The two of them viewed those godlike beings through completely different lenses, the former revering them, while the latter feared them. “Are you saying Rocket could hurt me or that Pon could hurt me?” Her question caused Ogerpon to shift uncomfortably.

Noticing that reaction, the young woman knelt down, wrapping her arms protectively around the facial mask-wearing ogre. “How can you think of her that way after what she went through? She was a prisoner just like us. It’s not her fault she was Toxic Chained!”

Referencing the events that had transpired in that penitentiary of prism reminded Andrea that she wasn’t the only one to have formed a bond with a cute green Pokémon. “A-are you worried about Celebi too?” The eccentric girl asked in a rare display of intuition.

Urshifu’s second blow finished the job. The humongous Ultra Beast toppled over with a resounding, earthshaking thud. No longer having its loud screaming blasting into her ears allowed Andrea to actually listen to Kouji’s words.

Forget what she preached? Forget her principles? Stop being a freak? She did not want that. Becoming someone she despised was a fate even worse than losing her treasured partner. She could not allow bitterness and spite to consume her. Father Winter had shown her what would happen if she did.

“Go away. I hate you.” Was the only response the girl could muster. Being able to give good advice did not absolve Kouji Matsubara of his sin. He had stolen a piece of her soul that could never be mended, leaving her hollow.

“Pon…” Cried Ogerpon, sensing its caretaker’s despondency. The green-clad ogre did the one thing it could to console her in her darkest hour, hugging the woman’s legs. Perhaps it, too, understood the pain of losing a friend.

Hoenn was never generous enough to give people time to process their grief. A second, more fearful earthquake would strike imminently. This story, this tragedy, was far from over.

That was enough wakeboarding for the day. Andrea’s hands felt numb. Upon making it ashore, the young woman fully unzipped her wetsuit, letting the top half hang loosely around her waist like a Scrafty’s skin. As previously stated, she was wearing a bikini underneath.

Whiskers, despite her species being classified as the Atrocious Pokémon, was anything but. The scarlet sea serpent responded positively to Shalin’s gentle pets, letting out a deep, guttural sound that may have been the draconic equivalent of purring.

“I think I’ll pass.” The dragon fanatic politely turned down the offer to ride on Prower the Floatzel. “I’m kinda wiped out. I might hit the spa with Yuina later.” She said.

Could Josh even choose whether he wanted to become an avatar, or was it preordained by fate? With the way the people of Ecruteak revered his legendary mount--unaware that this Raikou was merely a construct of ash--it was as if he already was one.

The streets were quickly overcrowded, as news of Raikou’s return spread by word of mouth. Andrea was forced to withdraw her Gyarados and walk on foot. “Stay close to me, Pon.” The young woman said, taking hold of Ogerpon’s long sleeve.

“Mommy, Mommy, look! It’s Raikou!” A little boy pointed excitedly. “I wanna pet it!”

So much attention could be overwhelming for anyone. Andrea turned to the beast rider with a worried look. “You think these people are gonna let us get to the tower?” She whispered to him.

BRAVE in the face of overwhelming odds, the flamboyant cosplayer activated her Sygna Suit. Infinity Energy flowed to her vocal cords, allowing her to roar like a dragon. “RAWR! Let’s show them what we’ve got!”

Inspired by the girl’s Dragon Cheer, Chomper fired a powerful Draco Meteor from his middle mouth, while Pon made a Frenzy Plant sprout from the ground, lashing at the enemy with its gigantic roots.

Nomi’s suggestion of taking the fight outside of Hoenn gave the eccentric trainer an idea. “Elsewhere, huh? What if we asked illeana reyes to help? Palkia can open a portal to any dimension they want, like they did back in Ultra Megalopolis.”

She had recently proposed the same thing to THEO BECKETT with less than stellar results. Hopefully Team Rocket did not harbor a collective grudge against the Alchemist.

Wistfully watching the kinship between the Oni and the floating letter gave Andrea a second idea. “What about the Unown? Wherever there’s Unown, the DRK Triad is usually not far behind. Maybe that’s the way we find them. Can Unown sense each other?” She asked.

“T-this is bad! If they see her, then…” Andrea assisted Eris in trying to cover Ogerpon’s face with the jacket. She opted not to comment on the younger girl’s scars. It would likely be a touchy subject, especially if those scars had been caused by Josh Devlin’s hand.

Despite their honest efforts, the festival-goers perceived the loathsome ogre and ousted it from the village as the script demanded. This caused the real Ogerpon a significant amount of distress, followed by anger.

“GRAH! PON! PON!”

She lashed out, Power Whipping the NPCs until their bodies dispersed into floating bits of data, ‘killing’ a great number of them. If those people were intent on treating her like a devil, then a devil she would become.

“STOP!!” Andrea’s gut-wrenching plea brought the simulated slaughter to a halt, the woman kneeling down and hugging Pon tightly. “You don’t have to do this! There are humans out there who love you… I love you.”

As the ogress hugged her caretaker back, sobbing into her chest, the Teal Mask--which lay on the ground--glitched out. Soon, it would disappear along with the simulation, but one day it could become real through the miracle-realizing power of Tera Crystals.

The GRUDGES planted long ago in her subconscious by Elisabeth Fiorelli’s ruinous patron were ready to bloom. Her numerous attempts to befriend various Rockets had amounted to nothing. None of them had ever wanted her friendship, least of all Kouji Matsubara.

“YOU THINK I’M JUST GONNA LET YOU LEAVE AFTER WHAT YOU JUST DID?!” The girl snarled like a rabid animal, losing sight of her original mission of protecting the civilians. She wanted vengeance. And she would exact it on Kouji’s allies first.

Those Kantonian Rockets were renowned for their cruelty, but were too cocky for their own good if they thought they could recreate their victory in Kanto. Kanto was normal. They knew naught of the abnormal horrors of Hoenn. One of them was standing before them.

“AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

The screaming, gluttonous Ultra Beast threw a Stomping Tantrum, causing violent tremors and even fissures in the ground, threatening the lives of many unprepared grunts. Like an anti-hero, Kouji’s Urshifu swooped in to stop the alien monstrosity, landing a super-effective blow.

An enraged Ogerpon entered the fray, aiming a powerful dropkick at the ursine warrior’s chest. The Oni did not care for the nuance behind his warning. That Pokémon’s trainer had made Andrea sad, so he deserved to be punished.

Andrea Vaneau's curry entry

thread summary: On one of her visits to Area Zero, Andrea runs into Kouji Matsubara, who claims everything in the vicinity in the name of Rocket. They have a brief scuffle with their dragons, before the appearance of a wild Scream Tail forces them to work together in order to survive.[break]

why is it important?: This thread showcases how surprisingly similar Andrea and Kouji are. From using similar Pokemon, to their immaturity and their banter. In another world, they could have been friends, and they almost do befriend each other by the end of this thread. Overall, it felt like a lighthearted adventure straight out of the Pokemon anime, with many comedic bits thrown in for good measure. This works as a contrast to what the future holds for these characters. Kouji's plan to challenge Andrea's Gym will never come to fruition, for the next time the two meet, it will have tragic results.

I knew Joker from an older forum, so getting to write with him again was an absolute blast! He's a great writer and I highly recommend threading with him if you haven't already. I'm looking forward to seeing how the dynamic of those two characters develops, especially after The First Wave.
