After what happened between him and Yveltal, Thomas never really enjoyed visiting Mt. Pyre.

Today, his visit was of necessity. An independent documentarian went missing while recording footage at Mt. Pyre. Their parents, having not heard from them in days, were worried. When they made a call into the League, Thomas was the first to respond to the call, seeing as he was in Lilycove when the call went out.

The Kalosian, accompanied by his Lucario, silently waited at the entrance for their partner. It was someone new to working in the Region, that was all he heard about this person.

It wasn't his first distress call, and he knew that it wouldn't be the last. However, it was the first time he was going on a call that pertained to someone potentially being dead on scene. It wasn't something that he hadn't seen before, but it was definitely not a preferred sight to see when he'd just finished his coffee.

The trek up Mt. Pyre proved insignificant thus far. Montgomery had been told his partner was already at the meeting point, so there was no point in holding him up longer than he already had. He clicked his tongue, the CLAYDOL levitating at his side moving ahead.

When he reached him, he let out a barking laugh.

"Well, ain't you a sight for sore eyes! Didn't expect my help to be someone I'd met back in Unova. Shoot, didn't think they'd send a killer to find a missin' person." Montgomery's lips were quirked in a smirk.

Thomas watched as the Claydol floated towards him. Then, an all too familiar laugh filled his ears. Thomas immediately got into a stance, ready to attack, should the cowboy try anything.

"Montgomery.", Thomas greeted the man, with a cold tone. "Come to chat me up, or take me out?", he inquired.

When Montgomery called him a killer, his eyes narrowed. Did Rocket brief him on what happened on Route 105? Or did they get proof that he was the Wraith? "Me, a killer? What'd they tell you, exactly?", Thomas asked the man.

Cobalt began to study the man's aura. Imediately, the Lucario noticed that the man wasn't immediately hostile.

"At ease, soldier. I ain't here to start trouble. I'm a cop, after all. Wouldn't want to arrest ya for aggravated assault." He flashed the cuffs at his hip for proof.

Then again, he may or may not believe that he made such a drastic change. "Unimportant. So, yer comin' or what?"

"You're a cop now? Got a badge to go with those cuffs?", Thomas inquired, still skeptical.

Whether or not he presented a badge to him, Cobalt got his attention. The Lucario began to signal to the trainer that the cowboy wasn't hostile. Thomas reluctantly eased up.

"Yeah. If our missing person is still alive out there, Cobalt here can pick up their Aura. Otherwise, the family provided me with one of their wristbands. Got anything with a good nose? If not, I got my Arcanine.", Thomas explained to the cop, as he followed him down the trail.

He let that hang there for a second, deciding to let Thomas make out what he would with that sentence rather than emphasizing himself. Montgomery noticed that with his Pokemon's insistence, the man began to relax, if only a little bit. Well, that'd do.

"Unless ya think metal can track down a scent. But, my SKARMORY can track ahead of us in the sky." He released the metallic bird, allowing it to go up and begin to search ahead.

"Now, ya ain't gonna do nothin' funny to me while we're searchin', right?"

"Hardy-fuckin'-har.", Thomas replied to the man dryly.

Thomas allowed the Skarmory to take point for them. Thomas brought out his Arcanine, Rufus. Thomas held out the band, allowing the Arcanine to take its scent in. The Arcanine excitedly went on the trail of the scent.

"Long as you don't try anything funny.", Thomas replied to the reformed criminal, before following after the Pokemon.

Even if his Lucario deemed him not a threat, the memory of their previous encounters still tainted Thomas' mind. It'd take a bit before he could overcome the association with those memories.

The all too familiar grin wasn't lost on Thomas. Despite whatever issues he may have had with the man in the past, it was his Lucario that kept him in line. The assurance that the man was on the road to change, and that if he tried to betray him, his Lucario could sniff it out.

While his Skarmory had a bird's eye view, his Lucario's sense of aura picked up on the aura of the injured. The Lucario charged over to where the Skarmory was directing.

"Looks like we got here just in time!", Thomas remarked, following Cobalt over.

Upon reaching the missing person, Thomas immediately brought out his Audino, Bunni. The Audino immediately got to work on the documentarian, while Thomas reached for a bottle of water.

"Everything's gonna be okay!", Thomas assured them, offering them the fresh water.
