The people from Ballonlea did arrive safely and much to my surprise, brought me a letter.

I’m safe, the people of Hammerlocke are safe. We were able to repel much of the attack on the city as well. I’m doing my best to keep busy and help where I can.

There was something about the waves and the smell of the sea that was relaxing to Kaname. The way the waves lulled and rocked the ship reminded him of the way a mother rocked their child to sleep. It would’ve been so soothing, if he hadn’t been stressed about the mission.

Locating Kyogre was one of the highest priorities; after all, being in possession of the Sea Basin pokemon would give Team Rocket a much needed advantage as they could control the seas with ease.

It was Kaname’s job to ensure they found a trace of Kyogre’s trail. The scientist found himself on the deck of the research vessel, wind whipping through his hair as he stared at the screen of the tablet he held, interpreting the constant stream of atmospheric and sonar data being fed to his device. Kaname’s Pelipper, laden with equipment, landed on the deck beside him and squawked demandingly. “Fine, fine…,” he huffed and fished a small wishiwashi from a nearby bucket and threw it into the sea bird’s open maw to be devoured greedily.

“Now back to work.” He chided, causing the Pelipper to snap its large beak at him before taking off once more into the sky.

There was a visible grimace on Kaname’s face at the mention of his trip to Kanto. He’d hoped to avoid the topic, hoped that Zev Harcourt would be the man of few words that he was meant to be. Those hopes, however, were thrown overboard.

Kaname sighed and shook his head. “I no longer have the clearance to discuss my trip to Kanto, Harcourt. I’m sure you understand.” It was a reserved answer, one Kaname hoped that Zev would take at face value and not pry further into.

Despite the heady, floral aroma wafting through the air, hate still lingered within Kaname’s heart. He quickly recalled his Galarian Slowking to its pokeball in a flash of red light, all the while trying to shake off the feelings burning him from the inside out. [break][break]

Hate for fern delaney , resentment for his family, contempt for himself erupted, stoked by the power of the Ruinous Beast. [break][break]

It was Chien-Pao’s aura and the influence of the tera crystals drew out the venom lingering inside the Head Scientist’s heart and made it manifest. Purple ichor roiled up from the ground in front of Kaname, pouring forth until it took a humanoid shape before him. The creature did not have one face, but seemed to constantly shift between several familiar faces; among them were his parents, fern delaney , and even himself. [break][break]

Face to face with things he hates the most, Kaname snatches up the pokeball he stowed away earlier and presses the button, unleashing the extraterrestrial from the capsule. Red light flashes between the scientist and monster as Deoxys emerges between them. “Deoxys, destroy it.” His voice was hot with rage. [break][break]

The crystalline organ embedded within the alien’s chest began to glow. A ball of energy is quickly formed between Deoxys’ tentacles and fired point blank into the oozing creature, causing it to erupt into a shower of ichor.[break][break]

(TL;DR: Kaname returns G!Slowking, pulls out Deoxys who then uses Psycho Boost to blow up his hate monster.)

“Did you enjoy that? It’s a nice sake, imported from Kanto.” The scientist sounded rather proud of the fact, despite the fact he was dodging Kouji’s questions. “Things come much easier to me now. Perks of the promotion, I guess.” Kaname watched that smile grow more off putting, perhaps even more cruel. A predator’s smile, the mark of a hunter circling his prey.[break][break]

“Why do you care about rank, Kouji? Why does where I sit, versus where you sit matter? I want us to collaborate, together. There’s nothing evil about that. Not that I’d ever have pegged you for someone worried about evil.” Kaname approached Kouji, closing what distance remained between them and extended his hand, waiting for the flask.[break][break]

“Trust is important, I agree. It’s a reflection of those who share it. That’s precisely why we should be a pair, because we can trust each other to be exactly who we are.” Kaname leaned in, his voice softer than before. [break][break]

“I don’t need dumb muscle to break kneecaps, I’ve got plenty of grunts for that… I need a lycanroc, Kouji. I need someone refined but feral, someone predatory. What I need is someone who can go out into the world and execute for me what I am not able to. And when I find that person, I’m willing to give that person the world and be a springboard for their desires.” There was a short pause, as Kaname’s eyes met Kouji’s cold, golden gaze.[break][break]

“Do you know why? Because it’ll never be enough for me. I want more. I need more. More money, more material, more knowledge, more power. All of it.”
