Pushing forward in a battle like this one wasn’t something that was coming easy, his Tyranitar had been knocked back even after making the sound, drawing attention to itself was not the greatest of ideas perhaps. ”Rock Slide.” He stated the move in a more direct manner, it would make working in tandem a little bit easier in the future.

The rocks coalesced into blocks that fell upon the steel type, it was a type disadvantage, but they had a tendency to get in the way of their opponent. It was something that he was going to be counting on.

There was another pokemon coming, Altaria from the looks of it, Kouji couldn’t tell just yet, but the moment it had been placed down, the pokemon in question had been a Pancham. A young one by the looks of it, letting a future Dark Type just get hurt like that wasn’t something he was up for.

His pokemon had managed to deal with the falling rocks, but nothing else really; Honchkrow seemed a little down about that so Kouji just patted his head before looking to the smaller pokemon. ”Yeah, everyone’s good here. Good save.” From the looks of it, they might’ve been another civilian? They didn’t have the gait of someone who fought. Yet even those who were living entirely normal lives couldn’t help but find themselves within combat in these perilous times.

Still stretched out to feel the bones in his back pop, and then patted down his clothes from the dust that had begun to cling to it. He was more used to dressing in darker colours, but here he wore gray joggers. It made it far more easy to move around in a place like this. ”You saved our bacon there.”

”Kouma by the way, you here to catch pokemon as well? This little tyke might be up your alley, I’ve got something else in sight.” Not him directly, but his Absol did indeed have its eyes on a pokemon, shooting off a Psycho cut. The purple wave travelled, followed by a pokeball thrown by Kouji.

Shaking off dust wasn’t something that was required for those who spent all their time between battles, but sitting as some kind of shopkeep for a little while wasn’t exactly that. Kouji knew the moment he stepped onto the field here, this wasn’t the standard kind of fight. This was the kind of battle that would push people to their limits. A legendary pokemon, grown to gargantuan sizes, it felt almost nostalgic.

It didn’t matter, Kouji withdrew his pokeball, and released his Tyranitar. ”Ah, guess you’d be here.” His eyes landed on Hitoshi Inoue rather quickly, there were a lot of familiar faces, but this wasn’t the moment to concentrate on that one. ”Crack its defences. Route SH.”

Tyranitar did exactly as instructed, the large dark type took in a deep breath, its armoured body creaked as its lungs pulled in as much air as possible, almost expanding before releasing a shriek of a sound, as if attempting to shatter every piece of glass in the area, or perhaps only ears, yet it was a sound that focused itself on their foe.

If there was anything he could do in this situation to not come off as a complete weirdo, well Kouji couldn’t figure it out. Thankfully, he was the man known as Kouma, a proper member of society who wouldn’t ever terrify a girl, especially one as small as this one.

Or so he told himself, he wasn’t sure what his intentions actually were, he was older now, did that mean he was supposed to be wiser too? Time was a strange thing, and in a region such as this one, even the permanence of its march wasn’t guaranteed. He jumped forward, and perhaps he would jump back too.

Kouji ran a hand through his hair as he looked at the surroundings, it was filled with pokemon just out of sight. It was the small signs, of the bushes moving, of trees wriggling, of water splashing. It was the bridge, the hard rock ahead, and the cave mouths that ushered others in.

The tall grass itself was also suspicious, but he didn’t mind that either. It wasn’t uncomfortable being here, Absol almost seemed to be at home. The Dark type looked around carefully, focus being pushed on even further, it was time to bolster their forces after losses at their last combat.

”Guess I might find some tough pokemon, or maybe even people.” Though the sight of a familiar person up ahead was something else, it might end up being something more interesting than usual, so he threw a rock at the child.

The mountains weren’t an easy place to exist in, fighting in a place like this wasn’t something he wanted to be doing either. It was too treacherous, a tiny mistake would be a fall to one’s own death, Kouji wasn’t uncomfortable about dying anymore, but it coming from his own mistaken enthusiasm would be too embarrassing to bare.

But a small cry did catch his attention, was it a pokemon up in the air, falling to its own death? From here he couldn’t really tell, but at the very least he had come here to catch something, so it’d be a shame if they culled themselves. Even if it was the natural course, something he didn’t usually mess with.

The cliffside broke, falling atop him, yet he called up his Honchkrow, the pokemon using a flap of its wings to create a gust to cut through the rock before flying to try to catch the pokemon, but his own move displaced it.

Maybe someone else could save it?

An easy job was something that isn’t supposed to be expected, especially for a group such as this one. Kouji was once more pushing the envelope on this, and the man he was talking with was Theo Beckett, a man he had a continually growing level of respect for. It was a matter of tests now, Kouji was only fully confident when it came to the physical stuff, the rest would be a challenge.

Kouji sighed, and handed the cash over to the admin. ”Glory to Rocket.” He spoke with conviction before he flopped over in his seat, and placed his head onto the dashboard with a loud thud. It was a significant sound, he sunk into that position before the gears in his head turned, a smirk upon his face.

”As the so called great asset, I’m sure you wouldn’t mind lending me your car, or driving me to Rustboro twice a week, right?” He said as he began to sit back up, and patted the man on the shoulder, an awkward movement in his current position but he still managed to put some strength into the action itself.

Kouji sighed, it was a long deep sigh that came from the very depths of his lungs. He wondered just when it had become like this, when he became so poor at a lie? He looked over to the speaker before he addressed the man. ”Let me get a double great Taurus meal, a milktank shake, another milktank shake…What flavour you want?” Even though he was shouting across the driver’s seat towards the speaker.
