It is as if a dam breaks and she can no longer hold onto the lump in her throat. Her teeth grind together and she glances down to avoid looking at him, to prevent him seeing. In doing so, she breaks away from his touch, a quiet sob making her shoulders shudder.[break][break]

His voice sounds far away and muffled. She can only hear the thunder in her chest and feel the lump in her throat, too painful to swallow, impossible to ignore. It leaves her breathless, and it is fear that roots her. She doesn't see Matias in front of her anymore, she's seeing the darkness, the monster that exists in her dreams.[break][break]

Stormy blinks, jolted from the memory as the skin of his palm brushes her cheek. She flinches, exhaling sharply before realizing that the gesture is familiar. His thumb wipes away what tears fell and she breathes in shakily to steady herself.[break][break]

The door bursts open just as she's wrangled one of the Charmander into her arms. She gasps in shock as the baby Pokemon kicks hard off of her chest in his eagerness to blast through the open door. Kazimir's announcement is ultimately ignored entirely by the youngsters, however, as they barrel past him to jump on the man's Charizard instead.[break][break]

"Kaz!"[break][break]

She witnesses his heartbreak as the babies clamber all over the other Pokemon. Of course, their attention span even to the Charizard is fleeting before they take off into the back yard to cause more havoc. The grunts and groans of the woman's own Charizard rise as baby Pokemon bite and chew and scratch them as well.[break][break]

"Now I'm heartbroken- did you only come here to see the babies?"[break][break]

She pouts, arms crossed over her chest as she approaches him. But eventually, she opens up her arms to invite him in for a hug.[break][break]

There are four knocks at the door that prompt Stormy to glance over her shoulder to the calendar on her fridge. She's forgotten to cross off a couple of days so it takes her a moment longer to squint and come to the conclusion that she wasn't expecting anyone - nor did she have anywhere important to be. Which meant that she wasn't expecting anyone.[break][break]

And yet the presence at her front door does not simply go away, and she sets down whatever it was she'd been holding to approach the door. When she opens it, she's met with a smiling face. Her name falls from his lips and she blinks, brows quickly furrowing into surprise and confusion.[break][break]

The door swings away from her fingertips and her hand falls to her side.[break][break]

This was helplessness, a giddy sense of wonder. It was a feeling she knew too well, something she'd come to fear, to anticipate with gooseflesh and that nervous tingle down her spine. She craved it, and yet she fought like hell to keep it at arms length.[break][break]

The tension rises, crackling between them with nervous intensity as their eyes meet. He clears his throat and she squeezes the edge of the counter, focusing on the coolness against her warm fingertips. Stormy shifts her weight, hair slipping over her shoulder. He begs for an answer, an explanation to the woman's confusing response. But words won't cut it, and words aren't what rise from the pit of her stomach like a net full of disoriented, clumsy butterflies. [break][break]

He's close enough to touch, so she reaches. [break][break]

Stormy's touch is light, brushing lighting against his chest, focusing more on the feel of fabric than the feel of skin beneath. She's hesitant, cautious, playing with fire. But she is the unburnt, and so she should be fearless.[break][break]

Her footsteps clip against the pavement as she makes her way somewhat hastily to kyle lopez's front door. Earlier that day she'd called the man with confusion laced in the somewhat frantic note in her voice and the huffs of her trying to fend something off.[break][break]

She'd recently come into possession of several coloured discs, and apparently, what's hers was Khimaira's. Minding her business in the kitchen, fixing herself a drink and examining the yellow-flavored disc, her Silvally had come up out of nowhere with his ear plugs wide open and his body language way too friendly to be normal.[break][break]

He'd gotten riled up and dare she say excited over the disc, and had at some point managed to wrestle it from her. It clicked into place behind his ear and then he'd blown a fuse and blew up the mug of coffee she'd made. The toaster was kaput, the fridge turned off, and she'd told Kyle she was coming over with the Silvally in tow.[break][break]

And now here she was, knocking at his front door and still tingling with leftover electricity.[break][break]

Rustling from the back pantry alerts Stormy to the mischievous tail-wagging of more than one bothersome and adorable Charmander. At some point, it seemed that the little bastards had escaped from their penned in section of the house. Plenty of fresh air and space to romp around and tussle and they chose to ransack the house. As babies do.[break][break]

"Hey, woah now! What the hell are you guys doin' in there? Those crackers are mine you greedy beggars!"[break][break]

She snatches the chewed on box from the nearest one, shooing them all out of the closet with her foot. They bounce away, grunting and whining in protest. The woman thumbs over the damp, gnawed on cardboard briefly before she's distracted by a vibration in her pocket. Fishing the cellphone out, the screen comes to life to show her several missed calls and a couple of text messages. [break][break]

Despite her exasperation, a smile creeps across her features. She turns around to tilt the forward facing camera. It captures a photo of her exhausted, smiling face alongside her Charmander presently.. setting fire to the couch?![break][break]

"Oh, shit-- please, no! Stop that!"[break][break]

The photo is sent back with an apology that's almost certainly spelt wrong. She sets the phone down on the countertop before darting after the Charmander's, fire extinguisher in hand.[break][break]

There is only a brief window in which Stormy stares at the girl(chryssa glasgow) as if she had three heads. Her ominous tone and spooky inflection always caught her off-guard, perhaps because of the slight smile she wore and the calm confidence in her delivery.[break][break]

But she doesn't let it get to her because there are more important topics to discuss, such as why there are several people taking off into the trees. It seemed that they were all a victim of hive-mind, chasing after an unknown shape, drawn in by the terrifying scream of an animal enraged.[break][break]

Her own arrogance and lack of attention to detail enables Chryssa to swap herself out with her Zorua, and the woman's Charizard is nonethewiser. Or maybe he is, he simply doesn't care enough to mention it because it has nothing to do with him.[break][break]

Regardless, the three of them plunge deeper into the forest, drawn away from the bustle of the city and the oos and aws of civilians standing on the platforms. They were left behind immediately, an irrelevant background noise. [break][break]

And now, as they grow closer, Stormy is privy to the sight of a teenager grappling what appears to be a defensive Tropius. There is movement on the ground that she disregards at first and she urges her Charizard to pull up near enough to the pair: Andy Blackadder and @lev. Though she can see now that the masked stranger is waiting on a rope bridge carrying.. [break][break]

"Are you.. jumping rope on a rope bridge?"[break][break]

She'd never seen a pair of bolas before, nor was she close enough or looking hard enough to distinguish what it was the man was holding. Fortunately, 'Chryssa's' bizarre series of screeching and hollering - was she feeling alright? - is enough of a distraction that the elite four's Charizard pulls back.[break][break]

Just in time, it seems, to avoid being power-whipped out of the sky. It snaps against the rope bridge where it attaches to the tree. It's a thunderous noise and quite jarring.[break][break]

"What the hell?"[break][break]

It becomes abundantly clear, however, that whatever tussle between man and Tropius is nothing more than an unintentional distraction. On the ground, the Zarude screams as 'Chryssa's' taunt takes effect and the two people on the ground and hidden by the trees use their wits and their Pokemon to clobber this poor Pokemon.[break][break]

"Wait a minute-- stop!"[break][break]

But in tight spaces with a Charizard in amongst the trees, her words would do nothing to curb the fighting. [break][break]
