Thread Summary:
Speed date between Lia and Xander Belmont! This was the first date during the event for both of them and also the first time they met ♡

Why is it important?:
I chose this thread because even though it's short, it shows aspects of Lia's character that I don't often get to write. Lia is someone who is usually really brave about things, and even though she can have her doubts, she tends to push forward regardless (sometimes even to a reckless degree). However, the one exception to this is romance, and she's much shyer and more hesitant about that aspect of her life. This is showcased throughout the thread, but to her surprise, Xander results to be someone who makes her feel really comfortable, and their date turns into a quick game of twenty questions which then leads to him texting her later on to arrange a second date.

I really enjoy the dynamics between both characters, and I look forward to their future threads.

Rose hues colour all too pale cheeks as they make their way further into Hoenn’s desert, and while it would be nice to say that this is due to the presence of the all-too-handsome man walking next to her, the fact of the matter is that it probably has more to do with the area’s merciless heat.

Clad in shorts and with her hair tied up in a ponytail, Lia does her best to focus on the conversation and not the scalding sunlight, eyes the colour of blooming dandelions falling upon @warren when a question is asked.

”Peacefully?” She hadn’t expected an approach like that from a man like him, but perhaps that’s her judgments getting the better of her. After all, they don’t really know each other. ”Yeah, I think that’d be good. We could stun them or put them to sleep, maybe? Relocating them could be an issue, though – Sandaconda are really heavy.”

Small hands marked by the slight callusing of a lifetime of practising archery fiddle with the hem of a black sundress, ever-short nails being adored by a layer of nail polish that is far beyond what Lia would usually bother with given the type of life she leads – sparkling and tangerine in shade.

She’s nervous, but perhaps that is to be expected on a day like this, for while Lia has a tendency to go about things in life bravely and with confidence, dates are… quite out of her comfort zone, to say the least.

When was the last time she did something like this?

Aside from the speed dating event at Slateport’s contest hall, that is.

While trying not to overthink all these things and definitely doing a terrible job at it, she offers the Fletchling perched on her shoulder a few loving scritches, the small bird chirping happily just as the ferry finally reaches the dock that lead to Ever Grande City's gym.

When she stands, she takes a deep breath, and yet, despite all of her nerves, it’s softly that she smiles once stepping onto the dock and seeing Xander Belmont waiting for her.

To be completely honest, when Lia had implied she wanted to ask what Katherine wanted, she hadn’t expected an actual response, much less a story. Still, it’s with interest that she listens to what the Elite Four member has to say, talk of exploring and relics lighting up just the right portions of her brain.

It makes her want to know more.

As a historian who spent much of her career identifying and appraising relics, it makes her want to see those plates in person.

Just as she’s about to ask another question, to explain her own experience with relics and all things of the sort, the bell dings, indicating the end of this “date” of theirs.

Thumbs twiddled as she waited for her next date, her patience apparently finding itself outmatched by her nervousness. It showed too, no masks for facades hiding how she felt. But, was there really anything to be nervous about? Lia was usually an extremely confident person, but not when it came to this sort of situation…

Her nerves proved themselves to be the appropriate response when she saw who was approaching the table. See, as a member of the Elite Four, Katherine Fairburne was known by the people of Hoenn, but even if she hadn’t been, there was something about her that made her…as beautiful as she was intimidating.

A deep breath and a smile, soft and gentle. ”Hey! I’m Amelia, nice to meet you.” She offered a hand for her to shake, her Comfey excitedly twirling in the air in greeting.
