounds. as if he's been cut and sliced apart by the several members of the league who he'd all engaged battle with, either willingly or not.

halfway through his mission report, the lights cut out. they blink, shuttering in the space above him, and he blinks.

[break][break] he reaches out to the beast first and after determining the fact that the other's location is nowhere near the sub's location as of present, jayden decides to go investigate the ship. he steps out of his office, pulling on his gloves, and heads towards the spot where the power outage was thought to have started.
