Were it not for his well timed reactions; Kouji forced his pokemon back to the Pokeball just as the Earth Spike shot up, it was a small shift in his position, a hop; and a jump into the air as he moved his foot into the way; spiked through as it rose and dragged him up into the air.

A scream broke through his lungs as he was lifted by his foot, the spike mangled the bones in that same foot as he was flung; his other leg kicked off, but that merely led him to crash down onto the ground.

”Goddamnit, the fuck. You one of those thingies as well?” What the hell were they called? He gripped his bleeding foot, he adjusted his position, and tried to stand on his foot only to stumble before he reached for another pokeball. He threw it forward; the red flash that appeared in that moment showed another, a Houndoom which roared in that moment as if showing the pain his trainer most definitely felt.

Kouji was self assured in the fact he was not a good man, but the simple option that came from the trainer having his pokemon take itself out, to force herself into death; it was a terrible decision.

Kouji’s Scrafty attacked, the beat up took place it was too late to pull back, and the Perish song struck in a moment, the pokemon were taken down together.

Kouji was somewhat fortunate it had been a shadow, not Scrafty directly, but even so as the timer went down, one more shadow disappeared with each…Just how much longer till Scrafty.

”Sacrificing already huh? You sure you ain’t the villain instead of me?”

Kouji looked at the Jynx, at the trainer, and then released his own Scrafty just at the Powder Snow hit, it was a cold hit; one that made even him, with his high defence against such moves, shiver.

”Don’t back down. Beat Up.” He said to his Scrafty; dark shadows jumped from him, forming into strange shapes that eventually turned into shapes resembling his other pokemon; though their numbers were only three high, the rest were too knocked out, and he too far from a point of healing.

Yet they jumped out, as if to get involved into the fray of combat, jumping to attack the Jynx.

Kouji heard the sounds and growled. ”I’ve got this, stay the hell outta it!” He said as he shouted aloud, but as they touched down at his position, Kouji was ignored by the superior. He stepped forward; gripped him by the shoulder, and pulled.

”It’s not just you here brat. Now shut the hell up and step in line.” The taller woman spoke, her red eyes bore into him as if to get him to shut up. Kouji considered it, with Drapion out, and their pokemon still in their balls, he was sure he could kill them…

But instead, he shouted into the mist. ”Oi, we’re not done here. We’ll battle again, just watch. I’ll beat you next time!” He said as he took Drapion into his pokeball, and walked away, he wouldn’t catch her when things were like this.

He hated help in winning a fight.

The rest however decided to run into the mists.

Kouji was tired; his body was changed; his body was strained, his body was in pain, but he was out of range…Into the maws of yet another creature, another beast. He could tell with a glance, this was one of the Elite Four, famous across the region.

”Foe.” His answer was simple, he wasn’t sure if the rage that flowed through him was due to the space itself, or if it was a side effect of the paranoia that affected those in this place.

The breeze was cold; Kouji could feel the breeze that threatened to gust nip at his cheeks which had already turned red from the temperature. His golden eyes looked out at the street in front, soaked through; the ground reflected the streetlamps above, and the moon far above that even. People moved in many a direction, and yet there was one flow that was more obvious than others.

Those that slipped into a gap between buildings, between the crevices of two homes. If rats existed in the crevices of one’s walls, just what kind of rodents would be found in the crevices between homes. Kouji couldn’t help but smile, it was subtle, barely precitible, but they were his kind of people, it was a shame he would have to crush them. But he had long since accepted he was happy to do whatever it took for rocket, to destroy regardless of means, regardless of feelings.

Yet, he was a recruit of barely a month.

The disconnect was there for everyone who was not him, but he looked over his shoulder; at the person who he was paired with for this mission. ”Hey, you’re Zev ain’t ya? A big bad rocket monster huh?” He knew the position was called beast, but to think he’d be paired with someone of that caliber.

”Is that really needed? I can get guys like this in line really quick.” It wasn’t like they were a member of the Elite four, Kouji felt supremely confident in this fact.

Kouji looked at the woman who seemed insane to him, but he seemed insane to her as well, Melody huh? Her pokemon lived on a whole different level to Absol even now, he could see the energy coalesce, the great growth in its horn. ”Dodge!” He shouted but his pokemon didn’t listen, instead; his own horn began to grow in that moment as a challenge, a first hit of sorts.

That was the thing with pride, when people got all tied up into it, when creatures had let it infest them…It was something difficult to shake off. It was a sin that was like a poison, and even Kouji could feel it invade his heart. ”No…I understand. Do your best.” He said to the Absol, trainer and pokemon were united as one. They didn’t feel as if they could loose as Absol began to charge forward to meet the attack.

So, if his pokemon was busy trying to win in the physical plane, Kouji felt the words come out simply. ”Maybe? I don’t know. Maybe I am. But, I love my pokemon no less than anyone else. They’re my buddies, my only friends.” He could say that without any fear, without any worry, without any derision in his voice.

”If they get hurt or killed, i’d make sure to kill you. That’s why, I don’t blame ya. Come for my throat, or shut up.”

Kouji couldn’t believe something such as that creature could be considered to be beautiful, it was disgusting, it was dirty; it showed a future he did not like…But that was why he was certain it was a dark type pokemon, the creatures that showed you a glimpse of the impossible and dirty future…

They were the creatures that showed you the worst parts of what it was to be alive, what were the worst parts of what it meant to exist…To be the worst of yourself, and still accept yourself.

”You’re fucking blind.”

But he still grinned as he took out his own pokemon in that moment, it was a strange creature, it was the first time he had allowed it to see the day…But it roared out loud in an impossible tone, it came from a time long ago, and he would use it to seize an impossible future.

Because even the distant past was his to grip, as one who had conquered his own.

”You’re up.” He said to the Roaring Moon.

She roared as she entered the fray, the pride of a dragon from long ago, linked to a certain phenomena, and filled with a certain kind of energy, yet she looked her eyes onto another of her kind.

”jaw Lock.” She charged forward, soared through the air as if to lock the creature in front of her into place, to keep it still as the Rollout crashed into the Iron Jugulis, the multiwinged creature forced towards the ground.

There was one reason as to why the past existed, and that was to keep the future solidly looked to the present, and to keep it intimately connected to the earth, that was why that Rollout could not, and would not miss.

Kouji found himself spitting at the floor; it was disgusting, so self serving, the words this Navy spoke; so starry eyed. It was the thing he couldn’t handle about this person’s past, it was dirty, it was unclean, it was tragic, it was similar to his own, and yet he sought for a bright, starry future, the future of Dreams

”Then I’d rather be an animal.” Kouji’s answer was simple, it was straight forward. ”You hear this guy Meowscarada?” He said with a smirk, his voice was filled with amusement, mirth, a bit of joy. He wanted to knock those silly thoughts out of this man’s head.

”You actually think we’re any different from animal, pokemon and humans aren’t any different. We just delude ourselves into thinking it, dreams are just delusions, they’re not a road…They’re a crutch. Only reality matters, and the things that your fists can strike. I’ll strike down any illusion that will get in my way.”

”You don’t make any truth, you just destroy everyone elses’s until your own is made, show him what that is.” He spoke with confidence, with certainty, he was aware of it, and he would make it come true.

Because that was the only thing the animal known as Matsubara Kouji would be able to do.

”You’re too silly, now, take them apart, bird or not.” He said as Meowscarada did her dance, she began to move; switching with Roland at his height as she failed to keep up; and yet, she took the first strike to her chest.

Because being a creature without dreams was to be a creature that lived and existed surrounded in wounds. She threw her first bouquet, it would always hurt far more than it should have, it always struck at a creature’s core, because as a Flower Trick…It was the thing that acted as a gift, as a ticket to one’s heart, as a false dream, before the final explosion showed it was a mere lie.

It was a move that showed only the harsh cold reality existed.

Kouji looked at the young woman with a smirk; he looked at the pearl he was pulling free and then threw the pokemon to Eris. ”Feel free to return her, here’s the pokeball.” He said as he smirked.

He looked at her, his smirk never faded; he looked at the pokemon that he had passed over. ”I’m ready to fight any time, but next time…I’ll be ready to kick you even if you’re a kid.” He said to the girl only four years younger than himself. He’d been in death battles with people twice his age, it was only natural for something for him to go for.

Still, he looked at his Meowscarada that had been bowled over, and she adjusted with a flip even if she favored one of her legs.

A stalemate.

The earth shook underneath Drapion; who took the damage directly’ as if the vibrations were shaking about each of his organs, blood spurted out of his mouth. He looked on at the Clodsire in front of him; forcing himself step by step, until the moment he could step in front of the pokemon.

”Don’t fucking give up, you’ve got this boy.” The violent creature that had caused him issues before had finally gone forward, and forced himself forward for his trainer, before the darkness coalesced in his claws, in his pincers before he crossed over his chest, a strong strike.

”That’s it. You’re stronger than you know.” He encouraged Drapion as it fought ahead, more than half of his strength taken from him in a singular strike.

Kouji looked at Meowscarada as the world changed; it wasn’t the world, but what was coming to take over. The birds above, the issues above; it was as if they were evil gods looking down on their machine world. Like the DELIBIRD overlord looked over each interaction, from the lesses atom, to the greatest maverick, and decided each interaction.

”I’d rather stay awake.” Kouji’s answer was simple. ”I can’t handle anything fake, I hate it more than anything else.” He could handle honestly regardless of whatever color it takes.

It was the truth of it, even as the bird, hung over them. He didn’t back down in the slightest. ”They’re strong, beyond strong. Get ready guys. Form a line, create trenches.” Meowscarada who knew his tactic knew what she needed to do.

Without Absol, it was a far more difficult task, but she did; dived into the earth, and threw her bouquets up into the air and then created holes into the earth that connected to each other; the humans which ran were turned into sprays of blood. There was no reaction from Kouji, but they were fake to begin with.

Kouji hated what he saw next, a society that worked like a singular well oiled machine. It looked out at him, and he felt the rejection immediately. Everyone knew their place, everyone knew their role, and everyone’s lives had been decided in a moment. It was something he could see as someone who was rejected from the moment he was born…No forced outside of it the moment he was born.

It was disgusting.

”They’re fake. They’re like living dreams.” Kouji said, it was like he could smell their truth. ”I hate it. I saw two of the same one before…It’s like it was reflecting my heart, it looked like Hydreigon.”

Kouji looked at the iron bundle, the pokemon that waved to children. ”Destroy it Meowscarada.” Children didn’t need something coddling them, being soft to them, having things given to them…For nothing.

It was something that he hated more than anything else, and he couldn’t really understand why either. It was like it raised all of his hackles. He looked at the creature, and his pokemon began to move; it was something that represented both her strength and her weakness.

She charged forward, a Pollen Puff that she shot forward, and then raced through just as a beam of ice had hit her; healed, and hurt in the same instant which allowed her to fight even quicker.

But she followed it with a fists covered in pink; her knees, her feet, and then she charged; throwing attack after attack. Calling merely “playing” rough was wrong, she was being violently rough.
