Even if the CEO didn't expect an answer from Thomas, the disgraced Marquis had something to say. "Perhaps that's a question for Yveltal.", Thomas remarked. The former Avatar spoke the name of the Emissary of Death with venom and spite.

As the Orrean made his joke about his dad, Thomas rolled his eyes, and kept riding. Thankfully, the two arrived at their destination.

Thomas immediately tossed down two Pokeballs, one containing his Ceruledge, the other his Annihilape. "Defend the girl!", Thomas called out to the duo.

The Ceruledge immediately got to work on the malevolent spirits, hacking away at them with Bitter Blades. Ralph the Annihilape struck at the spirits with his Rage Fist. With each hit he had to endure, his rage only accumulated.

"I'm gonna find a place to land!", he told Ozni. Kalameet went to work finding a suitable place to allow the two humans to dismount off of him.

Thomas chuckled upon hearing what Josh had to say. "New friends, you say?", Thomas inquired.

"Hoennian Entei, you say?", Thomas probed. So were these prehistoric forms of the Legendary Beasts really dubbed as Hoennian counterparts? "And I'm not surprised. I let her ride my Arcanine into a Tera Tunnel months ago. After that, I've been giving her lessons on riding Pokemon with high sustained speeds.", he'd tell Josh.

"Are you sure?", he asked. "I also dealt with a 'Hoennian Suicune' while down there. I've already handed it off to the League for study and processing.", he told the Champion quietly. "And I got time, if you've got time."

Thomas frowned upon getting his answer. "I see. Desiree got injured dealing with the Pokemon that emerged from the Chasm that day. Though her injuries got healed quickly, I'm afraid the event took its toll on her.", he'd reveal to the Gym Leader. "I just hope she got out safe. We were dealing with a horde of Paradox Pokemon, when we got separated."

When the Primeape accepted the Audino's hug, with encouragement from the other two, Pulse let out a delighted little squeak. The Audino hugged the pig monkey back happily. Even if it wasn't as long as the other two, he enjoyed the affection all the same.

Pulse giggled as the Wigglytuff got in close, opting to hug the Wigglytuff some more. He clearly couldn't get enough of the soft fur of the Fairy-type. And if the Minccino wanted to join in, he'd be happy to snuggle her too.

"Of course, it's not too far off from here.", he'd tell Thea, before heading back home to the Ranch.

When the group arrived on the Ranch grounds, the entrance marked by a large sign of a smiling Audino waving, a sizable horde of cute Pokemon greeted the group. Several Audino, a good number of Eevee and their evolutionary line, a Pikachu, a Shinx, Stufful, and Clefable all greeted Thomas, and his new guests, eagerly.

Those that approached Thomas were all greeted by being picked up, and given big hugs. The more sociable members of the horde greeted Thea, and her Pokemon warmly.

"Welcome to Duvet Ranch.", Thomas told Thea, smiling as his Stufful pounced onto him, snuggling him.

"Hold that thought.", Thomas told the bartender, as he made his way over to the commotion.

Thomas watched as the older man grabbed onto the woman's wrist, as she tried to get away from him. Finally, Thomas interevened, placing a hand firmly on the other man's shoulder.

"What she's trying to tell you is 'fuck off!'", Thomas growled at the other man, intense eyes beaming down on him.

"Back off, slowly. I'll only ask this nicely once.", Thomas warned the lecherous man.

After what happened between him and Yveltal, Thomas never really enjoyed visiting Mt. Pyre.

Today, his visit was of necessity. An independent documentarian went missing while recording footage at Mt. Pyre. Their parents, having not heard from them in days, were worried. When they made a call into the League, Thomas was the first to respond to the call, seeing as he was in Lilycove when the call went out.

The Kalosian, accompanied by his Lucario, silently waited at the entrance for their partner. It was someone new to working in the Region, that was all he heard about this person.

Despite their best efforts, Thomas and Ermac wound up crashing. And just like that, his lead was dashed.

A part of Thomas wanted to help Eva Morales, get her out the sand. Ermac, ever focused on the race, focused on recovering from the crash. The ghostly fish recovered, and began taking off.

Thomas watched as the Barraskewda managed to get itself out of the inlet. Though he felt guilty about not helping her out, at least she got out, in the end.

Regardless of any lead lost, the race was still young, and there were plenty of opportunities to come back.

Upon facing their next obstacle, Thomas had his Basculegion slow down, in order to get through the obstacle in one piece. There was no point in crashing again.

As the Hydreigon raced through the Border, Thomas frowned. Why the hell didn't he make sure that the other man had a mount of his own? Why didn't he bring a second mount this time?

As Ozni scooted back into him, Thomas' eyes widened with irritation. Before the man could complete his sentence, Oz was silenced by the sight of the stretching topology of the realm.

"It's stretching itself thin, to the point where it's tearing itself apart.", Thomas remarked.

Finally, they would approach their destination. The spirit of a young girl, which seemed to be surrounded by what appeared to be darker spirits.

"That her?", Thomas asked Ozni.

Thomas slumped back on the bed. His mind was practically racing at this point. Visions of his friends suffering and dying, voices scolding him for not being there for them. Only when Bunni came racing into the room was there any relief. The Audino rushed to her master's side, hugging him and calming him with a Heal Pulse.

Thomas held Bunni close to him, the short, fine fur of the healer providing him some much needed grounding. Thomas attempted to find the words to tell the Audino what was going on, but the man was dumbstruck by the fear and dread plaguing his mind. The Audino felt this as she placed her feeler against his chest. All she could do was hold him, and not let go.

Finally, the vibration of his phone got his attention. Thomas, with his free hand, took a look. It was from Vanilla!

A sense of relief washed over him. It seemed that whatever calamity fell over the Region failed to take her, as it seemingly failed to claim him.

"I should throw myself together.", Thomas remarked.

The Audino stepped out of the room, giving her master some privacy, as he changed into some quick clothes. A pair of jeans, a black button-up shirt, and black socks covered most of his body. Finally, Thomas slipped into his boots.

By the time he finished, Bunni was the one who answered the door. The Audino cried out happily upon seeing the lass. She'd then escort Vanilla towards the kitchen, allowing her to take a seat at the table. Soon to follow was Thomas, who rushed up to Vanilla, attempting to scoop her up, and give her the biggest hug he had given her to that day.

"Vanilla, I'm so glad you're okay!", Thomas told her, his voice filled with an uncharacteristic sense of worry and urgency.

Thomas sat at the edge of his bed. The normally calm and collected Kalosian found himself unusually anxious. After the Excursions into Area Zero, the former Elite Four wasn't quite the same. Fear of losing those closest to him, visions of them dying horrifically plagued him.

It got to the point where training sessions with DESIREE BLOOMS were compromised. The previous night, it resulted in an argument between the two, and her storming off on him. Though he wanted to go after her, and tell her he was sorry, he ultimately reasoned that she needed some space, and that he needed to think on his own behavior.

As soon as Thomas woke up, the first thing he did was to send Desiree a text apologizing to her. When she didn't text him back, he figured she was still furious with him, and was giving him the cold shoulder. So he texted Alexei Ivanov, telling the Gym Leader that he fucked up. He figured, since Fortree was his turf, that he could help smooth things over between them, perhaps give him some advice. But when he didn't respond, Thomas grew suspicious.

A text to Michael Navidson yielded no results as well. But when he texted paxton concordas, and got nothing thirty minutes later, he knew something was up.

Paranoia and terror welling up in his mind, Thomas urgently sent messages to those on his list of contacts. Elise Calcifet, Genevieve Cromwell, Michael Davis, Josh Devlin, Aubre McKenna-Settentrione, John Sullivan, Yuina Higashi, and luka chêne all received texts from Thomas, frantically asking them if they were okay.

Finally, Thomas, in a panic, sent a series of texts to Vanilla. The idea that his young apprentice might've had something horrific happened to her caused his fear-addled mind to work in overdrive.
