But all she can hear is the soft rustle of leaves and the faint grunts of Deino deeper in their cave. They were beginning to respawn slowly.[break][break] So it comes as a startling surprise when the sharp end of a knife is driven through the back of her shoulder blade. Pain seizes her body as the poison sets in immediately, leaking from the tip of her attacker's blade.[break][break] "What the fuck?"[break][break] Stormy hisses, wrenching herself away from the pain as one hand clasps her wound. It's a virtual injury however, and the pain quickly seems to disappear. Surely she had chosen the wrong class.[break][break] But she does eventually join him at the gates, taking a moment to catch her breath. Was that normal to be out of breath in the virtual world?[break][break] She leans a hand on his back before pulling herself back up to her full height, blinking slowly as she stares up into the eyes of an angry Hydreigon. Kazimir's confidence boosts her ego and her energy. Yes, yes they were the best team in the game. [break][break] "Don't worry, I've got ya!"[break][break] He fires off an aura sphere into the Hydreigon's side. It falls to the ground and she immediately twirls her wand, ice crystalizing at it's tip. The freeze-dry hits its target without a hitch considering the Pokemon's downed state. Stormy wasn’t the type to shirk danger, however, especially not with Kazimir by her side. They had accepted a quest together which required them to kill way too many goddamn Farfetch’d in order to collect their leeks.[break][break] The first 50 were easy because their drop rates were ridiculously high. Of course, the difficult part was the collection of the three large leeks. [break][break] Which is precisely why Stormy had insisted the two of them locate another mob of Farfetch’d just outside the Kingdom of Valora. Drop rates in dangerous zones with the option of being killed by fellow players were significantly higher. Of course, significantly higher than 0.1% was still garbage, but it was at least a little bit less garbage.[break][break] Stormy brandishes her wand for the 3,507th time that week, blasting the entire flock of Farfetch’d in front of her with one powerful blast of MYSTICAL FIRE. The flames eat up the feathers of the mob and they disintegrate. Once again, all she finds are more of the common leeks.[break][break] She wipes sweat from her brow as she glances back at the giant tiger-man.[break][break] “Any luck?”[break][break] And then she sees it: one Farfetch’d in a whole crowd of at least 25-30 Farfetch’d. It’s a bit bigger than the rest and its leek seems just a bit taller. [break][break] A blast of FREEZE-DRY extends from the tip of her wand, aiming to freeze the mob. As their feathers begin to crystalize and their bodies come to a standstill as they await certain death, Stormy hears something else charging right for them. 'Rowdy Buck' approaches Kazimir at this point, curiosity and acceptance of his name encouraging him closer.[break][break] "Yes, it does sound pretty cool."[break][break] However that note of amusement and happiness is quickly squandered with panic as Kazimir stretches further, only for both of them to hear something cracking. Stormy sits up straight, concern turning her face pale as she looms over the man, unsure how to help.[break][break] "Oh my god, are you okay?"[break][break] But then her gaze follows his line of sight, back to the egg she'd left sitting in the grass not too far away. She's momentarily forgotten about it, and she's more surprised and concerned when Kazimir gets to his feet so abruptly in his delight.[break][break] "Wait, Kaz!"[break][break] She winces as he cries out in pain, gasping for air like a fish out of water as he turns back to her for help. She rushes to his side, a hand pressed to the back of his shirt to offer him support and comfort.[break][break] "Stay still, dude. Jeez, you're gonna kill yourself."[break][break] She whistles sharply, encouraging both horses to return. Another pokeball is released and her female Mudsdale appears. Stormy reaches into her bag of many things, pulling out what looks like a tarp or sleeping bag, and some rope. She manages to whip up a makeshift stretcher for him to lay on that she then ties to the Mudsdale's reins.[break][break] "Alright, guys. Slow and steady, alright? Jostle him and I'll jostle you."[break][break] He has since fallen over in a spasm and she kneels next to him, concern turning to determination as she slowly attempts to roll him onto the stretcher. Once on, she'd give the man's hand a tight squeeze before standing back up.[break][break] "Alright, you nut. I'm taking you home, you definitely need to see a doctor or something for that back. No way it's my fault the Pokkenger disappears, you got me?"[break][break] With a sigh, she'd scoop his egg up into her arms to remount Apollo and brush her hand over her own egg that had also begun to crack.
