And even as the punch knocks her back to the ground, she continues to smile, though her nose bleeds, though her eyes prick, though she cries, she doesn't let him shake her resolve.[break][break]

"Just you watch then. I'll become better than all of you." All it takes is effort. A heap of it, but enough that Genny won't dare stop. She's going to beat this, and even as she lacks the energy to stand, the declaration is enough for her.[break][break]

It's after Neon leaves that Genny can feel the lick on her face.[break][break]

A phantom ever so hidden from sight. The memory of Ebony. That does have her weep. In quiet, she finally can. With the explosion of a Pokeball, comes the midnight dog Wander, and she carries her. The crying girl here going through more than enough. She had guts to face that Rocket alone... but.[break][break]

With a smile, Wander begins to run with the crying Genny falling to slumber...[break][break]

The Torchic and Duskull look onwards, as the Seviper hisses, both Pokemon appearing in front of Genny. She was so tired of this fight already. She was exhausted beyond comparison. But she held fast.[break][break]

A woman by the name of Jocelyn... part of her wants to believe it. Genny really does. But after being tormented all day by every single Rocket kind imaginable, from the good kind (howard slayte), to the kind who left her a sobbing mess (mint frost), she isn't about to take any chances.[break][break]

It's in the Poliwrath's appearance, that has Genny fumble, and takes a step back. She can't keep pushing herself like this.[break][break]

"I'm sorry..." she looks at Guardian and Fawkes, smiling, both of them raring to go.[break][break]

And then.[break][break]

"Yes. I am." The hostility of the Pokemon here have Genny in a light panic, as she chimes back. "What was your purpose here, Ms. Jocelyn..." it's a question, and she wants to believe it was for good intentions.[break][break]

"And why hide your face?" Bitterly... Genny hates that she probably knows why already.

Exhaustion... Genny declares it as such. She wants to believe. Can she even believe it that dream? The one she declared so handily towards mint frost ? Yet, as she can feel her mind buckling away, Pet Shop runs head first into hell. The hell of a SOLAR BEAM. The unfortunate truth is, the Pidgeot has very, very, very little choice.[break][break]

She bucks, and throws Genny upwards, running through the blast HEAD-ON to connect the AERIAL ACE, if its the last thing she does, with Genny now thrown with the Inkay directly at the Rocket.[break][break]

With anything left in her, if Rocket was playing dirty, so would she.[break][break]

"TEETER, CALYPSO! SHOW HIM THE WA-aaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!" she shouts, and from her Pokeball, even if she misses, falling into the sky, the Oricorio blasts outwards towards the rocket in a blast of red feathers, intent to TEETER DANCE everything. Genny. The Inkay. Jayden. Iron Moth. Pet Shop.[break][break]

Everything subjected to a chaotic level of confusion, to try and knock the Rocket out of the air with her. If she's going down, she's not going down alone.[break][break]

Pet Shop, scorched, burned, and scorched by that Solar Beam, burns all over her body, begins to plummet after her mark is guaranteed hit...

Quit? After everything? Walk away, and leave it behind? The thought spends three seconds in her head, and with it she grits her teeth, and forces herself to her feet. They wobble. They ache, with energy she doesn't have to spare. No matter how much pain lies ahead...[break][break]

"Never."[break][break]

Steadfast, she pulls herself up on her two wobbly, weakened legs, knowing she will fall any moment. Hazel eyes pricked with sadness, defiance in her tone. She takes a step forward towards Neon. Determination the only thing keeping her on two feet.[break][break]

She stumbles to a knee. Still a weakened mess.[break][break]

"As long as I'm breathing, I won't give it up." Her fist clinches, and she stumbles, messy orange-red bangs frayed, as she wipes a bloody hand towards her face. To wipe the tears.[break][break]

Wobbling unsteadily, she pulls out her Ranger badge, smeared now by dirt and blood. Fingers move over it... she doesn't deserve it. Has she saved anyone? Every Pokemon that has died has been for her to live... there's been a bigger reason for it all. But she hasn't seen it. Not until Ebony. Mr. Business? It was to get Elio, lam logan, and Ikarus Rook out alive. Hazel and Serenity? Keeping her safe from those Rockets (Tempest Quinn & Victoria Beckett). The ones she saw in the cave, with Isaac Merlo? Them too...[break][break]

They fought to keep her dream alive. They died for that dream. To quit was to call it foolish. To call them pawns, in a game of chess she never wanted to play, was an insult. They lived. They had lived.[break][break]

"And I won't throw it away." she claws at the dirt. Though she hasn't stopped crying, she gives Neon not a look of hatred, a glare of disdain...[break][break]

She gives him a smile. A refusal, a denial to let him torment her any more. And a declaration. "I'll become Champion. Honor their memory, and then I'll have to power to take Rocket down."[break][break]

"Then. I won't lose anyone ever again."

Beneath in the caverns, the Senior Ranger finds herself throwing down as best she can, taking the opportunity to throw everything out she can with Frosty by her side. The yeti stands in front of her, and Genny holds her hand out.[break][break]

The WOOD HAMMER collides into the ground of the cavern, a shockwave from the Abomasnow as it roars out, the shiny gleam from a blue arm strengthened by its strike downwards, as she rubs at her mouth.[break][break]

"You won't take another step as long as I'm standing!"[break][break]

With her cry outwards, she holds fast to challenge any Rocket that dares to challenge her, and Frosty together. Ice at the ready. Days upon days of abuse wearing and tearing at her mental and her body. She can't afford to let Rocket win here.[break][break]

Enter the challenger.

It rings in her ears. It roars in her body. The need to show just how intimidating she can be. Even when El Sunderland's Togekiss utilizes a SPRINGTIDE STORM to strike her, her body holds steadfast. Even when the toxic chain from luka chêne batters against her body, she remains ever the venomous parasite, ready to strike. The spores from Oliver Shrakes, however... slows her down. Suddenly, she feels like she's floating, her movement clumsy. Her mind slowing down.[break][break]

In some manner of way, its in this means, her body slows, that she feels it. She's trying, with all her might, to grab onto this monstrosity born from her own body, the chain from her back. Maybe it was the taste of that Herba Mystica... by Genevieve finds herself beginning to rip at her own body.[break][break]

The pain is excruciating. Gripping into it, blood tinging her fingernails, as she pulls with every bit of might she can, her mind still unable to fight it fully, but she forces herself towards the ship. She can't get this part of her body to work for her... so she hatches an idea. If the chain won't dissipate, she'll aim towards everyone going to the ship.[break][break]

And with it, strike at everyone so slow, she HAS to miss.[break][break]

"AV... OID... THE... STRIKE." she is biting into her lip, as her body screams. A strike towards Thomas Benoit, DESIREE BLOOMS, attempting to push at towards the ship more than them, an obvious movement of the chain, as it is forced into a trajectory against stray Megapolan. The sour taste in her mouth from the HERBA MYSTICA she chowed the only thing she can focus on. It's the only thing keeping her sane. A strike with that massive tendril from her back, imposing yet slow, attacks Isaac Merlo holding Eris Halla, blood seeping her lips, as she hopes he can pull out of the way so she can rip and tear into another of them. It was slow enough. She doesn't want to hurt either of them.[break][break]

She didn't want to hurt anyone, but as she is crying, and beating into everyone, she keeps attempting to ruin her own aim by the aid of the spores, her fingers still attempting to tear this chain from her body.[break][break]

"GET. OUT. OF. ME." Her pupils shrunken, she is attempting to tear this chain off through sheer willpower now as she strikes at more Megapolan, attempting to miss against Yuina Higashi, Aurelie Lefevre, and jack wainwright, as her Fennekin attempts to LIGHT SCREEN at every turn to keep her from hitting her target.[break][break]

The finality to Neon's words to her ring in. And for a moment, Genny's mind snaps. In animalistic rage, she wants to go. But her legs are too weak to carry her. The echo of Brute Bonnet sing for her the cacophony, the requiem to the fallen. She wants to hurt him, for taking Ebony away, but she can't get the strength to stand. So she does what she can do.[break][break]

She begins punching into the ground. Over. And over. And over. Tears fly everywhere. A nigh psychotic break, as she pounds away. Her lacking strength. Time, and time, and time again. Ultra Sea. Dog Mission. This stupid FUCKING war.[break][break]

Idealism crashes headfirst into reality, and she pounds her fists repeatedly, bloodying knuckles onto dirt. Her scream gaining strength, her heart echoing the sentiment as she claws into the dirt.[break][break]

Love without strength ends in bloody tears and needless sacrifice.[break][break]

Her knuckles bleed.[break][break]

"I'm tired of losing."[break][break]

Her mind goes back to the moment with Melody Miro in the Pokemon clinic. Genny's mind realigns itself back to sanity. Her eyes focus on the dirt. She's done with losing friend after friend. She's done letting people close to her suffer. She's done with it.[break][break]

She WILL become the Champion.

There is an almost pause when she hears the sad guitar play, and Genny almost drops it. But when she sees the person behind it... someone who knows the song all too well, she catches that fumble. She's not the best singer in the world. Hell, she can admit that. Voice lessons might help that, but for a moment, even in the amateur guitarwork, the amateur voicework... the duo shares something wonderful.[break][break]

This war takes so much from everyone. And they could take solace that they weren't alone in that pain.[break][break]

She wipes at her eye again, her heart burning... and she finishes. And she turns finally to the mystery guitarist. Her eyes prickled with those tears, as she takes a step towards him. Hard to learn an instrument, and even though the strumming isn't great, she loved it all the same.[break][break]

"Thank you." Her smile widens, her hands behind her. "Mind if I join you? Not every day I get to accompany a melody like that." The Mystery Guitar Guy has her attention now.

Hair? Check. Cute heart pin? Check. Ranger outfit? Check. Boots? Tip-tap, check! Her Pokemon?[break][break]

A quick once-over on them. Deciding to take a trio this time, she brings along Calypso, Blue, and Joker. A good trio, tiny Pokemon. They needed the practice, specifically Joker. The little Impidimp hadn't let Genny leave the house unless she brought him along. Though she wanted to bring Zagreus...[break][break]

It was a good idea, especially lately, to get everyone up to speed.[break][break]

It was Genny who had been late this time. Approximately seven whole minutes late, letting the trio just do what they do. Blue was a tiny bit scared on her shoulder, trembling. Joker had eaten some dirt, and Calypso had been dancing the whole way there, slowing down their movement a good bit.[break][break]

But, now closing in on Route 121, climbing through Mt. Pyre, Genevieve waves out towards her best friend. "Lammy!" She looked so much better than their last cave venture. Like it never had happened. Like she hadn't spent weeks in depressive spirals in drinking. A distant memory.[break][break]

Or rather. One that was fading more and more every day. A cloud moving from the sun that shined. The sunny smile back, and in full force. [break][break]

"Sorry I'm late! I slept in." Genny... slept in? Genevieve Cromwell? When the heck did that happen? And just by seven minutes? Was that even sleeping in?

Another candy bar, another happy face. There's just a happiness to the Pumpkin Witch of Lilycove, and with it, she leans down to ruffle their head. So short at four foot eleven, she brightens their days, when-[break][break]

A feminine voice calls out, and Genny's hazel eyes are thrown up towards a girl with two adorable Skitty ears to go with a big frilly dress. What a beautiful outfit! Happy and entranced, she moves up to a full stand now, the kid she had gifted one whole big chocolate bar to running off.[break][break]

"Ah. I'm so sorry! That's not the intention!" She's beside herself. Were people causing this stranger trouble? She had half a mind to pull up her sleeves and-[break][break]

Oh. Volunteer work?![break][break]

That immediately gets her brain going, and she holds out an entire jack-o'lantern filled with more candy bars. All off Genny's own dime, as she grins ear-to-ear. "Absolutely! Here, I want to empty it out before the night is over, if I can!" Seeing kids all have a genuine smile and a good Halloween meant more to Genny than anything else.[break][break]

"My name is Genevieve, but you can call me Genny!" If she wasn't holding the jack-o'lantern full of candy out, she'd hold a hand for a shake!

The good news is that they both had a turn to get themselves a break. The SMOKESCREEN makes it hard for Genny to see, but not Pet Shop. Pet Shop, on the other hand, is flying, up and down, round and round. The Rocket is correct in surmising her attack strategy. Hit and run works best.[break][break]

Unfortunately, without being able to see, Genny doesn't have the foresight or skill to realize that she is leaving a trail. The easiest trail of all for the Rocket to follow.[break][break]

"Make sure to hit!" With an AERIAL ACE, the Pidgeot would fly to hit the Charizard.[break][break]

Unbeknownst to either of them, that was the easiest telegraphed by the exhausted flight of the Pidgeot, and the inability to see it coming from Genny. And that would be costly to both.
