The comment made Oliver curious about Derek. Not a ranger anymore huh? He wondered how come. As much as he hated incompetent idiots or those that purposely use live missions as tests, like a certain Greyson Connors, overall, he loved his job. Even if here in Hoenn, he didn't always have a crack at Team Rocket as he did back home in Johto. Oliver was about to say something about the relocation probably not going to work when Derek already hit that nail on the head. "I was about to say that. We're in agreement there." And the ranger also agreed with Derek on his next comment. Quickly finding the Pelipper, who was just barely waking up, he started to go towards it with Dragonite, Yamper, and Joltik in tow. "I'll be there in a second."

He'll track him down with Yamper. Staring down the scared Pelipper, Dragonite translated for him. "You know, there's a lot of people here every bit as strong as us. Don't come back here expecting a free meal. You got plenty to eat out there, so you best get going. And if I see you and your flock here again...well, maybe I should cook you up next time." He could see the Peliper pale, as did a few others just barely recovering. Squaking it's agreement to leave the place alone, the flock and it retreated away.

Yamper tracked down Derek, so he could get paid as well.

DEREK HOFFMAN

The double team allowed the electric type to tackle the head birb. While it scattered the main flock, Joltik again struck with Discharge, hitting two to six at a time. Yamper came back and used Roar, scaring a small flock away as well. But Hoffman had another idea, a Z-move. Dragonite used Hurricane to corral the Wingull into more of a blob, ensuring a massive strike to take out the vast majority of the massive flock. Ollie didn't have a Z-move or a mega evolution. They didn't have that kind of thing back in Johto. It was certainly one hell of a display...so much so that Oliver was jealous. Well, maybe in due time he'll get one.

But the flock was small...small enough that Dragonite can finish it up. With a combination of Hurricane and Dragon Rush. Yamper and Joltik came back to him. It was brutal, but he had to agree with Hoffman, they should have realized that it was hopeless. But, well, some birds didn't take the hint that well. The couple that did manage to avoid the Dragon Rush flew away, finally taking the hint. But then there was all of these birbs around. "So...what to do with all these Wingull...for as long as it took them to learn a harsh and brutal lesson, I don't think they'll stay away that easily..." Not without a complete relocation, and even that could be iffy.

DEREK HOFFMAN

The Splashfest has been going well. While he missed out on the swimsuit contest due to...other reasons, he at least walked the beaches of Slateport. The stars overhead twinkled even though there was a dome between them and the sky of unknown origin. Plus it seemed impervious to all attacks. But here in the calm night on the beach...one can seem to forget about the worries of impending disaster...even the potential of meeting Arceus or whatever god you worship. As per usual, the dual colored young man had his ear piercings on, an unzipped, zippable red hoodie, yellow-orange swim trunks, and orange crocs. There were some lights in the ocean from various nocturnal fish, but not a whole lot as of yet.

Things can change in a heart beat though. Even being on your own. He had his Joltik and Shieldon out for some fresh air. Joltik was riding on top of Shieldon this time. So far things have been peaceful here on the beach. And he hoped it will stay that way...but luck isn't always on his side.

"That's true. Though we have been commissioned before to remove wild Pokemon from human areas back to their natural habitats while investigating what drove them to human areas. Since that's not really the case here, it makes sense that they didn't come to us, I guess." Much as he didn't really like that, it was a fair point to the other man. The plan sounded mostly good to the commissioned guy, though. "You heard the man, Joltik. Good thing we've done some training first, huh? Go up there and show those birds what a terrifying little guy you are. Try not to use the power line as a power source though, you don't know what it powers, it could be life saving equipment for all you know. Yams, keep them from getting reinforcements from else where." The Joltik saluted and jumped onto Ollie's outstretched hand, then onto a stall's roof, then moved up towards its vantage point. Yamper yipped in confirmation, and started to go around the area. Distant Roars from him could already be heard.

Then the attack started, and the stranger's Zeraora met them in the air with Plasma Fists. In an impressive display, it knocked out all three of them with ease. But it wasn't a flyer, so battling them could be difficult if it didn't know a ranged attack. Taking out a Pokeball, Oliver released his ace. A tall, if slightly cute and derpy looking, but powerful, Dragonite appeared. "Dragonite, this is an air battle. Keep those Wingull and Pelliper from stealing these fishermen's fish. Joltik is running crowd control once he gets into position, and Yamper is keeping them from getting reinforcements from nearby. Work with Zeraora when needed, but it's all up to you and your judgement." Giving his trainer a thumbs up, the dragon barked at the Zeraora to let him know if he needed a stepping stone or something.

With a short dash forward, and a vertical fly up, Dragonite used Dragon Rush on several Wingull being led by a Pelliiper, bulldozing through their formation like it wasn't even there. Joltik surprised a trio of Wingull on the main pole for the wire via a Discharge. The second Discharge was aimed at eight different Wingull flying around, surprising them as well, but only hitting two of them. Despite being a cutie, Ollie had already trained Joltik to be quite the electrical powerhouse, something he was desperately needing...

DEREK HOFFMAN

Derek confirmed that it was the Wingull. The one that got smacked around like a plaything did manage to recover enough to leave, but man, did it take a beating. What the man said made sense. Oliver never had the time to actually stop by the fish market nor was he around enough to actually shop around. He always got back late, and often had to use an app. to get his groceries. Then came the offer. Oh, he was definitely ready to earn some cash on the side...even though he half wondered why this was never brought up to the Rangers. "I'm in. Though I question why this never was asked of the Rangers? Or at least asked their opinion? I mean, I live right here in Lilycove, I'd be the perfect candidate for this request..." Though it was curious that there were so many more than he thought...but he should still be able to handle it.

Well, they did circle around the market. So Yamper knew how large the place was. "So, scare them away or show them they would have an easier time to catch their meal from the nearby ocean. Sounds simple enough, though if I had to guess, that big Pelipper is the alpha. Usually if you defeat it or convince it to leave, they and their crew tend to do so. I can have Yamper patrol the perimeter to make sure no new friends come near. That electric line is perfect for a Discharge...and Joltik has it, and can do crowd control. My Dragonite can handle a lot, and does know Thunder Punch. Got an idea for a plan of action beyond that?" There might be a better way that he just hadn't thought of yet. Might as well ask his new partner.

DEREK HOFFMAN

Oliver had been walking his Yamper, and giving his Joltik a breath of fresh air. The little lightning bug was in his shirt pocket, where he kept a few batteries for his little tyke's comfort. He had quickly been able to train his Yamper on his voice commands, and hasn't had any issues, and had been a good boy. During the walk, he met a...good looking guy. They had accidentally bumped shoulders, but a quick apology amounted to nothing happening. The guy also seemed pretty laid back, if on a mission with his Zeraora. The guy did ask him to come with him too. Huh, wierd. But maybe the guy was into him? Or just wanted a companion/chat.

Either way, Oliver didn't mind. He had meant to call andres buenaventura to see if they can chill sometime. He needed some friends. The man asked him what he was here for. Ollie quickly found that they were going to the fish market. He had meant to come down one of these days instead of having cheap microwave meals. "Just walking Yamper and giving Joltik a breath of fresh air. I do have some of my other buddies with me, but I didn't really have any plans. Name's Oliver by the way. What about you?" The semi-bad boy looking ranger asked the guy. While also looking around. He noticed some venders being a little cagey, and glaring up. It was then that the man saw an awful lot of Wingull flying around. Oh boy. He knew those looks...these guys were wanting food.

"Does you being here have something to do with all these hungry looking Wingull?"

DEREK HOFFMAN

Oliver was given a mission to check out a supposed barrier. With communications and everything else having been cut off from the rest of the world, it made everyone nervious. Plus, it made certain plans impossible for the time being. Having missed out on helping out earlier against Necrozma, Oliver was eager to help out. Flying on Dragonite's back per usual, he should be pretty close to where it was. Bravary was out as well, to test it. From what he could see...there was nothing. No visible change to the water, no distortion of any kind, no indication that a barrier of some sort was around. He thought back to the Wailord swarm that was beaching themselves due to Sharpedo and possibly something else interfering with their migration habits.

Sighing heavily, he looked at Braviary. "Well, we're supposed to be close to the barrier...mind doing Sky Attack and see if you run into anything?" The birb screeched in confirmation, and started to gather up power. Looking around, he did notice something else flying around. It wasn't a Wingul or Pelipper. It was larger. Taking out a pair of binoculors, it looked like it was...a Salamence. An amazing Pokemon for sure. And someone was riding it. Slowly it seemed, like they were cautious of something. Well...maybe the rumors of a barrier may not be completely unfounded. But he guessed he'll see if Braviary hit anything with his Sky Attack...

Personality: Oliver doesn't take to active sabatoge of a mission well. And takes his bosses saying "If you think you're in control, nature has a way of showing you that you're not" fairly seriously. Having missed out on the Darkest Day, he really wants to get in on the action, and has since stepped up his training on his other Pokemon after hearing the casaulty reports. He has no patience for political leaders interfering in affairs unless they actually know what they're talking about. Nor does he deal well with other people's BS and admiration for Team Rocket. Being from Blackthorne and having lost his own parents to the organization. That said, he's more diplomatic to those kinds people than the actual members, looking for any excuse to rough up Rockets. This all said, he's a hopeless romantic, highly apologetic when/if he makes mistakes, and is generally a good guy. He doesn't like civilians butting in where they shouldn't either, but so long as they get the message across, he'll let them go. He knows the League has its faults, but hearing everything that goes on in Kanto, he hopes to help spare Hoenn the same fate.

Relationships:

Greyson Connors - Things started well...until Greyson started agitating things for no reason. There's a time and a place for tests, and live missions were not that way. Oliver very nearly abandoned him to clean up his own mess, and has a very poor opinion of the man. In Ollie's mind, with people like this guy in the League, no wonder people are losing confidence in them. Oliver has no respect for the guy, and blatantly ignores him whenver possible. Thankfully, they've only had one real encounter, and hopes it stays that way. Unfortunately, teammate. Aquintance

Andrea Vaneau - A wierd girl with no common sense, but well meaning. Certainly someone to look out for, if nothing else but to make sure she keeps her nose clean and stays safe. Despite this, he hopes she doesn't fall prey to the false Rocket Propoganda as of late. Aquintance

THEO BECKETT - A Rocket member that he highly suspects was involved in trying to rob the bank he was protecting, and switched tactics. Oliver managed to arrest him, but was dismayed at either the incompetance or something else that allowed his bail. Either way, if they meet again, a fight is sure to breakout. Enemy

andres buenaventura - This gem of a human being Oliver will be forever grateful for, and wish they could meet up again. After accidentally breaking into the man's apartment, instead of calling the police or letting his surprisingly evil/powerful Eevee kill him, he took care of the drunken ranger. Oliver clearly has a very high opinion of the man, even to the point of giving him a chance if Andre swung that way and was single. Aquintance, Potential Friend for sure



Friends: Further cementing of who is listed as a potential friend and gaining others is a must.

Significant Other: Certainly wouldn't mind.

Enemies: Going to include this here since its most likely with him and Asher, but all of Rocket is his Enemy, and known members automatically gets this designation.

"That's fair, but that's up to the teacher on that one." He wasn't afraid of a fight, his Dragonite was very powerful, and his Bravary could hold his own extremely well. Weepinbell was the only outlier with who he had. While his Sharpedo was untested in a fight, he'd worked hard with them. Yvaine evidently didn't read the commission closely enough, but also took responsibility for that. She then described what she did. A freelancer of sorts. Just enough vagueness to worry about the legitimacy of her occupation. Either way, she agreed to let him go first, mentioning who she all brought. Zoroark, Gliscor, Kommo'o and Shinx. Three Pokemon that he wasn't terribly familiar with, two of them even being quite rare. Gliscor he knew of, even dealt with. Gliger living in the mountains around Blackthorne City, his hometown.

Nodding, he simply waited. Soon enough, the Teacher with about a dozen and a half children walking towards them, all of them wearing a swimsuit, light jacket, and footwear. The teacher simply introduced them and then let them go from there. "As Mrs. Heckliable said, I'm Oliver Shrakes, I'm a Pokemon Ranger. As a ranger, we're more concerned about nature, Pokemon impact on it, and conservation. We do also play supporting roles against Team Rocket and other more combat oriented threats. We're also often called on for search and rescue. So if you get lost in a forest, we're the ones in charge of finding you. Our Pokemon helps is find missing people, calm wild Pokemon down, and more. Without further adieu, let me show off four of my team." Taking out four pokeballs, he tossed them and released his four buddies. The first being a Sharpedo, hanging out in the water, surprising the children. The second was close to the water's edge, but was a Weepinbell. Bravary was next, flying briefly before landing on the ground. But the one that illicited the most reactions was his Dragonite. Wide eyes, ooos and awes, and so cools filled the air. About what he expected. The Bagon line was more native to Hoenn, where the Dratini line was more in line with Johto and Kanto. "We use a variety of Pokemon, usually flying and grass types. I'm originally from Johto's Blackthorne City. So Dragonite are not unheard of. He's my oldest friend, having helped up him when he was a Dratini. He's my main battling Pokemon when needed, as well as my transport. He's strong and fast, he's been able to find people and Pokemon and defend them, as well as deal with natural disasters better than teams of other Pokemon. He's the star of my team, but he's not my be all or end all. Everyone has their faults. Bravary here I'ved the second longest. Far rarer in Johto, I lucked out on finding a Rufflet. Since then, he's been able to counter Dragonite's speed with being much more thorough, often finding people and Pokemon before Dragonite does or had missed. He can certainly hold his own, but crowd control had been his own niche for a while now.

That has since been passed down to Weepinbell here. Crowd control and calming Pokemon is part of their job. As well as helping people and Pokemon out of trees. Weepinbell has been an instrumental part of my strategies in dealing with situations here in Hoenn. Sharpedo was the first Pokemon I caught here in Hoenn when I realized just how underequipped I was for the area. So much water. *children chuckle* Yeah, I know. Anyways, he's been instrumental in finding those stranded at sea. Dragonite may be a strong swimmer, but obviously Sharpedo is faster, and can actually dive much farther down. He's been a good rescue shark. Can someone volunteer to touch him?" There were a lot of nervous glances, but one little boy eventually volunteered. His Sharpedo leaned back a little to better show his snout. The boy tentatively touched the Pokemon's snout, and after a small bit of surprise, started to pet him faster. "Most Sharpedo's ability is rough skin, making them extremely hazardous to touch. This one's is Speed Boost. He gets faster and faster. While his skin is still rough, it's at least safe to touch. That has helped immensly with those that get in trouble with sea faring Pokemon. Any questions?"

After several questions from the curious kids, he let his aquantance take the floor.

Yvaine Varron

Luckily, everyone was okay. A Flaafy came out as well, seeaking reassurance from CJ. It was...rather adorable. "That's adorable..." The red head had a rather soft expression on his face. Nodding at the departure, Ollie likewise said his goodbyes. "Yep, I still have a bit to go. Stay safe, and have a nice evening!" With a wave, he started to continue on his own little adventure. Looking at his Dragonite, he noticed a little yellow dot. It was a petrified Joltik! Taking out an apple, and letting his Dragonite know he had a hitchhiker and where they were at, Oliver coaxed the little guy off of his dragon and onto the apple. And it ate the apple surprisingly. Poor thing looked scared. After eating its fill, the tiny Pokemon jumped on his shirt and snuggled in it. Chuckling, Ollie offered his jacket pocket, which they happily went into. Guess he had another friend to take care of...
