A plain answer but she seemed to mean it. To Callie, it was just simple fact. Amor Rose suited his clothes and the aura she was seeing from him; it was regal if strange.[break][break]

"I think a lot of places are like that. Before the war, I had a lot of people whose jobs were just to make me look good... they chose what I wore, what I said, who I was saw with. Then, even though I tried as hard as I could, people would still pick and pluck at the small mess ups or twist my actions. It was exhausting."[break][break]

She felt like perhaps the other had some type of similar experience.

Eventually she stilled, then slowly sunk down next to him. There was still a gap between them, no touching, but she sighed and turned her head to look away. She seemed to reach for a pokeball, then stared at it and frowned as she placed it back.[break][break]

Amor Rose grabbed Calliope.[break][break]

She started to help hoist the man up, as she had expected, but then he pulled her down.[break][break]

It wasn't really his fault. He pulled and suddenly Callie was seeing ghosts in the walls. Hands reaching out to grab and tear and take. Lifting a hand, she tried to slam the flat of her hand up and into his nose. She tore back up from the seat she had been sat in, panting hard and fists clenched as she backed away.[break][break]

With a shaking breath, she slowly seemed to come back to herself. Blinking back whatever visions were plaguing her.

thread summary: Calliope, having recently returned to Hoenn after health complications, meets up with Navy. They discuss her place in the war effort on Rocket and he offers her a position- which she accepts (kind of).[break]

why is it important?: Kind of surprised I managed to get Callie in on this Curry. This is the first proper thread she's been in since she was dragged out of the archives. It might have been a bit longer, but Callie's pragmatic and 'take action asap' personality sped things along. She's trying to find a place where she matters in the war effort to avenge Kanto while I'm also trying to fit her into broader plots ooc. Only time will tell if her unwavering (and sometimes unfair) beliefs will clash with the people she's allied herself with.

That part, for all her confidence, does come out a bit quieter.[break][break]

All of her pokemon from Kanto had been slain long ago. Right in front of her eyes, no less, as a sick punishment by Rocket. The pokemon she had now were not up to the point her old pokemon had been. She had been working with them tirelessly but there were only so much that experience could make up for time.[break][break]

It does not suit her to be or feel like dead weight.[break][break]

Callie stays silent for a long time after Navy's explanation. Her eye, hard, is elsewhere as she stares through Navy like she doesn't see him. Eventually, she stands- not seeming to care if Navy has finished his drink or not.[break][break]

"Show me, then." She looks down on Navy from her full height. As before, there is no malice there. Just the preference for action. She adjusts her jacket and gathers her trash to tidy up the table a bit before the staff come over.[break][break]

"I'll be a provisional Gym Trainer for the meantime. My dedication to the growth of the youth wasn't something I used to say on TV for good ratings."
