A bit of odd chances but Noelani found himself working again alongside Doug again. Now that he thought about it, he been meeting the kid quite a lot recently though the bandages were a new thing for sure. For now, though he decided against commenting on that and instead focused on their current task. Another day of adding to the portfolio of Odd Job Workers.

Snorting in agreement the alolan added “Tell me about it. But hey it could have been worse like a wandering Tyranitar or something.” a small shudder at the memory did accompany that.

Observing the lazy pokemon Noelani took out a pokeball of his own and released Kala with the Bellossom quickly settling in a chirpy twirl and giving out a wave to Doug. Directing his attention towards the other trainer Noelani was quick to ask “So how do you want to do this? Kala here could try luring him with Sweet Scent but well” pausing he gestured towards the Slaking as if that explained everything before counting “…. you know. Though there is another method we could try if you have a reliable way to put him to sleep.”

Recently a few faces had finally managed to catch up to Noelani. Which meant that not only had things been wrapped up but the alolan also had access back to some old partners of his.

Seeing the signal Noelani followed after Skyler soon joining her above water. Following her example, he removed his googles and rebreather and took a breath. Air pockets weren’t an unusual thing but the air didn’t taste and smell stale enough so that probably meant it still flowed in from somewhere and circulated.

Giving a whistle which echoed he was quick to comment “Pretty specious huh?” It was dark but thankfully he could still spot out a rock outcropping. He swam towards it allowing him to see it stretched into some actual dry land. Feeling adventurous Noelani reached for the rocks and pulled himself out of the water. Getting on his feet he finally reached for the flashlight he had borrowed and turned it on, illuminating the area in front of him… and right into the eyes of a Aggron.

Widening his own eyes Noelani quickly released Aloha directing the Bewear to meet the charge of the steel type. Augmenting himself with Strength Aloha slammed into Aggron who had been charging with Iron Head. It tired to use the attack again but the Bewear wasn’t idle and followed up with Hammer Arm. Not wasting time Aloha wrapped the wild pokemon in a hug using Wrap though he went even further then by activating Superpower and tightening his hold even more.

That finally proved to be too much and the Aggron succumbing into unconsciousness not soon after. Throwing a pokeball to capture it Noelani also wiped away the sweat from his forehead. They had been lucky the Aggron hadn’t decided to use any Rocks or Ground type moves or else they would have been buried here.

Free to look around the alolan noticed something glint as his flashlight passed over the walls of the chamber. Curious he approached and picked up the object. It was a bit rusted but this was clearly a piece of metal. Rubbing his thumb over it to clear some of the dirt he noticed something engraved in it. The piece was too small so the engraving was just a line and that didn’t reveal anything to him.

Finally turning back towards Skyler, he would catch her attention “Hey Look at this.” before throwing the piece of metal towards her direction knowing she would be able to catch it. Everything else in the chamber looked normal enough to him besides the clear path and hole that probably lead into another chamber.

“Hmmm we going to go back into the water and try to follow the path a bit more or are we going to see what lies through here?” Noelani asked while gesturing towards the entrance hole that suspiciously looked Aggron shaped.

Noelani was correct to assume there would someone else for the job as he observed the new arrival. Extending his hand for the handshake the alolan snorted in amusement “That’s would be me. It seems the company at least informed you that you would be working with someone though as I was left with guessing.”

Shaking his head Noelani turned back towards the office building with lips twitching in a grin “I’m indeed ready though.” with that he would head in assuming the other trainer would follow after him.

As they entered the building proper the alolan looked around though it seemed like a pretty normal office building so far. As they moved, he would ask his companion “So any preferences on where we should start. The guys that called me said the third floor was where the majority of the bugs were causing trouble. Which would have been fine if he didn’t follow up with that fact that they’ve had appearances throughout the whole building afterwards.”

“I doubt the origin is there but at very least we could go there and see if we can get any clues where they are coming from or at very least guess what we are dealing with as they didn’t know. Unless you do know and they just forgot to mention it to me again?”

Seeing the man approaching him Noelani simply rose an eyebrow and observed him. Catching the camera held in hand it was easy for the alolan to connect the dots that he might be dealing with some reporter. It could also be some random guy just filming something but the chances leaned towards his initial thoughts. Which was confirmed when the guy introduced himself and where he worked.

Not wanting to be rude of course Noelani responded “Noelani Kekoa and yeah the family of the missing athlete hired me to help look.” shrugging his shoulder at that he would then continue “So you searching as well or just reporting the case?”

He wasn’t idle as he waited for answers and moved around the area they were in, hoping to spot something of note. Though it was probably a fool’s bet considering that people did still pass through here a lot so chances to spot tracks left by the missing man were low. Knowing what he did about the case Noelani gravitated towards an uneven path going through some tall grass. If he was right this should lead towards one of the more popular biking trails which could be a good place to look further.

Turning towards the reporter Noelani would ask “Want to tag along or are you going to explore around here?”

Swimming behind the blonde captain Noelani could at very least say that so far there was no dead end meaning that the entrance was an entrance after all. Well actually it turned out to have been a small hole in the wall of the underwater cave they were now into but it was also an entrance after the ship’s anchor had widen it. His thoughts were straying a bit but that was probably because so far nothing had popped out and while interesting besides long tunnels the cave wasn’t providing anything.

It was still early on in their exploring and Noelani could admit he wasn’t that experienced in underwater spelunking so maybe he was missing clues to things that Skyler wouldn’t. The best he could guess at hints to something were the odd debris he found laying on the floor of the cave. At least Octy was having fun if nothing else after all it was probably the first time since he caught her that she got to enjoy the open ocean.

An odd stone slab did briefly catch his attention but after swimming to it and inspecting he found nothing else that he could identify. Sure, it was odd to see something like that in a cave but well sometimes the weirdest things drifted or ended up on the bottom of the ocean. Noting it down in his mind he returned to following after Skyler.

Shaking the hand of the worried man Noelani finally was able to leave the house. The reason for this visit was of course job related. When the obviously worried family had reached out to everyone available due to their son going missing somehow he had been the one to respond first or at least meet them so far. He didn’t like the reasonability of a life weighting on his shoulders but well a job was a job once accepted. Hopefully the man he was to search for was still alive rather than dead.

Getting on his Corviknight he took off towards route 119 seeing as that was where the missing man went for his last trip. Reaching the route Noelani directed Haku to land in a good enough clearing. A known trail was not far from here so after a crack of his neck and a sigh the alolan began his trek. Once he was there, he would take a look around and see if there was anything to give him a clue and if not well then that would mean exploring said trail and its surroundings. Though it seemed he wasn’t the only one that had decided to explore this area and search for clues.

Noelani was starting think that maybe he should look for other hires for Odd Job Workers. The requests weren’t too many yet but seeing as all the current employees were him, him and him it was getting at a point that his schedule was starting to look a bit too busy for his tastes. He could post a few adds and the alolan did know a few that would agree for cheap to work freeing him up for more interesting ones to take for himself instead ones like the current one he was doing.

Speaking of the job it was to clear out an infestation that was plaguing this office building and boy was it going to be a chore seeing at how large the building was. Weirdly enough no one could pin point where it was originating from that or they were lazy and didn’t want to search. Probably why they had offloaded the job to the league and reached out to Odd Job Workers not even a day later. Yeah, he had checked up on things and this just screamed of black company trying to skirt corners.

Still before he could go in Noelani decided to wait by the entrance to see if anyone either from the league or another non affiliated person had been contacted. He was sure they wouldn’t mind joining forces or the very least he would be able to try and convince them.

Clenching a fist Noelani disliked the approach he was taking but he also knew his pokemon well enough to know they would object should he falter once he had chosen a path. Gritting his teeth as he watched the Aegislash collide with Wikolia he was glad to see that at least the Vulpix’s attack landed effectively. Lips twitching between a smirk and a grimace the alolan allowed the rising adrenalin to do its works as his focus sharpened and he gave out an order “Fire Blast.”

Facing the oncoming Head Smash with a glint of challenge in her eyes the Vulpix released a Fire Blast in an attempt to bath both her and the Aegislash in an intense blast of all-consuming fire. Either the attack would interrupt the impact or lessen it and if not but it still managed to hit at the very least would cause damage to the ghost type.

Makani wasn’t idle as well though and while the Dragapult knew there was nothing to do while the Golurk disappeared in a Phantom Force he could try to aid his partner in the fight before the hit from the ground type came. With that in mind ghostly energy surged once more around Makani before directing it towards the Aegislash in another try to land Hex on it.

It seemed the other man hadn’t found anything interesting as well besides another pokemon which not that surprising to find seeing as the place was teeming with them. Noelani didn’t mind not having to split off and if the door they chose proved nothing of value then they could just backtrack and check the other one or well finally go and explore the floors above and the abandoned building proper.

“Right door it is.” would be all the alolan would say before moving and opening said door. Revealing a room that was way larger, enough that it had room to host several tables. Even if it was trashed it was still obvious enough that this was a gambling den which would explain why there was a safe room not even a door away or why the hotel might be closed.

What was obviously more eye catching were the two pokemon that were finishing a fight. An Arbok and a Swalot probably duking it out for the space. That at least explained the smell as Swalot were known to release toxic fluids though that hadn’t helped it much against the snake. Said snake had switched its attention on them and was currently expressing its displeasure at being interrupted by hissing at them.

Before it could rear up for an attack though Aloha was already upon it hitting it with Brutal Swing to daze it. Hitting it a few more times while alternating between Brutal Swing and Hammer Arm his Bewear quickly knocked out the Arbok. Considering it for a moment Noelani then threw a poke ball at the downed snake in an attempt to catch it.

After that he would look around the room before turning to Skids “Well we could look around here and after that we can go upstairs and see what the rooms and rest of the hotel have to offer as I doubted there is a lot of interesting things left lying around here.”
