she'll take the latter, with a smile on her lips and a chuckle following suit. maybe it was a surprise, for someone like her to indulge in something more simple. maybe it was a surprise she wasn't as lucrative as her fellow classmates. sheba's gotten the reaction she wanted, however, so she's content, and the details don't matter much. [break][break]

she hums, tenting her fingers together in her lap. there's only the smallest sliver of coy in her tone when her head tilts to the side "hm? what's made you think that?" her lips curl into a broader smile "do i not have the presence of a CEO?~"

ah. [break][break]

maybe there wasn't a need to be worried. [break][break]

not when she greets her so enthusiastically, and so energetically. sheba had half the mind to believe that she was struggling, only a little bit, with the scandals that surfaced. she knows, as someone who grabbed the leash and yanked the one who held it. it's a shark water world, and the public was the worst weapon anyone could wield against a person (and there were too many people who were eager to stoke the flames; what sets sheba apart was her willingness to snuff out the spark before the fire followed). [break][break]

"you flatter me." she manages to muster, still, attempting to maintain a somewhat formal guise in the face of absolute excitement. sheba has to remind herself that this is for business and, although her potential influencer was someone she's painfully familiar with, sheba has to maintain her airs. [break][break]

yet when her hand lowers, she can't help but to wryly chuckle with a slightly raised brow. "thank you.. i did not expect it to become as popular as it has.." and she certainly didn't think that so many news and music outlets were so eager to pounce. it'd be naive to think that it'd be able to fly under the radar, but was it naive to think that it wouldn't blow up as much as it did? especially not when there were two other albums released that same season, both of which topped charts in their own respects. "i've been more focused on the promotion of my company, rather than my music~.." [break][break]

but maybe it's to be expected; she was involved with music before she was involved with make up. [break][break]

the giddy, poorly contained energy that exudes from the young woman is.. overpowering, for one. it's almost endearing for another. were it not for her restraint and formalities, maybe she'd indulge on a hug for a fan - or a hug for another idol who was swept up in controversy. what she sees in front of her is a child (a child who's been through enough, and who will go through more with her music). the questions she suddenly asks helps as a transition - because god knows she'd only be a little awkward shifting the fangirling into business. [break][break]

"ahem.. yes." she clears her throat first, sitting down at the couch at the opposite side of a wood and glass table. she wears a smile, though it's one softer, and warmer, and welcoming. "you've recently released an album as well, haven't you? i've listened to it." she hums, reaching into a bag, and pulling out a laptop to quickly boot up as she speaks. "and i have plans for a new collection, with different music genres as the motif." she chuckles softly, eyes going from the screen back to the young lady. [break][break]

"an edm-inspired palette in your image would be fun, wouldn't it?~"

ah, a shame. [break][break]

not that she didn't already have lawyers to deal with the legality of everything she does. her light-hearted jest was, thankfully, reciprocated still. [break][break]

sheba sips on straight black, with bitter coffee being the only thing that can keep her energy up when she has to deal with.. insomnia, and children, and even worse insomnia after recent events. it stings her tongue and prompts a brief recoil. it'll take time to get used to the grating taste, but it'll fade. [break][break]

the bitterness fades as her attention goes back to her conversation partner, then the amusement rattles the rest. "ah, yes," she hums, a coy smile and chime from her lips as she turns to reach into her purse. between two fingers, she pulls out a white card with a simple flower design, next to INU written in an equally clean, simple font. [break][break]

"this is my business. you can actually find it somewhere in the department store." he's passed it before, she's sure - so now she's waiting to see his response with the tiniest anticipation. is it wrong for her to be proud and excited?

sheba can barely believe her ears, and can barely believe the audacity of.. a doctor that she, herself hired, for her children. his only saving grace is the instinctive hesitation seeing his hushing gesture, but the mother already knows that the children aren't asleep - after all, they wouldn't have been able to call him otherwise. what surprises her is how they were able to get to the phone without her noticing. [break][break]

even if it wasn't much of a challenge. [break][break]

the same children eyed, quietly from behind the darkness of a bedroom's ajar door. it wasn't the first time they've seen their mother acting like this, but it was always amusing to the elder twin. it was one of the few times their mother, a stone statue that stood tall, collapsed into rubble. [break][break]

on the other hand, sheba sighs softly. she should have known the answer, but she asked anyways. she hoped that it would have changed. [break][break]

so she groans, fingers to her forehead before they lower to gently pinch the bridge of her nose. "fine." she sighs, leading herself and him up the stairs and to a door just a little ways down the hall of her large villa. it's surprisingly close, only because she knows she can't bear to sleep too far away from the children. [break][break]

"surely, you don't plan to actually stay the night." a quirked brow asks it all, and coupled with her tone of voice, one could pick out the slight concern.[break][break]

"... do you?"

meeting after meeting. [break][break]

her schedule is filled to the brim, and she's a busy woman. all things considered, it's a miracle that she was able to find and slot in a small window of relief - especially when word reaches that her company was able to land a small collaboration with quite the popular musician; and not without her fair share of controversies. [break][break]

sheba is a busy woman; she doesn't have time to deal with the press nor the media. she doesn't have time to deal with children who found themselves under the spotlight of interrogation, but there are the occasional sparks that shine brighter in the radiant space. yes, the radiant space she's made for herself to gaze up on. was it arrogant for her to pick out the ones that glow? [break][break]

the ones who make it through are the most beautiful, she finds. diamonds in the rough, regardless of upbringing or connections. [break][break]

it's why she bothered, really. it's why she snapped back at the PR team that seemed a little anxious with her decision. it's why she looked to her secretary and doubled down when she said she wanted her schedule freed. it's a very important meeting - it's a meeting with a woman she's only met once, or a few times, while she was still in her teenage years. it was brief, but she was peppy. cheery. what is she like now? [break][break]

beyond these office doors, a girl is sitting on a couch she was brought to. sheba, with a deep breath, gathers herself and turns the knob with a smile. [break][break]

"blooms?" she asks, walking in with the click of her heels. as she walks to the couch where the woman sits, she holds her hand out. "inoue. thank you for taking the time out of your day to meet with me."

ah yes, his distain. delicious. [break][break]

who can blame her for being amused, watching his brows knit and furrow in response to her sudden, light pat? she couldn't call it much a slap, considering that it never even made a sound. still, his overreaction is amusing enough to bring out a soft chuckle from her lips. "oh, come on." no attempt is made to hide the amusement. [break][break]

"you're being dramatic~." not like she wasn't just a moment ago, before he lightly slapped her wrist away. in the midst of his irritation, she can't help but to chuckle softly and narrow amber eyes down the hallway - just to make sure that no children have awoken amidst their deeper conversation, or (what she enjoys as) banter. [break][break]

her lips press together in a hum, and she makes a leisurely stroll towards the door he backs himself towards. his mocking tone in a whisper was certainly something - especially since he's being considerate of his volume. still, she can't help but to laugh a bit more the longer he goes on. softly, with a hand over her lips to (poorly) stifle it. [break][break]

"pff.. hai, hai, you wouldn't smoke in here~" clearly, her attempts to hold in the laughter is failing. clearly, she isn't putting in enough effort. her head shakes as she composes herself, yet the amused smile in contrast to his irritation stays. "it wasn't necessary," she hums in response to the offended look "but it's kind of funny~."[break][break]

she grabs the pokeball of a charizard, and her head tilts. "anyways.. would you like a light?" she asks, while the drops of rain still cling to the air just outside. the drizzle and drops hit against the wooden canopy.

loathe is she to reject another person's kindness, but she doesn't quite know how to.. accept this. her brows furrow and her hand raises up to the braid that loosely holds locks of brunette. tanned fingers begin to fidget with the bunched up tuft. "the dresses are beautiful, really." even if she doesn't have the same eye for fashion as she does glorified face paint. [break][break]

he's being polite and offering his kindness - in the form of dressing her up. it's just that she didn't expect this.. sort of meeting when he called her.[break][break]

so she takes a step towards the golden weaved garments, amber eyes scanning the dresses as a smile involuntarily comes to her lips. her gaze shifts to the side, giving the taller man a glance. "retirement?" she starts, a chuckling smile from her lips "i think it's a bit too early for that." [break][break]

her gaze falls back to the outfits, and a hum follows shortly after. [break][break]

"i'm only.." now she hesitates, fingers gently pinching the skirt of one of the many dresses on the racks ".. a little clueless. i'll admit i don't have as much of an eye for clothing fashion~."[break][break]

he walks in anyways, like he owns the god damn house. there's something about the way he walks that's so infuriating, and she'll insist that it isn't the lack of sleep that's been tugging at her irritation. "excuse me?" she starts, still helplessly following behind a man as he makes his way to the staircase. [break][break]

"i would very much mind! you can't just--" she stammers, slightly, once her fingers reach the wooden railing at the bottom of the case. "just-- just--..!" she's about to blow a fuse when she takes a deep breath to gather herself, and her words, while pinching the bridge of her nose a second time tonight. [break][break]

now she's helpless, and though she already knows the answer, she prays for a different answer when she asks. [break][break]

"you won't take no for an answer, will you?"

she stares. dumbfounded, really. [break][break]

yes, this isn't the first time he's been at her house. yes, this isn't the first time he's been called because of her own lack of sleep and, yes, this isn't the first time he's let himself in without a damn to give. she's starting to think that he's gotten too comfortable in her home, especially with how he carries himself so nonchalantly. [break][break]

it's too late to stop him when he enters her home. just when she thought that her headache could finally subside, another one comes at her door and tries to get her to rest. wonderful. [break][break]

"callaghan," she starts, a heavy sigh leaving her lips. her hand raises to gently pinch and rub the bridge of her wrinkled nose "i appreciate the gesture, but i assure you i am perfectly alright." amber eyes glance up the stairs, and a stray lock of jet black leaves a trail when the pair of eyes turn to hide. [break][break]

she never means to be pushy, but she will be, knowing how stubborn this one can be. so in response, she attempts to step in front of the galarian man's path. her fingers rest against his chest in an attempt to stop his stride. "i'm fine, thank you. i'll head to bed soon."[break][break]

she lies.

nighttime is her only refuge. [break][break]

the children are asleep and the calls have stopped. it's the only time in the day where she has the peace and quiet to finish up the rest of her work, or to start brainstorming ideas for future projects. is this necessary? no, absolutely not - especially when she's sacrificed sleep in the name of work. [break][break]

but work doesn't finish itself when you're asleep, and sheba is fully aware of this. she's a hypocrite who sends her children to sleep and emphasizes the importance, only to spend another day without a wink and some coffee to her name. they don't normally notice, she doesn't think, when she sends them off to school with their driver. [break][break]

little does she know, her children are smarter than she thinks. it's the stroke of midnight and sheba is in her office, fingers combing through brunette locks and a wrinkle between her brows. then the doorbell rings. [break][break]

she wasn't supposed to have any visitors today, was she? certainly no appointment at midnight, and she couldn't have someone else get the door. so, reluctantly, she moves several paces down the hallways to the door to find... someone very familiar. [break][break]

"callaghan?" she makes a poor attempt to hide the surprise "what are you doing here so late?" [break][break]

"i didn't schedule an appointment this late at night."
