Route 115 just so happened to be one the ranger was familiar with since long before becoming a ranger, for it was one she had known well since she was a child. A route right by the city where she had grown up, one that’s filled with nostalgic memories even on afternoons like this one.

Sitting sidesaddle-style on the back of her Zebstrika, Lia rode closer to the shore, her gold-coloured gaze watching their surroundings in search for anything unusual. Up above, a Decidueye soared. They were supposed to be patrolling, but having done enough patrols ever since first becoming a cadet, she could already tell she’d probably find nothing out of the ordinary.

Except perhaps for the smoke of a campfire.

Which, admittedly, was also ordinary, although still potentially dangerous if left unattended by the campers…

That’s why she guided her Zebstrika to approach, intending to check things out, but instead of disaster, what Lia found was a young trainer enjoying herself by the side of a campfire. The sight made her smile.

The sound of her laughter joins that of angelo vestri’s half-cough half-laugh after he takes a bite of the berry, the Tamato spice clearly hitting with full force even in this form (or does this make it even worse?). It’s all almost too easy, really, so much so that an ever so slight pang of guilt comes by the time she heads over and sits near where the pilot had been having a nice time with his pokémon by the fire’s side.

”Sorry about that, I had to.” A smirk comes with these words, making it sound as if she obviously had no choice but to prank Angelo. And, considering the annoyance of the Ground type by her side, she may not have, because the Marowak clearly wanted to be the one who ate the berry – no matter how awfully spicy.

Still, its trainer pays the pokémon's grumpiness no mind, and reaching into her bag, she pulls out a clear bottle that is then offered to Angelo. ”Here, I promise this one’s just water.”

The same could probably be said about her, and knowing as much, Lia smiles, taking a moment to look at the people around them. She recognizes luka chêne from her visit to Lavaridge a couple of months back, and when catching the other woman’s gaze, she waves at her.

In theory, it was supposed to be a fairly simple mission, and of course it was, since it had been assigned to no more than a pair of trainees. Surely the Rangers would have never sent them anywhere too dangerous when they were not completely prepared for whatever challenges awaited them, would they?

Help at a honey farm. Use Fire type moves to smoke out the Combee and collect their honey.

By having her Talonflame blow winds upon the flames created by her Alolan Marowak’s it was soon that the smoke necessary to keep the Combee at bay was created. As they worked, it danced through the air as if fog, blurring their vision while they worked on collecting honey.

Lia is still frustrated, she’s still annoyed, and there’s still a certain bitterness she feels about Ana’s words and actions. Yet, even if all this is true, there’s no denying that there’s relief in hearing that her older sister wants to feel connected to their family when she’s so obviously not.

The stars had aligned for them to meet here after so many years, and while Lia had initially thought it to be a terrible thing, maybe it’s not…

Even if she’s still annoyed.

The effort to actually be there.

The effort to care and to stop running away from them.
