Hands trembling, Ezra pressed his lower back against the white picket fencing that ran along the road of route 103. He took a deep breath, held it for a second too long, then released it shakily. No amount of fresh spring air could quench his anxiety today. “I wonder when she’ll get here,” he mumbled to himself, though, the answer didn’t really matter. It was well known fact that he would wait however long it would take to see her. At least for today. She was a close friend, after all, and today would mark their first real life meeting. It was all so crazy to him - who would’ve thought they would stay in contact for this long? And for their first meeting to be a tour of Hoenn? Well, Ezra was reasonably escatic. Today was turning out to be a combo deal of fun.

The man’s head was angled up towards sky, allowing his anxiety-filled eyes to quickly dart from one side to another, searching for even the slightest sign of her arrival. First meetings always brought this side out of him. A lot of derived out of his fear of disappointment. Nothing feels worse than not meeting someone else’s standards. Still, at the end of the day, all that was left to do was await for her arrival. .

Upon catching the cloyster, Ezra turned back to his duo and sighed, "I guess you can call me that." Inwardly, he was dissatisfied with his way of spewing out words in a jumbled mess so others couldn't understand him. It was a cowardly way to avoid answering questions. His eyes glanced over at the posing Meowstic . Even though the trainer sounded half-serious with his request, Ezra thought it would've been too cute of a moment to miss. "Anyone as cute as him deserves to be a narcissist," He lightly chuckled with a small head shake. He then fished his hand into his pocket to retrieve his disposable waterproof camera.

The reporter (now photographer?) took a moment to situate himself near the rock the Meowstic was perched on top of. Kneeling down, Ezra took a few photos from a handful of different angles. He really gave this pokemon the model treatment. While doing so, two wild ice types seemed to have waddled over, drawn by their curiosity of the flashing white light. "So, what are you doing around here, stranger?" He inquired casually, slipping the question in between one of his shots.

After finishing their mini photoshoot, Ezra adjusted his stance so he could full on turn towards the two curious pokemon. While both held a special essence of cuteness, his eyes were immediately drawn to the small Vulpix, who appeared to be the shy one of the two. "Aw, it's okay, I'm not going to bite." The small vulpix blinked at his cooing. It was clear she didn't quite trust him. So, following her trainer's head nod, Sol slowly approached the small thing and began comforting her. Eventually, through a few attempts of befriending, the vulpix eventually lightened up and began approaching Ezra. At this point, he rolled over his poke ball and attempted to capture the small thing, as she seemed to be much friendlier towards them.

Ezra gulped. The sudden appearance of the dreepies made him sick with apprehension. It was clear that this was a mere intimidation tactic, but the intentions didn't dispel the fact that it was extremely effective. "Him?" He approached the question cautiously. In truth, he hadn't done anything to the man besides swipe the ticket to this meeting. Violence was still a very off limits method for the reporter. He was a writer, not a fighter. Still, he knew 'nothing' would be an insufficient answer. Or, at least, that's what he thought.

It was at this moment his façade began to slip. Ezra was no stoic, nor could he ever pretend to be one. Especially when put in tense situations. "I...I would be surprised if he hadn't left town already." A nervous chuckled struggled out of his lips. With nothing but anxiety pumping through his veins, his mask of fearlessness was struggling to stay on. "He'll meet his fate soon enough." A half lie. While he attempted to sound like one of those nasty criminals from his favorite detective show, the reality was that all he did was spread a few webs after swiping the slip. You can learn some crazy things through stalking someone. Things that could get you killed if found out about - worse than killed in some spheres. All he had to do was leave a note indicating that some of that kind of information might be leaked soon.

Running his hand nervously through his slicked back hair, Ezra took another shaky breath before speaking up again. "I'm..." It took a moment for him to recollect his thoughts. What WAS his name going to be? "...Raz."

Baffled? Awestruck? No word could even come close to the emotions Ezra was feeling tonight. Three months ago he was just writing meaningless blog posts about Hoenn's "top ten cutest pokemon". Now? Well, now he was in the same room as monsters with the ability to stand beside legendries. Lugia, Darkrai, and shadow pokemon weren't even concepts to him yesterday. Hell, even the idea of witnessing a legendary was dream-like to him. Since stepping onto their headquarters, everything has felt unreal to the simpleminded reporter. Even his "comrades", who appeared as normal as those from his very own job, felt nightmarish in a sense. As if their mere glance would melt him into a puddle of goop.

Swallowing, his eyes flicked towards the center of the room, fearing the very thought of eye contact. 'Mental pictures, mental pictures...' his brain rattled with foreign words he picked up throughout the night. Blue mulch, absorber, psychological warfare, Lulu Flint , Chu-e Choi , and more... Ezra knew he NEEDED to remember EVERYTHING. Nothing about tonight could be forgotten - as he was the only person who could air this out. He took a steady breath. Hands trembling, he began to move deeper into the crowd, hoping to remain unnoticed. A ghost in their eyes. 'Don't notice me...' he prayed. He knew what would happen if someone caught him, and well, even death would be better than that. And, because he recognized that very fact, he carried not a single camera or note book. Everything written down from tonight was mental and belonged to his brain alone.

The stranger's quizzical look and response absolutely baffled Ezra. He knew hoennians weren't one to one with those he grew up with in Kalos, but he didn't think there would be such a stark difference in these types of things. Are wet caverns really such a hot spot in this region? Are cute cafes not a thing here? God, he felt so bad for them.

Ezra shook his head as they continued to venture further into the cave, still unable to swallow the general sense of disbelief he was feeling. "N-no, no. I'm here for other reasons..." His voice softened, shrinking down to a mere whisper as a feeling of shame began to spread across his face. This look only lasted a few moments, as the man was reminded of his vision board. Be proud of who YOU are the piece of magazine scrap yelled at him. Yes, he had to gulp down his shame and face the world proudly. So, with
a heavy breath, Ezra stopped dead in his tracks, spun towards the stranger, and....mumbled, "Iwantedtotakepicturesformyscrapbook"

Just as he somewhat faced his fear of humiliation, two pokemon jumped out from beside them, circling their group viciously. Sol, who was staring at her trainer with judging eyes, immediately sprung into action. Per Ezra's commands, she attacked the Cloyster with Swift, making sure to expertly dodge his icicle spears while doing so.

When the dust settled between the two, the trainer made sure to chuck a poke ball at the wild mon, wanting to continue filling up his PC.

Capture attempt on Cloyster 

The man's exclamation earned a chuckle from Ezra. "Our asses won't get probed," He paused and thought for a moment. While he assumed that their bottoms would be alien-free, one can never truly predict the future. "At least...I don't think that they will."



The man took moment to glance the area around them once more. Herds of blissful mareeps and wooloos freckled the rolling hills, baaaing contently. It would be a crime for these majestic creatures to feel even the slightest lick of pain. They deserved nothing but endless love from their rancher and onlookers alike. "We do have to stop those beheeyems from probing their butts, though." He pointed out, gesturing towards a nearby group of mareeps.



White picket fencing capsulated the field they were in, allowing both entry and exit through only one main gate to their right. According to the rancher they spoke to, the gate is nearly always locked up, but the culprit's psychic ability naturally counter those attempts of defense. None of that really mattered as Ezra already had his heart set on their method of capture: a classic stake out. "I think we should set up a stake out. Wait 'n see where these alien boys are coming from."

A ripple of shivers ran down his spine. This place, which was a presumedly desolated warehouse, was the perfect setting for one of those stereotypical murders. Ezra could already picture the shot’s layout: him hung up from one of the building’s steel beams, dead. Two detectives would be circling his remains with lit cigarette buds littering the ground around their polished dress shoes. One would probably angrily curse out Team Rocket and declare his undying effort to throw them all in jail. It would the perfect scene, really.

Returning to his dim reality, Ezra took in a deep breath before taking a step forward. Darkness enveloped him and the grotesque smell of rotting fish almost immediately assaulted his nose. “Yeah, I’m not.” His curt response hid the quivering boy inside. Whether his sharp tone was enough to mask the absolute terror in his eyes was up to the mysterious man behind the veil.

”But I’m here for the same reason.” Ezra took a moment before cautiously approaching the office to his right. He made sure to only go as far as permitted, which seemed to be a few feet from the entrance at this point in their conversation. He hoped his ability to get in contact, even through this method, was enough to show he has some merit in his abilities.

Thanks to the sharpedo's effort, the purple demon was slowed enough to grant Ronald the opportunity to make a contribution to the team's effort. Despite the target's resistance, the pile of blubber sped forward with all his might and attempted to sink his long tusks into the insect, hoping his ice fangs would further slow it down. He knew it was dangerous to do so, however, a part of him hoped that it would lead to his trainer being somewhat proud of him.

Ronald was still a unborn fetus in terms of listening to instructions. Up until a few days ago, he had been wild and free, allowed to soak in the sun for hours than bathe in the salty ocean. So, when given the instruction to "go and chase genestic...but evilly." he wasn't quite sure how to react. While he knew through passing knowledge that trainers were supposed to be brimming with knowledge, his felt unusually...slow.

Still, the Ronster wasn't about to disobey his trainer's commands on his first day out. So, alongside his Pokemon comrades, the walrein dove into the icy water and propelled himself forward. As per his comrades' instructions, the ice type used surf to glide himself through the water and along the set directions he was being fed via taps. He wasn't sure of a lot of things going on, but he at least knew how to follow instructions.
