Kouji had met with Tempest Quinn a few times, the most recent had been a couple of days prior, when the man had beaten him up royally, and forced him to rest. But it wasn’t until this very moment he had made that connection.

And that brought forward a grin on his face.

”Hahaha, I guess that makes you a real brawler too huh? I don’t imagine that Tempest going for anyone that isn’t.” That brought his excitement up, he wanted to jump up to his feet immediately, but hissed and allowed himself to fall back onto his ass. Kouji couldn’t help but sigh.

”Yeah, once we’re done cosplaying…I’ll be sure to take you up on that offer sir.” But all the same, he wanted to know what an Avatar was like for real, none of the ones he had fought had used those legendaries.

”Hey, once we’re recovered. Mind taking me on in a pokemon battle? Wouldn’t be fair if we hogged all the fun to just ourselves.”

Kouji gritted his teeth harshly, before he looked at the destruction his pokemon had wrought on each other, it was a constant war that was going on amongst his pokemon, but at the same time it was one of the many things that had been unbalancing him at the moment.

”Like I said, brat. I don’t run, and neither do they.”
[break][break]
His pokemon had grown too fast.
[break][break]
”Fuck…Guess I ain’t got a choice.” He said as he ran out; ran forward as he jumped onto his roaring moon, it roared as it began to rise again into the air. ”Oi, don’t get near Hydreigon, I’ll deal with the idiot. Use Acrobatic, and keep moving.” He said as his pokemon did as it was told, one he could get to listen to him.

Iron Jugulis had a different idea as it was empowered and rushed into the air as the electric waves around the place ‘charged’ it as Naomi Sato had referred to it, a phenomena that was now causing to head to the Dragon in the sky, not the many that flew towards them, but the singular that was raining meteors into the surroundings.

”Crash in-” It seemed that Roaring Moon knew his words moments before he spoke it, crashed into Iron Jugulis, and then Kouji had a choice to make in that moment, and he took the one that came to him first; crashing into the Iron Dragon that he hated.

He had to pick one, and so he withdrew Hydreigon.

”Use Hyper Voice.” He shouted, and the creature released a large shout that spread across the distance like a wave.

”If I get squashed like a bug, I deserved to get squashed like a bug,”

He couldn’t shrug comfortably to be able to properly express his emotion, but his lone eye did; the vigor disappeared from it but then he saw the fights he had seen. A legendary was a different creature, Cobalion had shown him it.

”I ain’t cocky enough to think I can beat one, not yet.” He said as he cracked his neck both ways; the kinks building. ”But, I’ll try if I ever have to, I don’t like running away.” He hadn’t, that was why he was the he had been right now, but at the same time.

He was still alive.

Yet, there was one thing that sat in his mind.

”So you’re the kind of anger that gets more dangerous huh? I’d love to fight ya when you’re angry.” He said with a chuckle, a sound that lightened up the atmosphere for the boy who refused to read the room.

”Just try not to squash me like a bug.”

”So Matias will lose his cool if I aim for Groudon huh? Y’know, angry people are careless.”

It wasn’t like Kouji was blind to the change in atmosphere, you’d have to be blind in order to miss that fact. It wasn’t a lack of self-preservation either, though many who’d known him for a while would doubt its existence. It was a simple surmisation, a way to win in a fight, and a path of victory through violence…

The things he thought off, his one track mind at play.

”Way easier to slice up. You shouldn’t tell people that…To kill someone slow means that you hold extra anger for them; or you’re crazy.” Kouji said as he looked at Gavin, he wasn’t sure which one he’d assign to the man.

Two injured men, sitting in the room meant for combat.

”I wonder, which one are you…No, that’s not important, forget it.”

Kouji faltered, his movements seemed to sputter to a stop as he heard that line, as if the fire that was making his engine churn, as clogged as it was, came to a halt. A guttural sound escaped his throat as he looked at the man, the warrior, across from him.

”The hell you mean I ain’t worth fighting? Who the hell are you?” Kouji said as he began to bounce on his feet, and yet it lacked the rhythm his footwork usually held, his eyes lacked the luster, his words lacked the fire.

He knew the truth behind those words, and yet, and yet…He couldn’t do anything but fight. Urshifu followed his movements, trailing behind, as blood marred their bodies, their forms, their faces, all of it.

”Then come beat me if you think you can beat us.” He said as he charged forward again, leaned forward heavily; his arm followed over his head, an overhead with everything he had in it, a charge, a dropping of his weight, all of it.

Urshifu followed him, a strike that was without peer, his Reversal, to turn all the damage he had taken into offensive force lacking the dark-type he was fond of, instead using his own fighting spirit.

Yet that spirit burned dimly.

Kouji had sought to think things through more, to use the little gray cells that sat within his cranium. ”The hell was that?” That wasn’t trust, or an awareness of the future but recklessness.

Kouji couldn’t stand it, but…

”Fuck it, we roll.” He said as he began to chase after her, the flow of these rooms, the turns of the alleyways; the depth of tension, Kouji knew this sensation, and he missed it. Using his mind was hard, thinking his actions through, to plot ahead of those he was faced against.

There was none of that in that moment, Kouji charged ahead, bowled ahead, his hand went straight into his pocket, his knife flicked out; the glint of his mega stones caught the light for a moment as he turned the corner; and threw the knife at one of the guards, the other seemed to freeze at the sight of his uniform, Kouji didn’t miss that moment to tackle the man.

”Take the room, I’ll be right behind ya.”

Kouji looked at the man across from him, a blank expression on his face as he looked at the answer across from him.

There was a simple truth, to knowing that this man was an Avatar, that he was like the two he wanted to beat, and so he asked the question that lied within his mind.

”So, as an Avatar, how would I kill you?”

From the day he was born, the only thing he existed for was to be a weapon for his father to use, in order to rise up rocket until the day that same weapon turned against him; and existing as a weapon was the only thing in his mind. The kind that needed a wielder, unlike the man across from him.

”If I can figure out how to kill you, I’d be able to figure out how to kill him.”

”That just means I’m at my best.”

Kouji allowed himself to show a smirk even if it made his swollen face hurt even more.

Kouji knew what he needed to do, to sit down, and back away from the fight; but instead he leaned into it.

To punch something was what he needed, so he raised one of his fists before his face, ready, standing in a stance; before he slid his crutch forward, and then followed it. He couldn’t rest all of his weight on his arm, nor lift himself up; merely throwing himself forward in a large hook.

He hated just how slow and heavy his movements were.

Kouji knew how to move, and yet the same couldn’t be said of his pokemon, this trio were some of his strongest, but most difficult to control; at the same time? They were a problem that even they couldn’t contain.

Hydreigon opened with his draco meteor, a powerful ball of light that shot into the sky, before it began to rain down with large rocks formed from his energy, with no regard for ally nor enemy.
[break][break]
Yet his Roaring Moon had sought to go into the very fray of battle itself, biting, scratching; and flying around at exceptional speeds, yet it was in the target range, and thus it was struck by the thunderwave at the same time as the rest of its enemies…Which had devastating consequences the moment the rocks started to fall from above, the false meteor crashed on his back, and took him straight down towards the ground.

Iron Jugulis, had the easiest and most difficult time perhaps as it released an electric terrain, to increase the odds on their side; electric currents began to run rampant across the battlefield, empowering electric type moves even further. The LED’s that made up his face began to light up even brighter, power ran through his body.

Yet even with that, the onslaught did not end, as the sky filled more and more, as if to replace their fallen brethren.

”These guys just don’t stop huh?” And that was the moment they started to drop…Apples? It crashed against the ground like bombs.

What would he do if Rocket lost?

But even Kouji, as short-sighted as he was, knew better than to voice that statement. It didn’t serve any kind of purpose. ”So you just want me to watch a bunch of…People?” He said as he looked around the place.

”Haaaah…That’s easy.” He said as his golden eyes scoured the area, landing on person to person. ”Guy, middle aged, grey hair…Has a rotom-phone, an expensive watch, and what looks like a heavy wallet. Woman, young, could be a teenager…Purse is packed full, most likely a change of clothes…Hm…Old man in the back, left pocket is bulging, has a cane, his left pocket is filled but left is empty, so he probably favors that left leg.” His voice began low, almost a whisper, but gradually rose up in pitch as he spoke until he caught himself and slowed down again.

This was one small thing Kouji was confident in, having done this for years, he was always looking for a mark, someone to rob, but perhaps he was missing the purpose of the exercise. ”Hope you’re ready to buy a lot of food, I eat a ton.”

Kouji considered the question, and pondered on it for a moment, a loud hum as he put cupped his chin and looked at Naomi’s Iron Jugulis, he hated that pokemon, and he hated the one he had caught even more. He was sure that pokemon knew the move it had used, Electric Terrain, but at the same time, it wasn’t friendly to him, it didn’t listen to him, and he wanted to get rid of that pokeball in a moment.

Only selfishness, and greed stopped him from doing so.

”No.” He lied. ”Only Sunny Day across a few pokemon, but I’m trying to teach them more.” Yet at the same time, he didn’t know for certain what types of moves remained within the black box that was an Iron Jugulis.

”If this one is charging from Sunlight, just like a plant…Then would rain make him slower? Or would strong winds make that fake Hydreigon fly faster? Can they all charge?” Was it the same thing?

”How about you, do you have any other of those area moves? We can check with two of them. ”
