Lex doesn’t know why she thinks lying to him is something she’ll get away with. He knows her far too well at this point. He recognizes it even in the most subtle shift in her voice. It’s a deep sigh that indicates her immediate regret as she walks through the high stakes area. But what else is she supposed to say? The truth is she’s terrified. It’s a conflict between trauma and duty tearing at her from the inside. It’s impossible to say no to Killian, even if she resists for a moment. She’d grant whatever wish he asked for, even if it meant crawling through casino vents with a quite high possibility of having to confront her demons at the same time.

There’s a moment she hovers nearby, letting her amber gaze fall on the back of his head. Him being so close does bring a sense of comfort if shit hits the fan. After a beat, she continues towards the bathroom, finding the stall she needs when the intrusive thought creeps into her mind.

She’ll tell me if she sees him, won’t she?

Immediately, her brows furrow and her voice snaps back in his mid like the crack of a whip, “Of course I will,” she knows exactly who he is. Now particularly frustrated, her hand flicks in annoyance she closes the stall door. Her shadow flickers and disappears. A few thumps can be heard as the very few women in the bathroom were lulled to SLEEP.

Lex wastes no time shimmying into the vent and disappearing as if she was never there.

“If YOU see him you better tell me,” she’s more worried about Killian keeping that information to himself for her protection.

Lex, I love you.

She’s heard it hundreds of times, but this sounds different. Why? Despite being entranced by the vision of Goldenrod in front of her, it draws her attention to him. Her head tilts ever so slightly, gaze flicking to the side, but not far enough to reach behind her where he stood, “I love you too, Killian,” she says softly, fighting the urge to turn around. She worries. What makes him sound so different? So sure, but conflicted? The worry only seeds deeper as he continues. There’s something beneath them he’s not saying. Although there’s a rise in anxiety, the words sooth her soul. She cherishes them, knowing that there’s truth.

He completes her. There was nothing but loss and emptiness when he was gone. It still hurts to know she’s the root of his misery. Yet despite everything she’s put him through, he still loves her. It’s mind-boggling. She can’t imagine why.

“Killian, I am yours, for-” and he steals the words right out of her mouth. It makes her smile, but did he doubt it? Was this some sort of weird intervention?

Lex turns when prompted but stops about halfway. There’s clear shock on her face when she sees Killian on one knee. It doesn’t take much brain power to deduce what is happening. She’s paralyzed by the storm of questions and emotions that rises in her mind.

Her? She’s the one he wants? There shouldn’t be doubt, but after everything she’s put him through she hesitates. Is she in his best interest? The list of her sins against him is too long: she left him, got him thrown in jail, made him chase her to Hoenn, got him involved in Rocket, plagued with nightmares in the pursuit of power for her protection. His life would be much easier without her.

Regardless of her doubts, she’s selfish. She needs him. He’s everything to her, her whole world. There’s nothing she wouldn’t do for him. Like he said, she loves him completely and with everything she is. Life without him isn’t worth living, she learned that the hard way.

Now, in front of her, is a scene she never dreamed she’d live to see. There’s no time to waste, their lives are too precious. There’s only one answer and has always been only one. Lex nods as tears stream down her cheeks, “Yes, of course, forever Killian.”

Only one this time, the other saved by the selfless Locke Jamison. Lex scoffs, she learned not that long ago that being selfless didn’t help you, it only hurt you in the end. Still, despite Bill Anderson’s suspicion, she has the back of her fellow rockets. Amber eyes roll rather dramatically at his tease, ”Please, Bill, you’d have to catch me first, old man,“ the tease (or is it?) ends with a wink which doesn’t make her look any less suspicious as his name and image appear in the “spotlight”.

“Uhhh well, nice knowin y’all” Lex chugs her SODA POP before fleeing the group into the bowel of the hotel. Reluctantly, she enters the vents, her stomach tightening with the memories of Genesect’s attack on the submarine. Fuck, why’d she do this again?

Eventually, she comes upon a hoard of monsters along with a few of her fellow contestants. John Sullivan, Hideo Kino, and DEREK HOFFMAN are already in the thick of it. Better them than her. She casts a hand towards the scene in front of her, “Paralyze em,” she care mostly about the monsters, but she cares little if the others are affected by the attack.

Thorn shakes her petals, letting a fine powder drift through the room, it’s sticky nature clinging to whatever it can find, sinking into skin and scales to paralyze while she blazes a path forward with Thorn. The Roserade takes it upon herself to use SYNTHESIS in an attempt to withstand any attack meant for them. The thief has eyes for anything shiny, seeking a treasure the monster hoards.

The maid? Lex smiles, shaking her head subtly. That must be nice. Her gaze glances between them as they move back towards the club. As the music grows, louder, so do their voice, “Once a month?” there’s still a hint of disgust in her tone. That seemed rather infrequent for a pokemon that constantly wore them. Guess it’s better than nothing. Hopefully it didn’t smell. Could ghosts smell? The idle thought has her gaze drifting towards the Shadow Gadevoir that disappears around a corner with her boxes in tow held by PSYCHIC.

It’s hard to miss the surprised look on her face with Remy’s praise, “A name for myself?” she repeats. There’s nothing really of note she’s done well. She’s certainly fucked up plenty of times. Perhaps it’s not a good name, “Hm, well, I work mostly with Killian Decker,” it’s more than just because of their relationship. Her skills are limited and intel is really the only department that could make use of them, “And what is it that you do?” she asks curiously. She’s aware he’s an admin, but what he actually does has always remained a mystery.

Unfortunately, no. They’re not high. That probably would have helped make all of this a bit more comfortable. Her lips purse at the thought, reluctantly letting Killian’s hand slip out of hers so he can get closer to Lulu.

Lex watches with curiosity. It would actually make quite a bit of sense. She seems calm . . . almost too calm. Were these baths really that powerul?

Smoke spins in delight at the result of her MEAN LOOK at the unsuspecting caretaker. His shriek was like music to his ears and the Gastly was the beautiful maestro conducting it all. He wheezes and admirable gaassstly reappears, but is cut short the advance of the daycare’s administrator – pokeballs in hand.

Not today satan.

He hisses, blocking the path between the female and the facility’s manager. He raises the pokeballs to suck them back in, but Smoke stops him in his tracks by firing a CONFUSE RAY. The sparkling lights twinkle and dance towards him with enough of an effect to make him miss. Can’t catch them when you see several of them.

Smoke turns to her and smiles, time to run away.

Lex sighs, relaxing, settling into accepting Lulu’s presence here. She doesn’t seem pissed off, at least not yet, despite Killian’s poking and prodding. She wouldn’t dare lash out, not here, in public, with Killian beside her . . . right?

With a grunt of possible annoyance, she leans back, keeping her fingers tangled with Killian’s, “You’re both making it weird,” she states matter-of-factly, a half-lidded gaze fixed on Lulu. Is she high?

Lex smiles wide, the widest she’s smiled in a long time. Home.

She almost breaks her promise and opens her eyes, almost. Her body shudders beneath his grip, anxious to do so and lay eyes on the place she thought she’d never be able to return to. It’s where it all started, where they started.

“Killian –“ she begins but is interrupted by the touch of his lips on the nape of her neck. It sends a shiver down her spine and makes the words catch in her throat. Lex nods, “I promise,” she confirms.

Her eyes peel open slowly, to catch the breathtaking view of Goldenrod’s skyline bathed in the warm glow of the sunset. Even if she wanted to turn around, she doesn’t think she could. She’s captivated by a sight long dreamed of but never made reality. Her emotions manifest as a glossy sheen over amber eyes, one more blink as a lone tear slowly crawls down her cheek.

Peachy, a sour, rotten peach most likely. Lex keeps her nasty mood to herself, withdrawing to let their banter continue. It’s almost . . . too playful. As if they are . . . friends?

Something about it irked her. Perhaps it’s just her newly acquired sour mood. Even obvious sarcasm takes a bite out of Lex’s patience. She glances sharply at Killian, unamused at the thought of him entertaining the idea of wanting to see Lulu naked. But since there’s incriminating evidence etched into her skin . . . Lex finds herself curious too. Ambers move back towards Lulu, inspecting what is visible of the tattoos staining her pale skin.

The kiss ends with a familiar feeling of being torn through space as TELEPORT lands them on the back of a Laparas. The uneven footing is surprising and without opening her eyes, she gasps, both arms looking to grip him tighter until she steadies herself.

What the actual fuck?

Salty air fills her nostrils when she takes a deep breath. It only adds to the confusion. Killian hates the salt air. Where on earth are they and why? Her brows furrow, frustration tugging at her impatience to open her eyes. Still, she keeps them closed.

He shifts and moves. She’s reluctant to let him go but he wiggles his way free, moving behind her and comforting her again with a tight grip around her waist. Her hands trace his arms, hands settling over his. It’s hard to miss the rhythmic thrum of his heart beating wildly against her. Curious.

“How am I supposed to guess that?” she asks before even trying. It’s silence that shifts her attention to her surrounds. Salty air, the soft caw of Wingul . . . was that a magnet train? It couldn’t be.

Realization creeps in all too slowly. It’s not a place she dreamed she’d be able to return to, so therefore it was never on her radar. A smile slowly creeps across her cherry lips in disbelief. Could she really trust her senses? Was she getting her hopes up? Her lips part to speak but the words choke in her throat, overwhelmed by emotion, “Killian . . . are we home?” her grip on his tightens in anticipation of disappointment or great joy.

“Hmmmm,” she hums curiously reaching out to take his hand as she stands up, “Are you sure it isn’t our anniversary or something?” She’s oblivious. He’s done a great job deceiving her which is difficulty.

Lex does more than just take his hand. She steps closer to him, sliding an arm around his waist to hug him gently. She faces him, smiling up into his shinning pool of aqua, “Alright,” she agree, cutting off her gaze with the slow lowering of her lids. Patiently, she waits as instructed, eyes closed and tucked against him.

Aggressive? Understatement of the century. Lex almost laughs under the comfort of her lover’s protection. It’s stifled into a small smirk and quick exhale.

She settles close to Killian, finding the comfort she needs in the squeeze of his grip and fingers laced between hers. Though strength is what she seeks to build now-a-days, confidence is what she sorely lacks. It manifests as the fewest words she can muster, easily mistaken for indifference, “I’m fine, Flint. You?”

The subtle fear in her voice mirrors the worry in his. It makes both of their feelings obvious to the other. Her lips seal tight at the thought. The last thing she wants to bring him is worry. He has plenty of that in his job already. Her struggle is her burden. Unfortunately, bound by love, it meant he shares the burden – just like she shares his.

Suddenly, she’s not hungry anymore and the half-finished plate is pushed gently aside so she can grab her wine. The action of sipping and savoring it is a welcome distraction from the thought that were forcibly pulled to the front of her mind.

Of course, it’s Killian that pulls her out of the depths. A glance at her plate is followed by a nod, “Yes,” she confirms, setting the wine down. There’s a curious, almost playful, shine behind her narrowed gaze, “You didn’t buy another house, did you?” she teases, recalling the last time they did something like that it ended with a trip to this very home.
