When the islands come into view, there’s a small and quiet sigh of relief, and a short laugh soon follows it. ”Is it that obvious?” There’s no actual surprise in her voice, because why would there be? He’s right, after all, and as confident as Lia may be, she’s not going to act like she’s some veteran ranger when she hasn’t even completed her training. ”I’m a historian. Sure, they may talk often and Lia may even visit from time to time, but it’s still not the same as having her here, is it? It’s not the same as having people she can rely on when she needs them. It’s not the same as having a support system.

Who can she rely on? Who supports her?

It’s what her family was to her in the past, and it’s not what Ana is in Lia’s eyes. Just like how Ana would probably never rely on her.

”...I don’t know.”

A sigh, one that comes heavy with frustration.

”It doesn’t matter.”

It does, but it’s easier to pretend like it doesn’t.

Be it by predisposition or be it thanks to the years spent at quiet libraries, silence is not something that bothers Lia in the slightest.

Of course, it also isn’t something she particularly cherishes or enjoys unless she has a good way to keep herself busy, and so, it’s soon enough that her gaze wanders towards the cute stranger that joins her in the sauna. Inevitably, she catches one of her glances, and she can’t help but chuckle at this – offering a polite and sympathetic smile.

”Would you be okay with turning the heat up a little?”

The question seems like a good enough icebreaker, while also serving the purpose of making the sauna all that more enjoyable.

A little more heat won’t do any harm, right?
