While the man masked in red stands upon his levitating platform, it’s utter chaos that surrounds him and his companion. It’s destruction, it’s fear, it’s anger, it’s hatred, and it’s pain. To him, none of it matters. When the Unown-D’s gaze meets that of his own Unown-?, it psychically meets his as well, and at that very moment, Mars understands its intent.

The chain dissorbs with its approach, countless Unown scattering. It’s not exactly what he had asked of them, but Palkia is freed. Freed from the DRK TRIAD’s control. Free from the League. Free from Team Rocket. For now, at least. It manages to escape and return to roam the Hoenn from which it had been banished. Good. Now it can return to keeping the balance in space, and hopefully Dialga will be able to return to keep the balance in time as well. This world has been fractured for too long; it needs its stability or it will destroy itself before the DRK TRIAD can even come up with another apocalyptic threat.

”Thank you.” He whispers, low enough for only the Unown to hear. Unown-? and Unown-D, but staring directly at him. It’s then, as he stares at the Unown-D that Mars hears it: the soft beep of the device in his pocket.

He could laugh, and apparently that would be fitting of the name this Unown has. Behind the mask, a soft smile tugs at his lips, listening to Cillian Quinn's call and the information shared by people like fern delaney and Amor Rose. It’s over. The meteor had been teleported away, fern delaney had managed to retrieve a portion of the primal crystal, legends had been restored, Palkia had been free, Hoenn had been forever changed, and Father Winter had been defeated.

Defeated.

Is that why the Unown-D had decided to join him or its defection part of what caused Father Winter’s defeat?

Mars looks up at the skies, and with a sigh, he teleports off the platform that shatters to dust the moment he’s gone. Both Unown follow along.

”Good work, Rocket. We have achieved great things today.” He calls over comms. ”Medical attention awaits at Sootopolis for those who need it.”

Now, all that’s left is to find BARNABY FINCH, make sure he’s safe and well, and then go write his EXTENSIVE REPORT ON TODAY’S EVENTS. Just as it always goes, as if the world hadn’t just been about to end. Mars’ work never ends.

LOCATION: MOUNT PYRE, HOENN

1. INITIAL APPROACH
[break][break]
Part of Team Rocket's forces were sent to MOUNT PYRE with the intent of disabling the PRIMAL POINT that the League had placed at the summit of the mountain. The goal behind this was both taking the PRIMAL CRYSTAL powering such a device and delaying the interdimensional teleportation of the meteorite 99943 METENO to the dimension referred to as "Sea Hoenn". The meteorite had reached the stratosphere, and a number of our forces had been sent to land on its surface and mine it for its rare resources.

Heavy fog obscured visibility at the time of our arrival at Mount Pyre, making it difficult to assess how many League agents had been placed in charge of guarding the primal point. This was due to Mount Pyre's natural weather conditions, but it is likely that it had been enhanced by the League with the use of Pokémon moves.

Upon closer inspection, given the sheer number of their forces, it soon became clear that they were expecting us. They had been warned. From where I stood, I was initially able to identify Elite Four members Melody Miro and Callan Young, former gym leader maverick noah ryder, and at least seven other unknown individuals.

Communications cut off shortly after our arrival. Paired with the fog, this made it impossible to keep track of the initial actions of most of our agents. Team Rocket agent locations before disruption are marked as follows:

The sound of a piercing cry came from the location of the primal point, presumed to belong to PALKIA.

2. LEAGUE INTERVENTION
[break][break]
Having gone to the mountain in disguise, my intent was to use stealth to approach the PRIMAL POINT and disable it. However, even I encountered heavy resistance.
[break][break]

• It appears the League recruited everyone they could to assist them in guarding the PRIMAL POINT, even civilians. After an initial encounter with Aidan Hereford, a Private Investigator among those hired by the League, he made the choice of joining our ranks instead of engaging in combat.
• Leonidas Stone (CEO of Eventide) was present at the mountain, in the company of defector MARISOL SIMONE. I heard the sounds of combat and found BARNABY FINCH facing the pair. Multiple enemy Pokémon were injured during this encounter, BARNABY FINCH's Gallade was killed. Having deemed him a potential threat, I shot Leonidas Stone before taking Finch and teleporting away.
• With most people engaged in their own battles and with the fog serving as cover, I made use of these diversions to reach the PRIMAL POINT unnoticed. There, I had my Beheeyem interface with it in an attempt to disable it, but I was stopped by a masked League agent (Gunner Graves). After having dealt with this agent by causing potential life threatening injuries, I instructed my Beheeyem to utilize its METEOR BEAM on the PRIMAL POINT in an attempt to destroy it. It's likely that the proximity of METENO empowered the attack, causing the weaken Beheeyem to overload and explode when attempting to make use of it.
• I had a short encounter with Katherine Fairburne, however, I made the judgemental call that properly engaging would take a considerable amount of time and be detrimental to my task.

3. DRK TRIAD INTERVENTION

Given that the DRK TRIAD were the ones responsible for sending the meteorite to destroy Hoenn in the first place, the fact that they would intervene with the League's plan to teleport it was expected. The DRK TRIAD agent known as FATHER WINTER arrived through a dimensional rift likely created by his own UNOWN-D, bringing PALKIA along with him. This Palkia had the same appearance as the one in the scenario generated by the CLOUD'S PAST TERMINAL (as described in SITREP CLOUD)

True to the fashion displayed during the encounters in Granite Cave (SITREP GRANITE), Father Winter attempted to have everyone present participate in a COIN TOSS despite the immediate hostility with which his presence was met.

• 3.A. PALKIA
  [break][break]
  Father Winter claimed Palkia had been "tamed back to its more subservient form" and that "Palkia desires nothing other than the rescue of all other realities now. Just like its dad." Due to their relation in mythos and ancient scripture, I believe he may have been referring to ARCEUS when speaking of Palkia's father. This would mean that the DRK TRIAD are either cultists who believe their actions are the Will of Arceus, or – less likely so – that the Original One has actually aligned itself with them. If Arceus is as powerful as its mythos claims, I fail to see why it would require the DRK TRIAD as agents to fulfill its will.

  Many attacked Father Winter or Palkia itself. I chose to target his UNOWN-D with my own UNOWN-?, having deemed it as its method to leave our dimension. Upon Father Winter's command, Palkia retaliated with a powerful dimension-shifting attack of its own. The targets of this attack seemed random at first, but I believe they had something to do with the outcome of the coin toss. Father Winter referred to Palkia's dimension-shifting attack as SPATIAL REND.

4. PRIMAL POINT ACTIVATION

The Primal Point activated, firing its beam up towards the meteorite, but the wrapping appeared to be imperfect. Crystals remained, soon being destroyed by RAYQUAZA. These crystals caused the primal point's beam to be reflected back towards Mount Pyre. There was an explosion that shattered the primal crystal. Later on, fern delaney was confirmed to have retrieved a PRIMAL CRYSTAL SHARD.

It appears that the Primal Point's beam affected the balance between life and death at Mount Pyre, causing a rift that allowed the souls of the dead to return to our world. Among those that returned, that of MOLTRES, signs of VICTINI, and FOUR UNIDENTIFIED EERIE CREATURES are of note. Their whereabouts are unknown.

5. THE UNOWN CHAIN

Battered by constant attacks, Father Winter summoned countless Unown through what I speculate was a rift to the UNOWN DIMENSION. He commanded them to "chain Palkia for retreat", which indicates he did not have full control over Palkia's will.

Many attempted to attack the chain created by the Unown in the hope of freeing Palkia or used moves intended to prevent them from teleporting. However, in my own experience I have found most attempts to prevent teleportation prove fruitless when it comes to the DRK TRIAD, and for the most part, that also seemed to be the case in this instance.

I approached Palkia with the intent of communicating with the Unown through my link to my own Symbol Pokémon and the UNOWN REPORT. I commanded them to stop.

The chain dissolved and Palkia was freed. It retreated from Mount Pyre. Its whereabouts are unknown.

5. THE RIFT

The barrier the DRK TRIAD had erected around the region fell, but a rift remains at Mount Pyre. The area is highly unstable and likely extremely dangerous. I recommend further studying it as soon as possible.
