The impact of the Dragonair's tail is incredible. It times itself perfectly with the thunderclap above. Water sprays wildly as the Pokemon's impressive tail smashes against the Flapple. If it were baseball, that surely would have been a home run.

"Holy."

Before her very eyes, her child has blossomed into a beautiful serpent of the sky. It made the elaborate tattoo between her showers tingle with anticipation, with intensity. It took her breath away, positively.

Remi snaps herself back to attention with rapid-blinks at Alexei's shout. It might be the first thing he's said since the battle started. That must mean something, right?

Qi'ra twirls, righting herself clumsily after the aqua tail smooths out. But, given her extravagant and invigorating evolution, she has regained strength and pride. She is beautiful, she is powerful, and would not be bested by a pathetic slap and flap of the wings! Her own wings extend on the crown of her head, flaring defiantly.

The serpent composes herself, coiling and trembling with rage - not real rage. In one breath, the Dragonair unleashes an OUTRAGE, her voice causing the rain to scatter and the puddles to jump in fear.

But this, held in his arms as she is now, it feels.. right, even if the knot in her stomach and the lump in her throat suggests it is not. She inhales, breathing him in, holding onto the moment, and him, for as long as she can.

She's selfish.

"I don't know."

Somehow, a refill for both of their drinks is more bizarre than his cold indifference. She squints at him, though she's sure that he isn't paying her any sort of attention.

That is, until he asks the hard-hitting question of the evening. Remi sucks in a breath, considers his ask, and opens her mouth to speak.

"You first."

That was the thing about Remi. She threw around words without a care for the consequences or the real meaning behind them. Friends was a pretty strong word for a woman like her to use. Her, who lived strictly on a need-to-know basis and worked alone. She kept no one close to her side, wore her heart in the bottom of her dirty boots, and kept no promises.

"Keep practicing, maybe one day you'll make something I might want to eat."

Remi raises a brow, follows his movement as he polishes and puts away his own glass. Her own would not be far behind, pushed closer to him with a flick of her fingers.

"They're cheap and dirty-- if I didn't know any better, I'd think you're hitting on me."

Francie.

Yep, she was absolutely going to get that wrong later on when it really counted and would be totally horrific and embarrassing. Naturally.

Remi smiles, but this time it isn't quite as forced as it might normally be. Francie was a breathe of fresh air, and pretty as pie to boot. Her enthusiasm was contagious, and something told her that after a few more drinks and a little bit of fun, this could very easily be a night to remember.

Fortunately, or maybe unfortunately, Francie doesn't have to voice her concerns about gender - she can somehow pick it up. Call her annoyingly observant, or ceaselessly paranoid. To be fair, the entire situation was odd.

"It auto-filled my profile as male. Definitely not male."

Remi's entire body shakes with the enthusiasm of this woman's handshake. She somehow manages to be simultaneously gentle and aggressive. Her knuckles aren't crushed together, but she is almost dizzy by the time Matilda lets go of her hand.

Remi manages to finish her speech, however, with only a slight change in gusto given the handshake. She's rattled, surely, but she manages to keep it together while they walk away to follow after the headstrong archaeologist. Even from here, she could hear the woman prattling on about types of rocks and fossils and how to properly extract objects without damaging the specimens.

Boring.

"Hm?"

Oh, right, she hadn't introduced herself. She was bad for that.

"Remi. This here's Bane."

Bane grunts, nods to Matilda, and then turns back to get back into 'work-mode'. He rocks the stone-cold serious face. It was seriously enough to scare away even the most intimidating Garchomp.

Laughing and being laughed at are two very different situations-- fortunately, Evelyn's giggling doesn't appear to be malicious in the same manner own might. That, too, was refreshing in it's own right.

"I haven't been around the block long enough to know how much 'hail' Rocket deserves outta me."

Remi raises a brow and chuckles low in her throat.

"Do we have to be? Is that really the image you wanna paint for yourself? Sure, I run with gangs, I control the stock of the black market, I dip my fingers in illegal shit-- but that doesn't mean I'm the bad guy. 'Cuz if that's what makes a bad guy, you'd piss your pants at how many exist within the League."

Good people sometimes do bad things. Call it survival, call it selfishness, call it pride. Whatever the case, Remi didn't consider herself a bad guy, just a guy doing her best to get shit done.

"Y'know, for not liking women, you sure do have a way with words, love."

And with her sickeningly sweet smile.

Shut up, Elliott, they're downright adorable.

Remi squints momentarily at the scrutinizing stare he offers her babies, but says nothing. There are more important matters, like the fact they need to hit the road before the weather worsened and the roads were impossible to navigate safely. Not that it would stop her, she'd still drive like a crazy person.

It's called confidence, sweetie.

Remi does a double-take, however, at Elliott's sudden change in attitude.

"I don't see any other warm bodies around, do you?"

"Hah. Good one."

After a minimal amount of blood, sweat and tears, some idle banter, and laughter, they manage to load the crate onto the back of the truck. The Charizard is still snoring loudly, with smoke trailing from between the bars. It honestly looks quite uncomfortable to be cooped up in such a tiny cage.

Too bad.

Remi only sticks around until the blanket is thrown overtop. Afterward, she immediately heads back around to the front of the truck to hop in the drivers seat. Not that she thought that it was in danger of being stolen from her, but because she has an ego the size of Sootopolis city's Olympic swimming pool.

"Locked n' loaded, love?"

Remi side-eyes him before popping a pair of sunglasses on and coaxing the truck into roaring to life. She gives him half a second to confirm before she kicks it into gear.

Motherhood was awkward and messy. Period. The fact he was holding back laughter only meant she was absolutely crushing it.

Remi glances back at him in his fit of noisy laughter. Thankfully, her Spinda are able to keep the Ivysaur from waking. One raised eyebrow stares back at him and his ever-so-helpful suggestion.

"Oh baby, I'm practiced."

She leans down and hooks a baby Spinda's paw in her hand, easily lifting the bear up and onto her shoulder. The other one continues to hold onto her calf, stepping on her foot and maintaining perfect balance. It even puts its thumb in its mouth and stares back at Elliott cutely.

"Yeah, blankets are up front. They're mostly for us, but if the Bulbasaur are still shivering in like five minutes when we're about to leave, maybe we should cover them up. Just means we might have to cuddle up."

Remi offers him a lopsided smirk, cheeky in its intent. She lifts two Bulbasaur into her armpits, thumb stroking tired, sleepy faces.

As cruel as it seemed to look, the bears tethered to the boat dressed in adorable floaties and playing with an inflated balloon ball were the perfect bait. She was able to sit back, relax, and watch the water for any threatening wild Pokemon, and her adorable baby bears were none the wiser.

Their grunts and groans of laughter and enjoyment kept her relaxed. It wasn't until they shrieked in absolute terror that she glanced over. Some might call her cruel. She called it efficient. It helped that she also had a Dragonair or two below the water as well. They acted as the perfect bodyguards, and when they were out of sight, not even she was agitated.

Yeah, the girl had issues.

"Perfect martini occasion, if I liked them."

Remi glances back lazily to gauge the reaction of her partner for this afternoon.

There were at least three bears out on the water. Each of them had little floaties to help keep them afloat, and they were tethered to the boat that Remi was currently lounging on. Although the weather in Hoenn might have been a bit precarious as of late, the woman was still adorned in a bathing suit and sunglasses.

She only glanced up from time to time to check on the human child on board nearby. To make sure she hadn't fallen into the water or something. While it was reasonable and appropriate to put harnesses and floaties on Pokemon, it felt less so to do the same for an actual human child. It wasn't her kid, after all.

"Yo, Eris. You doin' alright? Don't get too close to the edge of the boat, okay?"
