SPACE-TIME DISTORTION #1

Now Hailee wasn't a stranger to strange shit going down in Hoenn. Just about everyone that lived here knew better in that department. But despite being well accustomed to seeing downright peculiar stuff on the daily, there was absolutely no way Hailee could've been prepared for this.

Out on a patrol she and her Lilligant came across an odd sight. Why, the weather had been perfectly clear yet a moment ago but the moment she approach this suspicious looking dark dome the skies clouded and thunder rumbled. Her Lilligant got nervous and clung to her as Hailee tried to reassure her that everything would be okay.

She might have gone on about her business had she not spied one or two brave (or idiotic, take your pick) souls venture into the unknown. Right into danger for all she could know. This darkened dome was an anomaly, something that was not meant to be here. But as a Ranger it was her job to make sure people stayed safe.

"Ain't this some bullshit..." she muttered to herself. She would've preferred to distance herself from all of this. She wasn't very well equipped to handle the unknown. "Well, we have to." she said as she looked down at her Lilligant. Saria seemed to take a moment to muster up the courage before nodding and stepping into the distortion with her trainer.

As soon as they enter they're attacked by wild and aggressive pokémon. "Shit!" Hailee says as she and Saria dodge out of the way. Just as Hailee was about to give her orders she realized a strange light take over Saria before her form changed. "S-Saria?" the Lilligant seemed just as confused as she looked at herself.

This was an entirely different form than what they were used to. "What?" Hailee said before the pokémon around them prepared for their next move, not willing to give them the chance to catch up on the situation. "We'll talk about how adorable you look later, let's deal with this first." Hailee said to Saria who nodded in agreement.

Fight first. Ask questions later.

"You look lovely yourself, Hailee. Guess they brought us blondes in to liven up the party, huh?" Atlas said as a soft flush colored his cheeks. "As they should." she said with a confident yet playful smirk. With a flick of her wrists a piece of her blonde locks were between her fingers. "You know what they say, blondes have more fun anyway." she said with a wink. [break][break]

Rex interjected with a happy bark that pulled Hailee's gaze from his trainer. "See, Rex agrees." Hailee said with a giggle. "So what do you like to do on your free time? And who's your little friend there?" Atlas asked as he gestured towards Raijin. Glancing down to where the squirrel pokémon laid snuggled against her breast. [break][break]

Smiling, she reached down and pinched his cheeks, tugging on them gently. "This suddenly shy baby is Raijin. He's normally more social but I think he's pouting because I won't give him any more sweets." She says with a soft chuckle before releasing Raijin's cheeks. He huffs defiantly but still remains seated on her lap. [break][break]

"As for what I do in my free time you must mean besides this." she said before quickly adding on. "Looking this good I mean not the speed dating part." She smiled. "I like to make clothes." she said with a proud smile as she gestured to her outfit. "Currently attending Slateport U's Art and Design school for it to be exact." she said before she turned her bright gaze to him. "What about you?"

The head of a cute Espeon poked up and caused Hailee’s grin to grow wider. "I don't really have any treats on me at the moment, but I'll be sure to make some for you next time we meet!" Raijin quickly perked up and turned to look at her, practically begging her with her eyes to accept. [break][break]

Hailee laughed again before turning her gaze back to Lis, who was busy scratching away on the notepad. "If you'd like to meet up again sometime, that is..." she said with a slight blush as she pushed the paper with her phone number over to her. [break][break]

“Of course. Raijin here would have a fit if he couldn’t try some of your treats.” Hailee purred as her eyes twinkled mischievously once more, “Besides, I wouldn’t mind getting to see your pretty face once more.” [break][break]

No sooner had she said that did the bell ring signaling that their time together had come to an end. “Aw, over already?” Hailee said with a pout. “I wouldn’t have minded chatting with you a while longer.” she said as she turned her gaze back to Lis. [break][break]

“This was fun,” she said with a wide grin as she rose from her seat. Hailee tapped a nail to the paper with Lis’ number. “I’ll be sure to hit you up later. I’ll be looking forward to our next date.” she said with a wink as both her and her Emolga waved goodbye to the pair.

"I uhm- I design stuff." Lis answers, "Decorations for cakes and sweets and all. I mean, I bake in my free time but that's also kind of my job and well..." At the mention of sweets Raijin poked his head out from below the table before climbing on top of Hailee’s lap. [break][break]

Hailee chuckled before sitting back a bit to allow him a better view of his target of focus. Lis’ cheeks flushed before she quickly retreated to her tea cup. "I like reading too, all kinds of genres. But mostly romance and adventures..."[break][break]

Hailee smiled. “Nothing wrong with baking and certainly nothing wrong with reading. I enjoy a good romance myself.” she said as her eyes twinkled while looking at her. “Emmoo” Raijin spoke up from her lap. “And this one adores sweets. Seems like you have a little fan already.” she said with a giggle.

The pace was starting to pick up now, at least it seemed that way to Hailee. She was still a little shaken up from her last encounter with Ceri Glynn but it wouldn’t take her long to get back to usual. A quick pat on the cheeks and she was ready to go. [break][break]

The blonde quickly made her way to the table, stopping Raijin from scooping up more sweets since he had snacked enough. It looked like she was the first to arrive. That was a good change for once, she could get settled in nicely before her partner arrived. [break][break]

“Come here Jin-Jin. You’re so energetic today.” she said as she sat him on her lap. It was true, maybe it was the sweets or the fact that he had just seen Ceri for the first time after years. Still, she needed him to relax and be on his best behavior for the rest of her time here.

“Thank you.” she says as she takes the apple from Jin-Jin who quickly chirps happily, pleased that the offering was accepted. He made his way back to Hailee’s arms soon after and nuzzled into her. Ceri didn’t say anything more on the subject which was understandable. But Hailee couldn’t let this opportunity pass her by, she’d regret it. [break][break]

Just as things seemed to normalize between the two there time was up. The bell rang and interrupted their conversation which caused Hailee to ruffle her hair in frustration. She’d just come to terms with everything and now…[break][break]

“We should hang out sometime to catch up properly. If you want, that is… It was good to see you, Hailee.” Ceri said as she got up from the table to leave. Her smile was bright and it seemed genuine.[break][break]

She paused for a moment more before offering her a bright smile of her own, “Sure thing. You know where you can find me.” she said with a smirk, “...Take care, ladybug.” Hailee said as she referred to her by the name she’d given her way back. Just one last time. She wouldn’t ever really have proper closure, that she was sure. So she needed to take what she could get. With this, she could finally say she moved on.

"O- oh, uhm... I'm Amaryllis, but you can just call me Lis!" she said swiftly as she gingerly took hold of Hailee’s extended hand. Carefully trained orbs seemed to have a mischievous glint to them as she silently assessed the flustered woman before her. [break][break]

“Lis.” she repeated with a smirk, “Has a nice ring to it, I like it” she complimented her before she adjusted the bow on the front of her top. "You look nice too! I mean, your outfit is really cute... Do you like fashion, or anything?"[break][break]

Hailee couldn’t help the way she perked up at that sentence as a smug grin briefly passed over her features. “I love it. I actually go to school for it.” she said as she picked up her own cup of tea. “There’s something about putting together an ensemble that I fell in love with. Now I can’t get enough.” she chuckled. Hailee couldn’t complain too much about the gigs she’d been booking lately. Doing all of this on her own without the proper use of her family name made things take a little longer but if it meant that the credit would lie solely with her she’d take it. [break][break]

Ceri’s gaze softened once she looked at Raijin. She wasn’t even sure if she noticed it herself, but Hailee did. She didn’t say anything, just studied her features for a while longer. Hailee hated to admit it but it really was good to see her again. [break][break]

If anything, at least it gave her peace of mind that Ceri was alright. [break][break]

“Hi Raijin.” She greeted the emolga softly, who nudged her hand with the apple slice to prompt her to take the peace offering. “I missed him too.” she added and Hailee gave Jin-Jin a smile of approval. [break][break]

Ceri’s eyes met Hailee’s once more before she continued, "And you.” she added after a brief pause. Hailee sighed, finally giving in and giving up on being so abrasive around her. It'd been years and quite frankly she’d rather not have to add one more unhealthy dosage of bitterness to her already full plate. [break][break]

She offered Ceri a small knowing smile. “I---” she breathed before she chuckled softly, “Let’s be honest, you know I’ve missed you too.” she said before gently picking at her manicured nails, “And…for what its worth, I’m really sorry about your mom.” it needed to be said. [break][break]

If she had the chance she would’ve been there for Ceri in a heartbeat. She had to have known that. But yet Hailee couldn’t bring herself to utter the words. It was all in the past now and Ceri had to live the worst part of her life alone.

Hailee could only respond with a passive shrug at Ceri’s initial response. It was a knee-jerk reaction. She’d already said it, nothing more could be done about the fact now. After the initial surprise Hailee began to acclimate to having Ceri around her yet again. [break][break]

Odd, to say the least, but she could adjust. Raijin on the other hand looked conflicted. Both knowing extensively how much pain Ceri’s leaving had caused her but also still be fond of Ceri herself. [break][break]

Hailee didn’t fault him, this was all a lot to handle all at once. “I've been alright.” she answered as burgundy orbs followed her as Ceri took her seat across from her. Hailee nodded slowly. It's not that she didn’t understand why she did it. That’s why this was all the more awkward for her. [break][break]

"How about you? What are you up to these days?" Gently stirring the ice in her water she offered a slight shrug as a small smirk appeared on her lips. “Oh you know, the usual. School and design. Design and school.” she said before taking a sip. “Oh and a little professional posing too.” she said as she briefly mentioned her modeling gig. [break][break]

Finally managing to muster up some courage since it seemed his master was able to hold a conversation, Raijin hopped out of her arms to sheepishly share an apple slice with Ceri just like he used to all those years ago. Still a sign that he cared about her deeply since he rarely shared his treats with anyone. [break][break]

“He missed you.” she said softly as she looked at Raijin fondly.
