Noelani was back at meteor falls but this time it wasn’t for a request instead he had decided to properly explore it. Well, it was because he had seen a path near one of the waterfalls and he hadn’t had the time last time to check out where it led. The curiosity if it passed under the waterfall was strong and that had proven to be enough motivation for him.

It helped that he was bored but also didn’t feel like traversing too large of a distance so the alolan had settled for a middle ground. His attention was pulled to Scully when a psychic field enveloped him and made him jerk in place. Looking towards the Espeon he had no explanation for why besides a simple nod towards another path.

It seemed he had chosen the wrong one though there were other ways she could have reminded him. Not that he would reprimand her as it was simply one of her quirks then anything malicious aimed at him. Despite their start Scully and him did get along fairly well and she was far from his most troublesome pokemon as well.

Not wanting to get distracted from stray thoughts though Noelani shook his head before refocusing on watching where he was going as he didn’t want to fall into the water.

Noelani could say she had style and was dressed more appropriately than him seeing as he had overdressed. Of course, he had also checked her out but being an old hand and expert at subtle glances the alolan had done so upon entering the room and expertly masking it as just looking around and assessing things.

There was a certain image to be presented so something had to be cut out and adjusted to shape how he appeared in the eyes of others something he had learned along the way in his carrier on the other side of the law. At least this meeting didn’t have a chance to end up with him being shot at…. hopefully.

After an internal chuckle at that Noelani returned his full attention back at Serena his lisp twitched up in a small mischievous smirk before replying “And you look exactly as you did in the photos in fact I would say even better.” having given snap judgment the alolan decided the joking approach meshing with compliments might flow well here which was good as he preferred being as true to himself as he could be.

Chuckling briefly, he would add on with a wink “Just water is fine. Though maybe have one of your aids bring it because I swear, they might get a heart attack otherwise.”

Looking back at the table briefly Noelani would then move to take his seat unless he was held up more. Making himself comfortable he resisted the initial urge to prop his chin on his hand as that should be saved for more impactful moment rather then the introduction phase. Part of him did also realize he might be analyzing and processing things from a too serious angle so maybe he should try to shift gears a bit. Habits were always hard to kick though.

“I know we hit off fairly well after reaching out but I am curious though why me? Even with my limited connections I know some other options that probably would have bit. Was it a strategic thing or simply luck of the draw?” was the question the alolan directed towards Serena. It wasn’t that important in the grand scheme of things but as he said he was curious about it so why not check off that question from the list. After that they could dig into the meeting in true.

Humming Noelani replied “Beside my Corviknight I don’t have any other flyer that could intimidate them well enough. The rest of the pokemon I have on me are strong but they don’t look fearsome to inspire grand impressions unless we set it up. If it comes to it, I can still release them though.”

After they settled in and Skids released his Salamence Noelani simply took in the dragon. Maybe it was better that Makani wasn’t with him. Knowing the Dragapult he would have wanted to challenge the other dragon type to a fight and while he would have still listened and followed the plan Noelani didn’t doubt Makani wouldn’t stop pestering him afterwards about it.

Once ready Oya would catch up the Salamence on what they were doing if it was ready would then start leading it towards the pack. Nodding after the moving pokemon Noelani would just say “Let’s follow them. My Corviknight should be around by now so if things get dicey, I can give it a signal to swoop in as well.”

If the Salamence followed Oya they would eventually stumble on a clearing housing a number of the Mightyena. It didn’t matter if they could recognize who was the alpha after all their job was to scare them away and issue a challenge the leader would come out on his own.

It seemed that challenging the alpha was a valid strategy then. Something that reassured Noelani a bit as he would rather not use others as bait. Not because he wasn’t above it but just in this particular case it didn’t appeal to him and his mindset of why suggest things you wouldn’t do yourself.

Listening to the older man’s suggestion the alolan simply nodded along, liking the idea that was getting outlined. Clicking his tongue in displeasure Noelani added “That’s not a bad idea. I wish I had Makani on me though. Maybe not the most intimidating dragon but Dragapult have a presence of their own as well.”

Scaring them away might work especially with a dragon type. The more he thought on it the more he liked the plan so he added on his full agreement “Yeah, Yeah. Let’s do it then.”

After saying that he would signal his Talonflame so it could lead them towards where the pack was. It would take only around twenty minutes for them to finally hit a good enough distance from their targets. Knowing how strong the sense of smell could be for some pokemon Noelani had made sure to make the stopping point just far away that the Mightyena wouldn’t immediately notice them hopefully.

Turning towards Skids the alolan would speak up “Okay we are still just a bit too far but I figured it’s better to set up now and give us a smidge more time if they notice us. We can close the distance more but better if you let out your partner and Oya would tell it the location while she will remain with us to guide us.”

Noelani simply shrugged his shoulders and slightly smirked playing it smart was usually advised even if sometimes he took risks even knowing that. His interest was piqued when she offered to help him get the Ursaring after all he hadn’t exactly expected it. Though that did further confirm that she wasn’t just a simple pickpocket and more like him.

Humming his expression twisted to a thoughtful one as he answered “I still need to pinpoint its location but I wouldn’t mind a helping hand sure. It could be fun.”

After that he just nodded as Lex left to get the promised beers his gaze following her as she disappeared into the crowd. Not too long after that a young man carrying two beers approached the table. Noelani’s eyes widened before a snort escaped as realization set in.

Taking the beers, he waited till the man was gone before taking a sip of his drink. As he did, he looked down at the number he had been given and then pocketed it. Shaking his head once more he chuckled slightly due to being amused rather then angry at what the redhead had pulled. Taking a few minuets to finish his drink he too would get up and get lost in the crowd after all his entertainment had left so might as well go and see what the rest of the night would bring.

Before Noelani could surface after his task had been done, he had been treated to the sight of a clearly uncomfortable Stonjourner walking on the seafloor trying to make its way to presumably dry land. The alolan had no idea how it had come all this way or why it was underwater but well he figured he couldn’t simply leave it alone.

Approaching it he had tried to communicate with it but it had been hard. After it showed no results and he resigned himself to that and having to battle it. That’s when he had set Octy on the wild pokemon and the water type clearly at home in the ocean had taken quick care of it with numerous bombardments of Octazooka while darting around the rock type. Throwing a pokeball at it Noelani then returned to going back to the surface and telling the captain about what he had seen.

The moment he shared the bit with the entrance he caught Skyler’s attention and seeing the gleam she gained in her eyes meant that Noelani was right to mention it. That and also in turn interest him as well. So, it was only natural his own response was a grin “Of course not. Let’s see what we’ve stumbled on eh?”

With that settled as soon as the blond entered and dived back into the depths Noelani followed right behind her hoping that what he had found wasn’t just a dead end after all it would be disappointing if that was the case and not nearly as fun.
