His penmanship leaves a lot to be desired. Despite being forced to sit at a desk for hours on end as a small child, his skills in hand-writiing weren’t all that noteworthy in the end. Worse than chicken-scratch. Still, he does his best to make this one as legible as possible. His hands are cold but he continues to write out a letter to someone. [break][break]
I want to become a strong trainer more than anything. Have my name known. Maybe even become a gym leader? That’d be cool! I’ve always been told not to aim too high but I was never a very good listener. Oh! I hope this year that I can spend more time with lilith eirwin . Same for my other friends. Like merlyn myers and ollie morales ... and I hope jayden cross is doing well. [break][break]

As Toshiaki enjoys the sights of the festival he wonders briefly, from the involvement of the RANGER AMNESTY program if they were accepting any volunteers. Granted he doesn’t want to spread himself too thin, but he likes to help out however he can. Who knows. Maybe YEAR OF THE DRAGON will grant him luck in his athletic endeavors.[break][break]
As he walks aimlessly around, he wonders if lilith eirwin was perhaps lurking around. He knew she wasn’t the type to go to these events alone, but that didn’t mean he wished to see her any less..[break][break]

He felt like a little kid again playing in the snow. But he didn’t care! Especially since Togekiss was rolling around in the snow (ironic, given she’s still a flying type) and Toshiaki felt obligated to join her. While Bubbe’s snow angels looked a little weird, she was an angel in his eyes nonetheless. [break][break]

It’s been awhile since he’s checked on his berry trees. Being preoccupied getting ready for the VCT tournament and training his Pokemon it completely slipped his mind. However it’s a good thing he came when he did, because a Pokemon is attacking! [break][break]
Immediately he calls out Togekiss, who blinds the intruder with a DAZZLING GLEAM. Once distracted, he tosses a Pokeball at the Wartortle. [break][break]

Eager to start the fight, Toshiaki adjusts the black fingerless gloves on both his hands. A good, steady hand leads to an excellent throw of the Pokeball. Which- fact, is always better for the battle. And so, with gusto, the trainer chucks the Pokeball out onto the field.[break][break]
Arcanine pops out the Pokeball and barks, steps onto the battlefield, just as excited as her trainer to start the match. Toshiaki grins. “Alright. Let’s have an awesome match!”[break][break]

His first Pokémon tournament was turning out to be eventful. It was nothing like the gym challenges he’s faced before in the past. A totally different experience. Currently he takes a small break from all the action with Arcanine, who’s been fighting hard and looking tough. As he finishes brushing up her shiny yellow fur, a trainer approaches them. Toshiaki smiles, failing to read the trainer’s mood and marching their Pokemon’s enthusiasm. “Yeah, dude! We just got back from a small walk. So we’re itchin’ for a battle. Let’s go!”

Though he’s disappointed about the loss, nonetheless Toshiaki is proud of his Arcanine for fighting so hard. She’s come a long way from the goofy little Growlithe he once knew. The Hisuian Pokemon is promptly returned to her pokeball for a well-needed rest.[break][break]
Pocketing the pokeball, he grins his opponent’s way. His spirit isn’t dead yet![break][break]

“Shit!” The backlash from that monstrous speed almost has Toshiaki stumbling from the sheer force alone. Dust clouds obscure his view. But he knew Topaz was still standing strong, but her limits were drawing close. He grits his teeth, feeling the pressure of this match against him.[break][break]
“Oi! Oi! Don’t give up yet! Show em’ your raging fury!” He shouts, hoping his words were heard.[break][break]
Elongated claws dig into the ground to prevent moving as Arcanine’s eyes open wide, focused. RAGING FURY is a last resort type of attack. The remainder of her strength goes into this onslaught of flames and pure raw strength. This time, she wouldn’t stop until she went down or her opponent did.[break][break]

Immediately his playful antics cease when the instructor enters the room and makes herself known. Toshiaki (from prior experience of tutors forced upon him by his father) knows better than to kid around when an instructor enters the room.[break][break]

“Yeah! I like living here. Hoenn’s pretty nice.” When it isn’t too overly chaotic, but Toshiaki likes a little chaos in his life. He’s weird like that. [break][break]
While they sit and chat, Furret happily accepts the abandoned leftovers. She unfurls around Toshiaki’s side and swipes the food clean off the plate, nibbling away at it while stationed on her trainer’s lap. Luckily the crumbs didn’t bother him.[break][break]
“Oh, the space time rifts? Yeah! I’ve been in a few of those before! I met one of my best Pokemon in there.” They had shared interest in space and the cosmos, but Toshiaki was always inclined to athletics over science. He’s not nerd material, anyhow. He grins at Merlyn.[break][break]

It’s easy for him to adapt in highly stressful situations. Dense as he may be, Toshiaki had a knack for battling. A talent, even. Whether it be a natural disaster or the thrill of a heated battle, he’s ready. While he made sure to go through with endurance training with his beloved Arcanine, Pokemon were not gods. They are mortals with limits. But would she be able to push beyond them with hardwork and determination alone? Only time would tell.[break][break]
Glaring something fierce, like a volcano ready to erupt Arcanine howls- loud enough to make Toshiaki cover his ears, though he grins the entire time. Fire builds up in her lungs, reaches its breaking point, and unleashes as a FLAMETHROWER(with the intensity of a laser beam) locks on after the speedy Zeraora. They aren’t here to play around![break][break]

“Yeah! Lots of people call me Toshi, go for it!” The young man grins. Arcanine makes her way to the battlefield while Toshiaki psyches himself up for the match. In, out, his fingers flex against his combat gloves as he lets out a deep breath. Here he’s allowed to shine, no longer forced to hide in the shadows as he had in old regions prior.[break][break]
He’d be a fool not to capitalize on this chance, to make his name known throughout all of Hoenn.[break][break]
“Osu! Let’s hit em’ hard and give em' a show, Topaz!”[break][break]
Within seconds of the match starting, Arcanine gleams with Terastal energy and what seems to be electricity. Pikachu kicks at her side with more power than she anticipated. Though, her recovery is quick. Opening its maw wide, sharp fangs glisten as she moves to CRUNCH onto the electric rodent.[break][break]

His opponent wastes no time in starting the grand bout. A blinding DAZZLING GLEAM lights up the field, enough to make him shield his own gold eyes. But if you look closely, he is caught grinning the entire time. Topaz the Arcanine feels her trainer’s energy and while it’s difficult to get a clear picture of the tricky Sylveon, through limited vision she tries.[break][break]
Charged with the energy from the Tera Orb, sparks of electricity fly off the sturdy fire type. Distance isn’t an issue when sparks zig-zag in all directions, and she WILD CHARGE’s forward in an attempt to collide with the fairy type.[break][break]
