Once again, breathless, in the pitch-black, water filling every orifice that shouldn't be filled by any liquid, tumbling and and rolling as the water crashes and waves around. The helplessness that came to being underwater was more than overwhelming, there was vision and no way of knowing what was happening above him, the ones guilty of pulling him down being the last of his worries of now. [break][break]

A deep wet breath filled Aidan's lungs as he gasped for a bit of life, coughing up the water that had tried to take his life once more, hearing a familiar voice calling out him. Now with his back to a surprisingly solid and dry ground. "I'm good! I'm getting used to it." Aidan was say while laying on his back, sounding like someone who has smoked for 47 years. He'd give Rowan Wrynn a thumbs up before rolling himself to get up.[break][break]

First taking in his new environment, then standing up. "What is this place?" He's speak up more asking himself than anyone around him, so much information to take in. Noticing that Rowan had thrown himself towards the cages, Aidan would decide to do something. Making sure to get his Metagross back into it's homely and warm pokeball, a bit of jealousy taking over.[break][break]

They had to take this one step at a time, once again he'd pick up a shard before squatting down to look at the many scattered notes and parts of what looked like journals at a first glance, his curiosity taking hold of him as he tries to read random pages to at least make some sense of what they had stumbled upon. It was as if his body mind and soul were craving UNDERSTANDING, the understanding of the world around him, of what to do next... Knowledge.[break][break]

Blocking the path behind them was a very interesting and good idea, it would be unfortunate if they had to turn back at some point. To say that he was regretting his choice was an understatement, with every heavy step he took, with every push he made in the water. He missed the sun, the dry land and some dry underwear.[break][break]

"So the plan is just to keep swimming?" Not exactly enjoying the idea of not being able to know what exactly lurked around and under them, and from past experience h knew he was about to get dragged down under again, the undead slip and slide is what he would call it if anyone asked, and he had done it on purpose.[break][break]

"We're about to fuck around and find out aren't weeeeeeee?" Aidan would say looking towards Rowan Wrynn as the anchors and chains shot up from under the murky waters. Quickly, Aidan would signal his METAGROSS to make a move and try to catch a DHELMISE by surprise with a HAMMER ARM. Hopefully being fast enough to not get taken down himself, not again to depths of the water.[break][break]

Death had always been something Aidan dealt with, it had always been something that followed him like hos own shadow but to see a place that embodied the idea of death was always surprising to him. Death had always been something Aidan thought everyone dealt with in their life, the longer he stayed alive only showed him he had simply seen it happen more than the average person.[break][break]

This had been the second time he stepped into what some people would call the afterlife but for the people of Hoenn this place had simply become a extension of their region, one of the many strange phenomena that had become part of some daily lives, the unnatural simply became the natural here.[break][break]

Aidan would look towards Elise Calcifet with a small smile as she spoke about feeling a little at ease because of the company. It felt nice to have someone trusting him once, made him feel like he mattered and that making right choices were worth it. "Grab onto that uneasy feeling and use it for strength because it doesn't go away." It was true, this was indeed his second time stepping here and that cold shivering feeling never leaves. "Should we do this differently than last time, Rowan Wrynn?" The one other person who decided to come back with him after their last unsuccessful expedition.[break][break]

Looking from an outside perspective really gave Aidan the ideology that everyone really was fighting their own battles, on the physical and metaphysical sense, of course some had help from outside sources but in the end everyone had their own world and views reasons to stay alive and it was a beautiful thing.[break][break]

Aidan was no different from those around him, fighting to the bitter end, thankfully that bitter end didn't come today. As the Nihilego decided to burst into glitter Aidan heard a familiar voice, perhaps it was time to take a little breather for once. "Took your time getting here, didn't want to take the zombie route?" Aidan said with a smirk, likely still hidden by now drying mud. "I wouldn't dare take that title from you." The Rocket member would say flicking mud from his hair towards Rowan Wrynn .[break][break]

He could sense the tension building up in the cave between their small group and people that came and went but he was glad to see that things were being buried for the time being, perhaps something to do with their survival being on the line. It wasn't his place to intervene, some may even have called it a canon event.[break][break]

Without the time to take in the tourist like sights of the cave, Aidan would give out a heavy sigh as soon as he watched Rowan pick the path once again. Waving towards his Metagross to follow him towards the deep swampy way. "Of course you pick this one!" Aidan would say towards just anyone but Rowan Wrynn would know it was towards him. No time for questions right now though, it was tiime to move deeper.[break][break]

What a welcoming unexpected surprise, a library wasn't exactly the place Aidan thought he'd be meeting new people. In his past life such places were marked as places of peace and deep thoughts, after all there was a surprisingly high amount of studying he had to go through when he had joined the force years ago.[break][break]

Looking up from the pages of his book, Aidan would reply to Elise with courteous nod and a tip of a imaginary hat towards the little one so called Chamomile, a fine choice of name indeed. Aidan would make sure to mark where he had stopped reading before truly responding. "Always a pleasure to meet another book enthusiast! You may call me Aidan." No reason to hide his identity, the perks of being on the low ranks of Rocket, out of sight and out of mind.[break][break]

"So what has brought you to this universe of endless possibilities?" He'd say looking around them, hoping to Arceus he wouldn't get shushed by a librarian any moment now. In reality he was just curious about the book she had picked out for herself. In Aidan's experience, a way to judge someone's character was to see what kind of books and stories they keep as company. [break][break]

"If you don't mind sharing that is." The man would say with a warm smile towards Elise and her adorable pokemon butler.[break][break]

What an amazing evening for meeting new friends and old comrades, what a beautiful day to go around spelunking around muddy waters, what a glorious day to investigate gate the dead bodies. Aidan had accepted the task of helping Rowan Wrynn with the poor chap that had passed away in unknown and unfortunate circumstances, but little did they know that the dead had better plans for Aidan's day.[break][break]

Before he could put his hands on the dead, the dead decided to put their hands on him. As the cold and wet hands touched his body bringing the chill of death and wetness of the drowned. "Fuuuuu..." Before he could even finished speaking he was already under, being dragged to only Arceus knew where. One could even say that the bubbles that rose up once he was gone had finished his sentence "uuuuck".[break][break]

After what had felt like a millennia of inability to breath and fight back, Aidan finally found the power and ability to pick himself up. "The dead can have me when they earn me!" He said picking himself up, mud still in his hair and clothes, and other places it shouldn't be. Probably the worse he had looked in his life but of course nothing was so bad that it couldn't get worse.[break][break]

Of course his realization would only come once he was thrown to the ground and picked back up by eldritch jellyfish pokemon, as far as his brain had caught up to his surroundings he had no actual clue on what was happening there. He wasn't the only one dragged to the underworld or just a cave, jury was still on that one. Other trainers and their pokemon struggled and fought against their captors. Aidan wasn't beyond that either, especially since his own pokemon had been taken down with him. It was time for Aidan to see if all his gym days had paid off and to see if his pokemon could live up to some expectations. With a few clicks of his tongue the Metagross would try and use ZEN HEADBUTT on one of the Nihilego while Aidan struggled to break himself free with his own strength. [break][break]

It seems the group was forever getting bigger, which wasn't a bad thing at all, it just meant that safety in number was becoming a full blown reality. He couldn't help but give out a sneer towards Rowan Wrynn's small 'following' comment. "If I was following you, I would have asked you to start picking for places with solid ground." Mud really wasn't his terrain of choice when he had rolled his character sheet.[break][break]

Things were really happening at the speed of sound around here. Bodies had started appearing, eldritch pokemon were appearing and trying to escape. "This is definitely not a dumping site... Bodies that are dumped don't often float up." There was several reasons for this but the most important one would be because whoever was dumping them wouldn't want them to be found, Aidan knew this very well. [break][break]

Clicking his tongue twice and pointing towards the strange Ursaluna so his Metagross could take action, hopefully with the AGILITY it had used before it would help be able to help Rowan's Decidueye keep the strange pokemon at bay with it's own move, a FLASH CANNON.[break][break]

With his pokemon making it's move Aidan would would quickly take Rowan on the offer to help him with the body. "I have some experience with dead ones, what do you need a hand with?" He wasn't exactly sure what Rowan intended to do with the body but hopefully it had nothing to do with them running around with a muddy, dead, damp and mutilated body around. Aidan could only hope.[break][break]

Trudging through what felt like several layers of muddy hell, Aidan had finally reached the only person he actually knew in the area. He was thankful that he had found a familiar face among the mud, branches and bog. After all, every second he spent in there made him him feel more uneasy, as if something could happen at any moment.[break][break]

Patting Rowan Wrynn in the back as soon as he was close enough, a small smile upon his face, a smile that told Rowan how uncomfortable the man was with the mud and scenario. "As much as I could see you taking a vacation in a place like this, I assume you're here for the killer pokemon too?" Aidan didn't really need to ask that question, of course everyone was here for the killer pokemon, nothing better than a good old mob hunt.[break][break]

Looking around them once again before speaking. "May I suggest we stick together? I don't feel like the best of ideas to split up when there's a killer on the loose, trust me. People getting picked off isn't just a movie trope." Sadly, Aidan did have experience with that, but such a story should be left for another time. Making sure he was ready himself he'd pull out a pokeball to let one of his pokemon out to play. A Metagross would apparate from the within the pokeball only to land right next to Aidan with a slushy SPLASH.[break][break]

Before Aidan could reach out with towards his pokemon's nonexistent neck and strangle it to death he would notice something of very peculiar color, a shard that had emerged with the splash. "Oh that's new!?" He'd say reaching for it. Giving a few taps of the shard onto the Metagross' head. "Be read for anything" With that his pokemon knew to use AGILITYjust so it could react to any threat that came their way.[break][break]

"So what say ye, Mr mud boy? Shall we team up for once?"[break][break]

Like a moth to the flame. For the first time Aidan had decided to take on a task for himself, no Rocket business, no ulterior motive here. Simply the will and want of a "retired" detective, the search of a interesting and interesting puzzle. Some may even call him arrogant for comparing the loss of a life with a simple puzzle and that might have been true, but it was simply a way to let his brain process while not breaking into a million pieces after seeing another decomposing body.[break][break]

Once his path had been selected. Aidan had made his first step with a massive 'SPLOSH'. Slowly closing his eyes before he would curse the world and all those in it. Taking a deep breath along with his second step, another 'splosh', much lighter than the first one since he perfectly knew what he had walked himself into. Mud, it had to always be mud.[break][break]

Moving his way through the sludge and wetlands, forever feeling like there were eyes on the back of his neck. It was impossible to feel comfortable in a scenario like this, perhaps this was that sixth sense that had kept humans alive for many centuries. He'd try to use this moment of natural stress to try and listen for the sound of the wetlands, after all a quiet ecosystem was never good news to anyone.[break][break]

Slowly moving forward he'd start to encounter and see more people, all unknown to him except one. Ahead of him he saw Rowan Wrynn . He couldn't help but smile behind his mask. "Of course it would be him in a place like this." Aidan would say to himself before moving towards Rowan and what he assumed was his friend and a friend of Rowan was a associate to Aidan. "Hey there mud boy! Wait up! My old legs can only carry me for so long." Aidan would say loud enough so the two could hear him, pulling down his mask and waving to show he meant well, after all his disguise was more to keep himself dry from the rain and mud[break][break]

Watching the reactions from pokemon were far better than witnessing the lie filled reactions of humans, even if a pokemon acted cute for food or treats, it was just a genuine feeling from the pokemon, a ulterior motive that was both selfless and harmless.[break][break]

Once the Zigzagoon had slurped the meat from his hand, Aidan would pick himself up and grab another piece, the little guy running circles around him, almost like a little ritual for meat. Aidan would once again crouch to the pokemon's level and offer him more. "Seriously." He'd repeat, using a affirmative tone rather than a questioning one.[break][break]

Aidan would look up at the man once his motives were being questioned, even if his looks were being praised he couldn't help but be slightly hurt deep within his broken soul. "There's a camera over there and over there." Aidan would say with a straight face, of course he had been lying but he couldn't let the chance go.[break][break]

"Name's Aidan and yeah this is from the goodness of my heart for once." He didn't exactly want to divulge his true intentions of simply being nice and he wanted to take a break from life. "Feel free to join, I'm more than glad to grill up more stuff than just for pokemon." Not really a chef but he had his own run ins with the grill from his long lost days at the police academy.[break][break]
