Summer was at one of the local seaside bars in Lilycove, enjoying the evening air as she sipped her drink. Gunner Graves was back at the house, resting after their long day of vacationing. There were a few travelers from different regions, speaking in foreign tongues, visiting on their spring break she presumed.[break][break]

Nevertheless, she told herself she'd enjoy a drink or two and head back to the house to spend more time with her companion.[break][break]

She needed to stop her mind from reeling about the potential rat she had in her company. Even though Gunner's words had calmed her edge a bit, Summer's hackles were still raised from the thought that someone was trying to investigate her. And she made sure that it was clear to her most trusted to put anyone suspicious through a test, as though the company was engulfing them with work.[break][break]

Perhaps it would break them. Who knew. Summer was just keeping business moving.[break][break]

She was so engrossed in her mind she hardly noticed the seat move beside her until the person moving caught her attention. And even then, she almost did a double take when she recognized who it was. Almost.[break][break]

"Well, Miss Councilwoman. What do I have the pleasure of seeing you in Lilycove tonight?" Summer had never personally met PENELOPE LIVY. But she was no stranger to who she was.

Summer would typically never set foot in Ever Grande City. Home to the League's victory road, it was brimming with enthusiastic trainers with their minds set on defeating the Hoenn Elite Four to get their hands on a Champion battle. Not to mention she just felt like she was suffocating in the League's presence here.[break][break]

But she had to remind herself that being CEO now, she needed to make alliances with those in the League. It would help her in the end. It helped her father.[break][break]

Well, that wasn't why she was here. There was a message sent to her about a specific type of Pokemon spotted nearby from one of her sources — a tera type, they called it. Summer hadn't had the chance to see one yet, so of course she wanted a chance to investigate.[break][break]

Not to mention, if they were so special, maybe they could provide a boom in her business if she was the first to start selling them in the black markets.[break][break]

That was a goal for another day. Summer paused when she spotted it. It was glittering in the sun, with a heart-crown settled on its head. An ALTARIA encased in crystal flapping by. From what she understood, the crown indicated it had a fairy typing to it, adding additional coverage — and weakness.[break][break]

"Interesting." So she sent forth her SCOLIPEDE and SKUNTANK for a barrage of poison attacks.

"Do you want anything specific, or should I let them know to make an array of food?" Summer asked, breaking from his grip to approach the phone on the wall to call down for her waitstaff.[break][break]

"Jacques, my dear. Hello, it's good to speak to you too. Listen, I'd like to have lunch down at the beach with my guest. Please set it up, and let the cooking staff know that we aren't picky. Thank you, mwah, mwah."[break][break]

She hung up the phone, looking back to Gunner with a small giggle.[break][break]

"Jacques been serving my family for as long as I can remember. He's like a father to me. He always doted on me, would sneak me things behind my father's back when he was around. I'm pleased we can see him again this week. Now, shall we get ready?"

There was familiar warmth behind her, and Summer leaned against his solid frame as he wrapped his arms around her. It was tempting to take him and have a moment of intimacy right then and there. But, there was also so much more to be done.[break][break]

Not to mention she knew they'd have plenty of time for that later. "Don't worry. I'll help you loosen up."[break][break]

It was meant teasingly, but she didn't mind if he took it more than one way. Summer laughed softly, allowing him to press soft kisses against her skin and sigh against him comfortably.[break][break]

"Let's go have a nice lunch on the beach. We can go from there. But I have two rules." Summer turned in his arms to look up at him.[break][break]

"I have my laptop for emergency purposes only. So you may use it. But rule one: no thinking about work. And rule two: no worry about work. Only emergencies permit use," she said giving him a mix of teasing and serious look.

Summer turned her head away from the ocean view, instead letting her gaze fall back to his face. She snorted, raising one of her eyebrows at him.[break][break]

"You know, you don't have to be so formal with me at all. I invited you here as my companion to enjoy time with."[break][break]

And the honest truth was, they were far past the point of formalities. Their relationship was an affair of passion. It was beginning to change, but that passion was still there and brewing.[break][break]

"I wanted you to come. I didn't want to be alone," she admitted, standing again from the bed to approach the window. Floor to ceiling, they invited in the warm sun, brightening the room better than any light could.[break][break]

"Besides, don't you think we both need a break from the world?"

Summer decided that with the local school's spring break coming up, perhaps she should take some time off work. Leave everything up to her most trusted sidekicks, bring her laptop for emergency purposes, and get away for a little while.[break][break]

After all, since she took over as CEO of Prescott Industries, she never truly took time off anymore. Her previous missions were easy to sneak time in like that. And it wasn't so much like her father cared.[break][break]

In true spring break fashion, Summer decided to go to the beach. She had one of her homes in Lilycove, and her staff let her know it was prepared for her visit. However, she made sure to reach out to Gunner Graves's company because...[break][break]

Well, for once, she didn't feel like being alone.[break][break]

Much to her pleasure, they agreed to let her take their worker. Summer ensured that she'd cover his expenses and work leave under her own dollar. And she didn't give Gunner the choice not to go when she told him.[break][break]

Finally, relaxation. She settled on the edge of her bed, humming contently as she looked out the window where the ocean met the shore. "It's lovely, isn't it?"

She stepped closer, holding his jaw near as he kissed her with a passion they never shared before. She didn't mind it. In fact, it was something she savored with each moment.[break][break]

Only after a few moments did she step back, looking up at him. "Mm... maybe we should go somewhere else? In case another BEEDRILL swarm shows up?"[break][break]

Summer wondered... did she tell him the truth?

Summer chuckled, relaxed a bit more now that the swarm had retreated. Hela stalked back to her master, swooped into her Poke ball for the time being to rest and recuperate.[break][break]

"I don't foresee that being an issue, unless you wrong me somehow. Though I find you too dear to me to do something like that."[break][break]

Of course, it'd happened before. She'd still be careful. But it was the first time she admitted something like that to Gunner, and she was quick to try to divert attention away from her statement.[break][break]

"I have something on my mind... that I want input from you. It's been bugging me for a bit, and I wanted your opinion on it." She rolled her Poke ball in her hand before stashing it away and looking back at him with an earnest expression.[break][break]

"I trust you, so I wanted to hear your mind... I think that someone, or a group, is investigating me. And I believe it's because they believe I have ties to Rocket. And with you being in the legal field... what would you do?" she asked, stepping closer to him, reaching to take his hand gently.[break][break]

"I don't have solid proof, but it's irksome. I don't have anything to hide, but I also have plans I don't want to share with the world yet. What if they get that information to leak? What should I do?" Summer looked up at him, blinking with wide, innocent eyes.

While the sentiment was there, Summer knew well that she didn't need protecting. Gunner may not know it, but she was far from fragile. She only gave herself the aura of such a lady.[break][break]

But, on the field, she was a commanding leader, charging forth with fury and vigor. And it was apparent as she commanded her ZOROARK forward, attacking with his BLAZIKEN to rid the area of the BEEDRILL swarm.[break][break]

"Protect the sides. Ensure none escape!" she commanded Hela, stepping past Gunner's protective barrier to speak.[break][break]

There was a buzz behind, almost unnoticed, but Summer whipped around, throwing a hidden dagger on her person in its direction. It fell with a thunk to the ground.[break][break]

With a quick glance to Gunner, she shrugged with an almost sheepish grin. "Self-defense classes."
