EXPOSITION

PETALBURG WOODS — a space-time distortion has descended here, bringing thunder and lightning and darkened skies. As you approach this dome of crackling energy, you can feel the world being unstable all around you. Traversal through the purplish membrane of this realm is seamless and yet, the world contained within is wholly different than what is outside.[break][break]

Highly aggressive Pokemon appear out of nowhere, as if teleported from an entirely different plane. Some of these Pokemon are of species never before seen.[break][break]

Furthermore, the passage of time seems to flow differently here. The physical space before you glitches and fidgets too, occasionally forcing you to your knees.[break][break]

Eventually, the space-time distortion fades, leaving no sign of it having been here.

HOW TO:

TO PARTICIPATE IN A SPACE-TIME DISTORTION, your character must make an IC-post of them entering the realm. Each of your characters can participate.[break][break]

However, your characters only have a limited amount of time to take advantage of the space-time distortion's peculiarities. Using items from the SITE SHOP that you have purchased or have earned, you can perform the following limited actions:[break][break]

Catch**/evolve/form change to Hisui (ONE TIME)[break]
requires: form change or evolution item.
Learn PLA-exclusive moves (TWO TIMES)[break]
requires: move items.
Age your character.

**Feel free to reflavor/reskin past Pokémon you have caught to be Hisuian versions caught during this Space-time Distortion. Furthermore, should you want your Pokémon to undergo an "IC" form change, you can explain the metamorphoses by the dimensional instability.[break][break]

Furthermore, please note in your post which Pokémon you are "catching/evolving/form changing", what moves you are learning, and more. If you are aging your character, please note to what age. Lastly, you DO NOT NEED TO POST IN THE SITE SHOP unless you are purchasing a required item.[break][break]

If you are form changing a Pokemon into a Hisuian form, feel free to change moves that they would not be able to have to their equivalents (e.g. level up moves to level up moves / egg moves to move tutor moves because there are no egg tutor moves in PLA) free of charge.

he doesn't have the jurisdiction to stop people from venturing in into the curious area since he's off hours, but he couldn't be blaming them for mindlessly charging in into the area of unknown dangers. curiosity was a hell of a drug, much moreso greed of people.

these are probably the same people who talk trash about the league, and are basically the same people who could apply to that bike riding meme who crashed their bikes themselves. fortune favors the bold though, so they likely won't be facing any backlash for their reckless behavior.

"i'm checking this one out," he says on his phone, notifying officials of what was inside, before going in.

he goes in with his growlithe for protection. numerous wild pokemon appear from nowhere, akin to the slateport invasion years ago, but much more tolerable since these were wild pokemon and not actual humans. he creeps in, disturbed only by the fizzling distortion he could hear behind him.

slowly, the growlithe he has mutates to another form. it bewilders him, but considering this was hoenn, this was a much more acceptable result than the pokemon straight up dying. as the last few changes happen, kyle takes out his phone and snaps a picture.

"wait, i'm sending a pic of you back to hq," he tells his growlithe, who he commands to stay with a hand gesture. "why are you so cute now? what the fuck?"

Remiel Calcifet could hardly fathom the sight.

The PETALBURG WOODS had been a favorite place of his to train his dragons. As it so happened, he'd brought ATVARAS the GOODRA to practice utilizing his gooeyness in battle this day.

Not but a mere twenty minutes into their warm-up, however, were they enveloped in a strange storm as they sky was placed under a dark filter. A SPACE-TIME DISTORTION had devoured the woodland.

Recognizing plant life and glimpses of Pokémon he'd only ever seen in history books and fossils, the former archaeologist awed at this surroundings. But, just as he completed a full turn, a giant URSALUNA angered by the disturbance came roaring out from the bushes.

Atvaras was swift to intercept the large set of claws (SLASH) meant for his master. And, though the attack rendered it into a puddle, it managed to buy the two some time as the bear struggled with the GOOEY substance coating its fur now.

An abandoned shell was noticed shortly thereafter, and Atvaras felt an ANCIENT INSTINCTUAL NEED to fill it. What followed was an amazing transformation (HISUIAN GOODRA) as it rose from the ground with the shell upon its back, taking SHELTER within it when the Ursaluna charged with a HEADLONG RUSH.

Remiel was forced to dive out of the way as his shelthered Hisuian Goodra was sent flying. Popping out of its shell in mid-air, it fired a powerful STEEL BEAM at the beast before landing. Then, finding the area far too volatile for their liking without proper preparation or support, the pair made a swift escape.

when news of such areas popped up, priam wouldn't take any excuse not to venture in. hnn mentioned of it being highly dangerous, but he knew that just meant there's interesting stuff inside.

it's just a little peek; he's not going to get himself dying inside!

without anyone to reprimand him for ignoring the public service announcements, priam heads into the dome of time-space distortion. he expects something magical, similar to that of the tree on sootopolis, but instead finds the opposite within.

the atmosphere was not the friendliest. storms overhead was unbearable, alongside space around him being unstable. he couldn't even take one step forward for him to be interrupted by a pokemon suddenly appearing in front of him.

"shit!"

he takes out a pokeball to defend himself from it, as priam inches away slowly towards the direction he came from. a look around was all he needs to make a conclusion that there wasn't a safe space inside the zone.

Once more a strange occurrence in Hoenn has caught the eyes of their citizens, another unexplained anomaly that captivated and instilled curiosity. “Can’t believe I'm just walking into this thing.” Yet, this was his job as a Beast of Team Rocket, to be the pathfinder and willingly walk into danger for the sake of their organization. Perhaps there was something valuable to be gained, to which he couldn’t resist.

Phione was already ahead of him, leaping into the distorted dome and forcing Rowan to follow soon after. Inside the anomaly, he could feel the strings of reality unraveling around him, chronologic energies nearly forcing him to his knees. “What the fuck…”

Ahead, Phione seemed to be going through a transformation of their own, becoming instilled with new and unknown energies that afforded them otherwise unattainable power. The same aura radiated from one of his Pokéballs, the one containing his Basculin.

On the outside once more, Rowan unleashed the aquatic Pokémon, only to find their form had become distorted and evolved, a new species entirely. What more power was to be gained from these distortions?

Bryan had heard mysterious rumors of something called a "space-time" distortion. He had brought along his faithful liligant here. Apparently there were rare treasures to be had there and Bryan was someone who could be defined by as the word greedy, he wanted it all. He wanted it all to himself. So he entered the time space distortion and didn't look back, the terrain stretched and shifted and he felt nausea. [break][break]

he released his liligant and she tried to help him up but something strange began to happen to her as she started to glow, oh lord did bryan kill her? No wait, she was changing. What the hell? "You have feet now?" he said curiously as Liligant looked at herself bewildered that she did in fact have feet now. She tried testing them out and she jumped into the air after a dazzling spin and destroyed a boulder with relative easy "HOLY SHIT. LILI!" he said as he finally had a pokemon that fit him as his starter. "Now I can finally show you how close combat works! oh shit this is amazing!" he says eagerly as she learns a new move called victory dance. [break][break]

Tall, blonde, and handsome stopped in his tracks when his ear twitched. His upper lip curled into a growl as he shifted his eyes about. Then a rustle of leaves draws his attention upward before—

SLICE!

If the deadly mantis (KLEAVOR) had chosen to slice off the doppelganger's head, then the ZORUA within that illusion might have lived since it was really so short. But from that trajectory, with that much momentum behind it as it fell from above, it had chosen to slice the copy vertically in half. And the pup stood no chance.

"DIANE!"

Atlas cries from atop his STANTLER, having just regrouped in time to see the assassination transpire. They'd come in here to investigate only ten minutes ago, searching for an old woman who'd been lost while she was out picking mushrooms. But for it to lead to this...

His mount feeds off the raw emotion and rage that follows. With an aggressive chorus of bellows, the Stantler charges forward down the hill as Atlas spurs it on. An ANCIENT AND MYSTERIOUS POWER surrounds them mid-gallop, until it forms a powerful psychic shield in front of them (PSYSHIELD BASH). Even the monster's STONE AXE cannot help to break it as it is trampled.

Despite the victory, the amateur detective wipes away tears with his arm as they sprint for the borders of the distortion. Before long, however, he notices a presence clinging to the back of his shoulder:

"... D-Diane?"

It is, indeed, his fallen Zorua, now a spirit (HISUIAN ZORUA) filled with BITTER MALICE for having been killed. But she knew it wasn't his fault...right?

Melody had been exploring the new space time distortion in petalburg and help out those caught up in it. It was part of her new Aqua duties, she had no problem as it was rather exciting exploring these new areas. She had her baby Phione with her stuck on it's baby carrier as she was still hesitant to let it off. [break][break]

She ran around not even noticing that the dewott in her pokeball evolved into a new form as Hisuian Samurott and on top of that her phione manifested a new power as the move named "take heart" It sounds ominous at first but it's actually just phione becoming a little braver than before.

That much becomes clear the first time he encounters one.

He knows the dangers, but be it thanks to his pride, curiosity, or greed, Mars steps forward – an Unown being called to his side in case of anything. If there’s any pokémon that should interact well with this sort of thing, surely it would be Unown, no?

Of course, he regrets his choice as soon as steps through the iridescent membrane.

Static crackles in the air, the sound of it soon drowned out by a loud cry. Mars recognizes it, but he doesn’t realise from where until turning towards the direction it came from… There, he sees no other than the same strange pokémon that had attacked him in the bamboo forest within the Tree of Life. The same bloodthirsty creature that had injured many and even killed a few pokémon. ”Shit!” This time, he doesn’t have his Gardevoir to TELEPORT him away from danger, but the Unown does respond with its HIDDEN POWER...

What had once been solely dark power now is as if a beam of water, and Mars finds himself so taken aback by this that he forgets one important fact: he’s supposed to be running.

Once the Kleavor gets past the Unown, there’s little time to escape (although Mars sure doesn’t know it’s a Kleavor), but it’s then that jet black wing slice through its body with Psychic power. Like a PSYCHO CUT, but not quite. ESPER WING.

It’s a mesmerising sight, especially with how it fends off the axe-bearing assassin with power and might. But, what kind of pokémon is it? It’s nothing Mars has ever seen before.

"Sancte Jirachi Archangele, defende nos in proelio; contra nequitiam et insidias diaboli esto praesidium," The bishop recites in prayer as he holds up a rosary. Standing at what he believes to be the center of the distortion, he is buffeted by strong winds as the storm continues to rage. "Imperet illi Archeus, supplices deprecamur: tuque, Princeps militiae caelestis, in virtute Dei—"

Unfortunately, his session is interrupted by a colony of GASTLY that seem to be aggravated by the sound of his chanting. His GROWLITHE, SUSANNAH, keeps them at bay with raucous barking. When one draws a little too close for comfort, she pounces at it with a CRUNCH.

As the prayer comes to an end, a STRANGE AND ANCIENT POWER dwelling within this distortion seems to fill itself within the pup. And, just as the situation begins to look even more dire, a wondrous transformation takes place. Susannah finds her armored in its wake (HISUIAN GROWLITHE) and uses this newfound power to break to fight the Gastly off.

✞ Benicio enters the distortion to try and dispel it with prayer, then is attacked by GASTLY
◓ Susannah the GROWLITHE inherits a new forme (HISUIAN GROWLITHE) to protect the bishop, as if blessed by the Almighty itself

The authorities had encouraged the populace to stay away from the reported ‘Dangerous Distortions’ and the mysteries cocooned within. Warning of the risks one might face when locked within its thunderous bubble, your fate uncertain.

So, naturally, Angelo had to seek one out.

Helpless under the pull of wanderlust and greed, as soon as a crackling, midnight coloured smudge appears in the corner of his eye, Angelo makes an impulsive change of course.

He'd been curious to see for himself what secrets these fleeting rifts held, ever since catching their whispers. Drunken, tall tales shared in bars reminded Angelo of the shifting Mirage Islands he frequently surveyed over the Hoennian seas.

Perhaps, he wonders, they're related?

Well, there's only one way to find out. And that's by brazenly venturing beyond the veil.

For a time, everything is eerily quiet, save for the crackling of static that runs along the dome surface. Angelo stalks around the perimeter first, eyes sharp and curious, beneath the phantom glow of his Charizard's tail.

It's when they dare to venture closer to the centre, that whatever calls this realm home makes its grand arrival.

With a crushing battlecry, something launches itself from the sky, like an ancient booby trap had been sprung.

“Fuck! Shrike, move!” He barks, lunging out of the way just in time as feathers, aglow with blue energy, explodes into the grass.

Their attacker looms overhead, burning cyan eyes cast of flames pierce minds, its lustre illuminated on an obsidian canvas of feathers.

It was lord of the skies here.

Angelo wanted to catch it.

Calloused fingers reach for a pokéball, expression pinching into an undaunted, resolute grin. “I've never seen you before.”

It seems the sentiment is shared by the Charizard at his side, Shrike letting out a puff of smoke from her nostrils in defiance, canines flashing in revelry of the challenge issued.

Within the darkened, stormy skies, two explosive plumes of burning blue flames collide…

Another day, another reality-altering distortion touching down close to where Hideo was that day. There were many warnings telling people to evacuate and leave this to the professionals, and Hideo listened to exactly none of them. And while he couldn’t appreciate the visual absurdity of the situation, the chance at finding something rare was very tempting.

Though what he found were a lot of aggressive Pokemon. Like, wow: they did not hesitate to attack first and ask questions later. Hideo’s Arcanine was able to fend them off, but it was almost like they were appearing out of nowhere. He didn’t even have enough time to toss a Pokeball before he had to get out of the way of the next assault.

After the twelfth or so Eeveelution, it was time to cut their losses and get out. Hideo took a seat atop his Arcanine, who proceeded to rush her way out of the distortion. Though slowly, Hideo noticed something off about her: she felt a lot rougher now. Not on her fur, but her skin felt tougher somehow.

“You feeling alright, Floofer?” he asked, unaware that his Arcanine now looked much different from before. An affectionate *yip* was enough to convince him it really was her, but he was gonna have to get a closer look at her once he was in safety.

[attr="class","illie i"]every fiber in her being says go toward this massive rift.

the rational side says it's too dangerous, too unstable... there's many things that could go wrong. and yet, that insatiable urge to seek what she wants always wins out in the end.

she thinks of palkia as she enters, of dialga as the sky changes into an eerie purple hue, and of the creator as overly aggressive pokemon begin to appear. the scientist in her wants to stay here and study, formulating possible experiments to conduct within this strange realm. unfortunately, it seems too unstable to stay for long...

"lords of time and space," she mumbles under her breath, pale hair billowing beneath the sheer pressure of this place. "where are you?"

and while she's distracted, the pokemon she had been walking at the time begins to undergo change. what once was a blue and black bundle of fur begins to morph upon entry. her head whips to watch as the shiny zorua mewls beneath transformation. and before she knows it, before she can even reach the zorua, everything settles a moment later.

this little fox is... different in a way she sees but cannot understand.

the new shiny hisuian zorua coos when she reaches out a gentle hand to pet its furry head. and as a stray pokemon gets a little too close to its trainer, it fires off a new move she's never seen before: bitter malice. the attacking pokemon yelps in pain and scurries off to another corner of the distortion.

"cutie," she murmurs, reaching to scoop the hisuian zorua up into her arms. it snuggles into the warmth of her chest. "what happened? are you okay?" the fox mewls in response to affirm it's alright but illeana knows she'll be studying this tomorrow when she clocks in at silph co. if only to confirm what's occurred here...

Stay away?

You think even those higher up on the League chain are going to ‘stay away’ from these strange… space-time things, dubbed ‘distortions’?

Not when a stubborn bird man is involved, that’s for sure!

He’s certain that a certain bluenette is nowhere near this area, but all the same he can’t help but worry about the other while he flew out to investigate this. Normally he wouldn’t stray too far from Fortree in case an emergency hit the area; but this was something he had to see for himself first-hand.

While he’d been waffling on bringing Kyouya along, his gut instinct told him not to, just in case weird shit happened (and the blue-feathered avian lost all of his plumage)…

Well, he wasn’t expecting the weird shit to happen first-hand!

“Whoa, whoa, what the hell’s going on?!” he exclaimed as this normal, red-plumed Braviary made a beeline straight for the darkest point within, uncaring about the imminent fucking danger they were flying right into!

He didn’t know that his mount was already changing, reacting to the strange energies swirling within the weird pocket of space—and then, just then, something decided to stick her head out of his jacket—

“Zelle! What did I tell you?! Don’t let yourself be seen!” he hissed at the Phione, who took exactly one look outside and let out a frightened squeal as she hid herself back inside the confines of his zipped-up jacket.

“Honestly, I have no idea what the fuck to do if one of these appears near Fortree… might as well check it out and get intel, right,” he said to nobody in particular as he urged the Braviary to fly against the whipping wind as they scanned the area—before eventually getting the hell out of there.

And not realizing that his aerial mount had changed; in more ways than one.

A strange presence had appeared, and as a Ranger, he had gone to investigate. But as he stepped into the strange bubble thing, the sky grew dark and particles began to rain around him. He felt his breath hitch, and a hand moved to the Pokeballs on his belt as every instinct, every alarm bell in his head began going off at once.

And then came the roar from behind him.

The creature had appeared out of nowhere, as if from thin air. He hadn't been able to even hear it coming. He didn't recognize the Pokemon, though it did resemble an Ursaring. What he could tell though, is that it was angry. Had he been transported into its territory somehow? This wasn't his first time jumping into a time rift, though it had not been his choice last time. And he didn't seem to be hopping between times either... This time, it was on a fixed point. Perhaps something like with the Groudon incident?

Oh, right. Angry bear.

Buddy, his Arcanine, let itself out of its Pokemon to shield Josh when the creature tried to attack. While concerned about the hit it had just taken, Josh would take initiative. "Flamethrower!" he called out, hoping maybe they could buy a chance for them to escape. Buddy would loose a Flamethrower that hit the other Pokemon dead on. They had to get out of danger if he was going to investigate this rift anymore. Not knowing Buddy's injuries though, he would take the lead as he began to make a run for it. "Let's go!" he encouraged the Arcanine, who seemed to have sustained no serious injuries as they fell into step along with him. But it wasn't long before the bear was on their heels. The Arcanine would grab its trainer by the shirt collar and yeet him onto its back before taking off. "Keep going! I don't think it can follow us if we get out of the bubble!" he instructed as he held on for dear life. The Arcanine barked in affirmative before picking up speed, blazing a trail as it quickly escaped the bear and shot through the bubble.

Josh breathed a sigh in relief as he patted the Arcanine's scruff in praise. "Good job, now we can..." he trailed off before he realized that the white scruff had darkened. Hopping off, he backed away to see...
