[attr="class","inner-finally"]A being of emotions knows just how the heart aches, where emotions have seeped through the cracks and overwhelmed its bearer. But in this moment, it hardly feels like the right time to put all those sweeping feelings into a box. Would Eris thank them for tampering with her emotions, or would she come to reject that sensation like most did?[break][break]

Much like Uxie, their eyes flit upwards, looking to Reshiram as the source of her despair. They tense, growl at the dragon but it's already taken off, leaving only a strange rock in its wake. There is a thought to chase, one that they so wish to act upon as they hurl rock after rock at Reshiram. And yet, there would be no point in doing so. At some point, the simulation must end and all of this would be nothing but a scenario that would repeat again and again.[break][break]

Surely, Eris knows this too. She tries her best to get it out of her system, to stifle her tears and attempt to process it all logically.[break][break]

But she is a fool that will fall for it time and time again. Taking a deep breath, the girl eventually finds a break in the flood, gently pushes away from Hideo to take the stone. And she'll wordlessly back to her feet, cradling it close to her chest as she sways towards the exit.

With a thunderous roar arrives one of the more insane legends she's encountered thus far. This time, it isn't a weird horse but it sure does seem as crazed as it'd been back then, if not more.[break][break]

And this time, there will be no deus ex machina. No blinding mark nor mischievous pixie that will arrive to bail her out. Perhaps, because they know that whatever happens in this simulation has never once translated to proper injuries in the real world. Perhaps, because they're busy observing the pretty fireworks display created by the nearby volcano.[break][break]

"Its diamond should be blue..." Not dark as a bleeding sun. Her eyes flit to Andrea and her Hydreigon that have somehow come out unscathed. "Do you know what that means?"[break][break]

Reiner doesn't wait for it to target them, coaxing fiery blossoms free of the time lock as a Springtide Storm begins to brew. And like a dust cloud, it serves to obscure, to throw off Dialga's aim before it launches yet another ridiculous move.[break][break]

"Think we can we beat it?"[break][break]

It's funny how this region has conditioned her to forget retreat. And yet, part of her boldness stems from the seeds of curiosity that have been nurtured with long lost tales. It's an age of legends they live in, and it is a legendary explorer's duty - her sacred, precious duty - to record as much of it as they possibly can.

When he beckons for her to follow along, she hesitates for just that moment. She's by no means equipped like he is, but perhaps she can make so with a mishmash of ideas. As her fingers trace over her belt, her coat shimmers that tiny bit that one might even mistakenly attribute it to the reflection of sunlight off stray water droplets. Careful steps turn into sweeping waddles, the rhythm of a pair of footsteps quickly growing in number.[break][break]

On her left, a little Wooper chirps, bopping his head along with the sway of the waves. On her right, an Araquanid begins to blow a water bubble for her. And as they finally reach the point where the water laps at their chest, Eris takes ahold of her pokemon and follows Tavish's lead in the dive.

She shuts her eyes and clings tighter to her only hope.[break][break]

And she wishes that she could simply slip into the darkness, to avoid that piercing gaze upon her back. The scrape of metal against ground alert her to an intruder, one that she must pay attention to lest that gaze turn to fangs. A sliver of vision is all she dares, a blurry pile of purple soon solidifying into familiar shapes - Mochi. Poison.[break][break]

Not a single fibre of her being wills resistance. Shivers rake upon her limbs that reach out, a chilling heat that peels at old scars. There lies a thought in the back of her mind, that the mochi be chewed and spat up. But it goes down so smoothly, bite after bite after bite.[break][break]

A brief moment of respite from the pervading scent of rust. Softly, quietly, the thought is smothered and laid to rest.[break][break]

She doesn't dare to step out until Isaac does the same. Like a guard, like their warden, she watches him eat that mochi and waits for the chains to do their work. Anything that would ensure he survives, that he stays here with her. A hand reaches out for his, tugs at it as she looks towards the center of their ward.[break][break]

Work calls to them. He can't leave her alone in a place like this.[break][break]

Surprisingly enough, their job seems pretty simple. Though the sharp edges are surely a concern, much like holding the sharp end of a knife, one can avoid cuts if they know how to handle it. The surfaces on which fingers may be placed, the pressure necessary to grip but not pierce skin. She sorts carefully, with utmost diligence, acutely aware of the gazes that sweep over her as she continues to work through her pile.[break][break]

Soon enough, she creates just enough of a stash to carry over to the crate. Navigating through the piles of tera crystals and dirt with these sandals feel rather awkward, but she manages to get by with minimum scratches on her feet. Just a few more steps and she'll reach the crate. And yet, the next step she takes catches on something.[break][break]

She trips, crystals scattering back into the dirt as she falls and slides across the mix. Rocky edges poke and slice at exposed limbs, snickers coming from somewhere behind her over her quiet whimpers. And yet, she must pick herself up. Quickly, before she's hauled up by a Megalopolan.[break][break]

And once she does so, it's back to sorting again, each shining surface turning redder with her touch.[break][break]

A lack of Carbink in this area means that the kingdom would've been left all alone, forever waiting for a princess that would never come back. But if she has no royal duties, this place must feel like a ki- no, a home to her.[break][break]

Another clearing of the throat, a question inserted serves as something that trips her right up. And she stops, looking towards Navy as she tries to process what he's asked.[break][break]

"Mmm... Carbink are made from high temperatures and pressure underground. As are most diamonds... as far as I remember, most of their colours come from other stuff mixed in. Pink diamonds, on the other hand, are made when the diamond's built a little differently." Spinning her pencil, she stops it tip downwards every few rotations. "It's just a guess but maybe some kinda change in Diancie's body just let her change from a Carbink to... well, Diancie. And it's not a change that you can force, like evolution."

"Hmm... Well, this might seem rude but were you really carved of precious stone?" Most legends have an origin. The Lake Trio, Palkia and Dialga seem to stem from the Original One. Whereas mythical pokemon like Magearna and Volcanion seem to have been created in some fashion. [break][break]

Diancie's answer begins promptly, but is equally quick to die off when she realises that her voice is lost upon a language barrier. And she pauses for a moment, frowning as she tries her very best to gesture something.[break][break]

"Diamond?"[break][break]

Her head shakes.[break][break]

"So you weren't carved?"[break][break]

A nod, as she continues to repeat tracing the air.[break][break]

"Not a diamond... something that looks diamond-shaped?" Nod. "A pokemon?" Nod again, this time a little more lively as Diancie cheers. "Hmm... A Carbink? You're both jewel pokemon... are you two somehow related? Like an ultra super rare evolution?"[break][break]

A nod that slowly turns to a confused squint.[break][break]

"Huh, not that? I guess there'd be more Diancies running about if we figured out the evolution conditions." Backtrack, think it through again. "Then... a variant? Like a mutation of sorts?"[break][break]

A squeal and gleeful clapping almost reminds her of just how Mesprit would act when she figured something out. Out comes her notebook, flipped to a specifically tagged page, her pen tip softly scratching the surface with this brand new information.[break][break]

"Well... momma once told me that Carbink are created deep beneath the earth and that there could be a kingdom of jewels from which new Carbinks are formed. Do you have a kingdom like that, Diancie?"

From the cart, the liquid metal quietly gurgles and Reiner snorts, earning a curious look from the girl. Perhaps, they're simply talking about how the eggs are tiny compared to it, or thankfully quiet compared to newly hatched pokemon. Before she can pry any further, Reiner steps closer to her, pulling her onto his back without the slightest warning.[break][break]

She squeaks, flailing a bit before she gets into a comfortable sitting position and pouts. Though she knows part of it must've been him getting worried she'd trip, the rest of it must have been just so that they can pick up the pace.[break][break]

"So how'd you end up delivering eggs mister? You don't look like a courier to me."

Crystablooms, conduits of infinity energy, corrupted by poison? Does the sickness not only affect people and pokemon, but rather, infinity energy itself? The thought scratches at the back of her head, makes her fingers prickle with cold sweat.[break][break]

She wants to know. But poisons are not her specialty.[break][break]

A whistle, sunlight glints amongst shadows as cold steel slices through the poison. And with pinpoint precision, they carve a crystabloom from the ground, tossing it towards Eris with a well-aimed flick. Outstretched hands try their best, but it takes a slap on the back for her to take the step necessary to reach it.[break][break]

As always, Reiner has her back. And after she finishes stumbling to regain her balance, she begins pulling off her jacket and wraps the flower. It's a rather bad choice, considering how much of marred skin and scars she winds up showing, but she really hadn't been expecting to do such things today.[break][break]

The excitement fades as quickly as it begins. A slight step back, and yet another awkward step back as she tries to bury her arms under the folds of her jacket.[break][break]

"I- I'm... Eris."

"I'm glad." Those words are as genuine as her smile. To see these beings of fairytales and myths happy to be where they are, to know that they aren't shackled by the expectations of humans and forced to act under imposed obligations. Just knowing that they are treated well like they should be brings a sense of comfort.[break][break]

"You know, Navy. It might be wrong, but I don't think it's a League or Rocket thing. I think not forcing people to fight should just be the norm."

But she supposes people can really get lost in the anxiety sauce, especially when it comes to things much more fragile than they are. And gosh, the people of this region are unbelievably hardy.[break][break]

"We could always levitate the cart a little so it won't go over too many bumps." She gets the hint, the silent plea in his question. Even if she abandons him with well wishes, it'd be considered pretty unkind of her to ignore those in need. "Or... hold on, I've got an idea."[break][break]

From her pocket, comes a strange cube. One that she'll cradle up to the cart and gently place amongst the many eggs. As she does so, it begins to melt, expand. The liquid begins to spread all over the cart, smooth trails slinking up the wheels or gently filling the gaps between the cargo.[break][break]

"Soft like water, Mercury." Utterly unfazed by the gradual transformation, Eris reaches a finger out and gently pokes at the shiny surface. A small dent is left in her finger's wake, but slowly fills back in like a sponge. "Mmm, that should do it... Don't let the eggs crash into one another, yeah?"[break][break]

Like a shimmering pond, the surface begins to ripple once more, this time to form something vaguely shaped like a... thumbs up?[break][break]

"Counting on you buddy!"

But sometimes, there just is a need to run away from everything that feels so out of touch with her. The many eyes that focus on her without ever knowing her name. The many questioning or pitiful looks that will never attempt to know who she is.[break][break]

Because at the end of the day, she is an orphan. She is a Rocket defector. She is a troublemaker through and through, even though most of those poor League officials tasked to watch after her are oblivious to the true troublesome legend she harbours.[break][break]

One that sits atop the Luxray's head as they brazenly wolf down Yeggo waffle after Yeggo waffle. howard slayte had really created quite the problem for her to deal with without even intending for it to happen. Ah, but it probably doesn't compare to what he spends on Doug's precious diet.[break][break]

"Watch the crumbs or Reiner will shake you off with them."[break][break]

The Ralts scoffs at the warning, crumbs spraying without a single care for those nearby. Is there really any surprise when they're promptly tossed off by a rather disgruntled Luxray?
