Hisuian Arcanine’s paws leave deep impressions next to him as she practically vibrates with excitement for the next match-up. Topaz is his rough and tough Pokemon, after all. The Vital City Tournament is a blood-pumping event that’s for certain. It felt very similar to the intense competitive spirit that the Galar region is infamous for. A trait Toshiaki embodies deeply. Toshiaki grins, gloved hand on his Hisuian Arcanine’s back as it swiftly makes her way onto the battlefield. [break][break]
“Yo!” The white-haired trainer shouts back, waving back with infectious energy. “The name’s Toshiaki! And one day I’m gonna be the strongest trainer in Hoenn. So let’s have an awesome match!”[break][break]

Hisuian Arcanine was starting to feel the damage from the well-calculated hits. And in one fellow swoop it’s struck from the bottom in a lightning fast attack, sent flying into the air. High stakes, huh? Detaching Topaz’s pokeball off his belt, the device began glowing with terastallized power! [break][break]
“Go, Topaz! You ain’t done yet. Terastallize!”[break][break]
In that instance the electricity coats the Pokemon’s unique yellow mane. The static in the area is enough to make his hair stand. Snarling, Arcanine plans to land with a WILD CHARGE, taking down anything down beneath it. [break][break]

All at once a rush of cold against warmth burns at his skin. Not unpleasant, although it’s an unfamiliar tingle. One that sends a strange, fuzzy feeling to his gut. Almost as if a swarm of BUTTERFREE were flying around in there. As they stroll mindlessly on the ice at a snail’s pace, Toshiaki cannot help but reminisce at how far they’ve come. Before Lilith couldn’t stand any kind of touch from him. Let alone be dragged out into the world. Now they’re holding hands in a public space for all to see.[break][break]
Chatter from the other pairs fills the space as he gently squeezes onto her palm. One thing he notices is that it’s much smaller than his- instantaneously solidifying his feelings in always wanting to protect her.[break][break]
“This.. is nice.” [break][break]
He says with a growing smile, cheeks glowing a subtle pink from the cold winds. Sweet as the moment is, he can’t help but laugh at the Pokemon who struggles on the ice.[break][break]
“Oi. Careful, don’t fall!”[break][break]

Nothing is ever easy. If it was then life wouldn’t be as half as interesting as Toshiaki believes it to be. His goal to gain infamy in the Hoenn region still stands strong, even if Josh currently stands in his way. They’ll simply just have to blast right past them! [break][break]
"You got this Topaz! Hit em' with all you got!" Topaz’s senses are on high alert even as the Pokemon before her disappears from thin air. As a precaution, baring her fangs Arcanine instinctively coats itself in a coat of flames. FLARE BLITZ. The heat being so intense it can be felt between both trainers at opposite sides of the field.[break][break]
Should the Zeraora show itself, if fast enough, Arcanine will attempt to CRUNCH onto it's form.

It’s almost as if the road itself shakes. One minute he’s riding down peacefully, the next it’s pure chaos. Toshiaki manages to get his bike off the road relatively injury-free. Scrapes and cuts weren’t an issue to him. Watching the CYCLIZAR drive past as if they were playing a round of MARIO KART, Toshiaki knew he had to stop this somehow.[break][break]
He sends out Bubbe the Togekiss, who sends out a DAZZLING GLEAM to blind the erratic Pokemon cyclists. [break][break]
And just maybe, he’ll catch one as a little reward for keeping the peace.[break][break]

There’s something about Tournaments that gets the blood pumping. Whether it’s for the athleticism he’s known for, or allowing his pokemon a chance in the esteemed spotlight Toshiaki is always ready for a challenge. Approaching the battlefield Toshiaki cracks his knuckles in preparation. While the Arcanine next to him, Topaz, hops in place, eager to get started (or maybe she’s happy to see Josh after so long!)[break][break]

Zorua prancing around on the ice and the overall atmosphere of the skating rink only adds to his holiday spirit. There’s no way he’d give up now! Not to mention receiving praise from Lilith always puts him in a happy, fuzzy mood he can’t quite put into words. Balancing atop the ice wasn’t too difficult. His muscle memory from years ago was still very much intact. Other than that, however, he is heavily inexperienced in this sport. [break][break]
“Nice try, Lils. You can’t change my mind that easily. We’re doing this!”[break][break]
Carefully, Toshiaki allows himself to slowly slide forward, soon stationed right by her side. As if stuck in contemplation he takes repeated quick glances between her and the scratchy slab of ice that keeps him balanced. One wrong move and he’ll fall right onto his bum. Ouch.[break][break]
Well he doesn’t want that..[break][break]
He looks towards Lilith, smiling as he outreaches his gloved palm. “Actually, can you maybe hold my hand?”

All at once nostalgia comes in crashing waves, same as the feeling of euphoria that casts over him. During his time back in Galar he struggled to make friends. A boy ignorant of the vast world around him, trapped in the vice grip of solitude. But he happened to meet just one person while on his journey of self-discovery there, and that person was none other than Merlyn himself. He was a few years older than him, sure, but that hardly impacted their friendship. Not even distance broke it.[break][break]
Happy as a Shellder, Toshiaki accepts the hug, doing his best not to put all his strength into it (he’s a spine-breaker when it comes to heartfelt embraces.) Furret climbs onto his back and peeks over his trainer’s shoulder, still very much wanting that half-eaten sandwich.[break][break]
“Me? I live here!” He says, grinning ear-to-ear as he takes a seat next to him, unprompted. “I have for nearly two years now? I’m taking the gym challenge and doing my athlete training here.” A finger scratches underneath Furret's chin, appeasing her ravenous appetite for now. “What about you!”
