You couldn’t help but agree with the assessment, looking at the pokeball; you felt the forming bruise, and so you looked at the pokeball in your hand, and drew your Absol back into it. ”Yeah…Fuck this place. I want out.” You knew that it would only get worse, deeper, and more frightening as you left this place.

That was fine, you could deal with that.

”I ain’t gonna argue with the guy who caught that monster bug anyway.” You said as you began to dust yourself off slowly; creaks and cracks; that was the sensation you felt. As if you had just aged by a good thirty years, you merely had to go for that crack, those pathways into a lost realm.

So you left, began to move; step by step.

As the great dragon is forced to fall, Kouji covers his head from the falling glass; any space he could get was space he wanted, needed. He looked on at the sight in front of him, of the powerful warrior bears, and the dragon that sought to fight them on its own.

That was fine, a rain of blows that would fall down on them in battle and a rain of blows that fell down on their enemy. The great dragon would fall on this night, and they were assured of it as it crashed down towards the ground with a great boom.

It was to fall, it was to die, it was to end; and as it finally exploded outwards into a flood of blackness, a tar that spread across the ground; and from it rises another dragon; Kouji’s eyes widened a little.

”Tch. You again huh?” It held three heads, red as could be, and boring down into those that came from it. The tar which swallowed their environment, ate up all the surrounding buildings, the future of compromise was replaced by the future of consumption as great fires started to erupt from each corner.

Those fires began to release a charge of electricity that spread across the environment, and then into that Iron Jugulis, before it released a roar.

Yet it was a roar that lacked the true majesty of a dragon, it was mechanical, it was dark; it was airy, but it was not majestic.

”Aye aye sir.” His voice was filled with mirth as his Scrafty moved against the copperajah, it was a competitive fight regardless of the kind of interaction they had.

Low Kick had caused it to fall, but the Copperajah returned the blow with a heat crash, a searing heat that even Kouji could feel from where he stood. ”Not bad huh…” He muttered to himself just as Scrafty managed to remove itself from the far larger, burning creature.

That was until shadows started to form from around him, a series of dark shapes that took on the look of his other Pokémon before they began to move; attacking from a variety of angles, using the power of numbers on their end. That was one of his favourite moves, beat up[/b.

Kouji chuckled as he heard her reply. Maybe he wouldn’t get the chance, but that was just fine, now he had a tense pokemon battle to enjoy for at least a little while.

He looked at the Tentacruel that was attempting to pin down his Drapion, there was a definite haze in his eyes as he was hit with the Hex; his eyes rolled for a moment before a shock went through his body, a roar echoed from him as he felt the relentless internal strike.

Drapion smashed its own head off the ground to get rid of the pain, knocking free some of the severed tentacles gripping into him.

And then another smash; his forehead bled, and yet there was a red haze to his eyes, he dashed forward at a low angle; he raised his rear before leaping forward with the added momentum; the feeling of his crossed pincers that were to strike, a cross poison that had all of his weight behind it.

”That’s it boy.”

You couldn’t believe the way that things turned out in such a small space of time; it was a complete change in the flow of things, in the depths of this darkness, the thing that crawled up your spine was a shiver.

Was it excitement that made your heart pump, or was it that one emotion, a thing you would not allow yourself to acknowledge, that this very world forced you to take in mind, to grasp and confirm.

That was why you let loose the breath that had been locked up in your lungs, the key was found, and that key was a pokeball; the red flash, the disappearance of the creature, and the rocking; side to side.

It rocked one way, it rocked the other, and returned again; your eyes never left it for a moment; even as the light began to dip; the red light around the circle. There was something to it, you could feel it; even in a dream like this.

”Did we…”

You didn’t complete it, you did not want to jinx it, but it had stopped moving, and with it; you could breath once more.

Kouji’s eyes didn’t move from the battle, yet his lips moved by instinct, a smirk that was slowly turning into a grin.

”Yeah yeah, whatever you say Bolt Humper.”

Still, the moment that had been bought was created in order to allow him to dance, and Roaring Moon did so; the shaking of scales as they clashed against one another; the powerful whip of its tail, the fluttering of his wings, and then the final roar as his power increased, sky rocketed in a moment just for him to be able to stand on the same place as this electric field powered monstrosity from a strange future.

”Lock it down.” He shouted to his pokemon, a plea as much as it was a command; he hated seeing it, it disgusted him, he wanted it wiped out and deleted from existence if nothing else.

But that wasn’t possible, he wouldn’t do it, and so he had his Roaring Moon lock down the Iron Jugulis mid-outrage, it was a clash, dragon move met dragon move; draconic energies raged for a moment before he managed to lock his jaws down onto the central neck; before slamming the both of them against the ground once more.

”Let’s clean this up, Future Nutt, I’ll leave that thing’s future to you.”

Kouji gripped the scatterbangs in his hand; between each finger within the depths of this battle, the thickness of it; the smell of it, and then he threw it up; a collection right underneath the creature being pinned down.

A blow one could not see was a blow to be reckoned with.

That was why in its moment of blindness, after being struck by 8 scatterbangs, Urshifu leapt up. Nameless, without a singular name to him, recently born, and yet; it was born of violence, of hate, and of everything those kinds of feelings represented. Yet, that darkness didn’t cloak his fists in that moment.

It was a silver glow that covered his head just as the dragon let loose a wanton wave of blue and black energy in a pulse. Still he charged head on against his foe, and crashed against the stomach of the dragon with an Iron Head.

Yet the battle would continue, for as long as this war would go.

The changed world; it was an ideal world…

No, it was their world, and that was why it wasn’t the ideal world, it wasn’t the Hoenn anyone sought, it was a middle ground; represented by the moon above, he had seen it before, he had fought him before, he had come out on top before.

But not with this beating sun that increased this draconian monster’s power even further, and the moon which reflected the sun itself roared, a powerful roar that whipped up a great wind, and then the flames that came from it, met by surging strikes of water that split the red sea of flames.

Kouji understood this world well, but at the same time…

”Yeah, let’s split this guy’s head.” Kouji answered as his fists clenched once more, and the creature behind him responded to that will, to that energy, and released a wicked blow, a powerful strike that split the sky.

A strike that sought to reach the sky as it split it; the artificial sun was dispersed in a singular blow before Kouji looked back at the Roaring Moon.

It was a great slash, a powerful one; Kouji now understood why it had been given that name; it was a great sword that would end any battle, it would close all possibilities of victory in a flash, even with Detect, even as Absol saw a future, it wasn’t one in which they won.

The great sword swung; it was a wide swing; Shiftry was the first struck by it; thrown into a rock, and out like a light, were it not for the kind nature of that pokemon, it would have been instant death, but this was not the case as it was merely out cold.

Absol was the next struck as it tried to leap, the sword hit, and he found himself being flung off into the distance, bouncing across the floor like a rock against the ground, and Kouji saw it, the strike pass just in front of him as he fell onto his ass.

Wide-eyed, the ground in front of him cracked, cratered, and then finally collapsed into itself as it began to fall apart all around him, into the great depths, into…Another zone.

”Holy…Shit.” He had…Survived, it wasn’t a win in his book, but he had somehow come out on ‘top’.

Yet he wanted to fight here again, a real fight.

As they walked and Zev explained the difference, Kouji listened and nodded; it was annoying, frustrating, but it did make sense. He wanted to bowl everything over, it had worked for him as long as he could remember, and when it didn’t…It was never his own fault, but right now, he had seen the quickest way to do it. He wanted to argue, to state he could have taken them all; but that wasn’t the result.

Finally came the question, Kouji didn’t take a moment to think about it, just like everything else, he answered the moment the answer came to his head. ”A lump of Iron.” It didn’t take a moment, nor did it take much for him to explain why. He didn’t sound uncertain, perhaps a little frustration managed to seep into his tone. ”You can make that into whatever you want, but something crafted’s complete. I ain’t sharp, I ain’t bright, I ain’t expensive either. There’s only thing I can do well.”

”And that’s hit things really hard.” He answered, yet; unlike all the other times he had stated it, he couldn’t puff out his chest, the words themselves felt like bile in his mouth. There was no pride in that statement, it was a line he had said many times, and yet this was the first time it hadn’t felt good.

”I…” He let the words die on his lips, just before he spoke them into existence. He knew his answer had been the wrong answer, but he had a way of life, he was never supposed to be the thinker, the traitor was. But now, here he was, having to think.

A world of the strong, a world of the powerful; and yet its denizens were being scattered by punches. Kouji could feel the flow of wind, a tumultuous thing that had been caused by the constantly flowing strikes, like water itself. It was a cool wind unlike the scorching earth, but he drew his fist back once more.

And the creature behind him did the same thing, and that was when he realized, that he wasn’t alone. It was the first moment, but lucidity returned to him in full. He threw it forward and it was mirrored, a punch that split the earth in front of them and sent the Fluttermanes flying, scattered in all directions.

It was wicked, he knew; but he enjoyed it, being in this world; it was scorched, it was beaten, it was a world where only strength meant something. It was like a reflection of his own heart, and now he was ruling over its denizens as the strongest, together with that which was birthed from his heart, he fought, he punched, and then…He punched again.

A world where only strength matters, and yet; he had risen upwards, towards the top, and understood in that moment, that world with a ‘strongest’ was not a world he wanted to live in. A single sided strength, a single-minded strength, a single-dimensional strength.

He didn’t want to win over a world whose only virtue was in mere strength.

The deal was done in a moment, and Kouji hadn’t even noticed the drug peddling, it seemed so obvious in hindsight, he had done the same, a simple peddler back when he first dropped out of school. He stopped short of slapping his forehead onto his face, and drew back his Absol instead as Zev began to leave.

He waited, until a quiet moment, until they were far enough away from the rest, and then he finally asked the burning question that had been on his mind. ”What’s the difference?” Was it about the rates? Was it about the drugs? Was it about their methods? Their background? Their History?

He didn’t know the first time he had asked the question, but the second time he most certainly had an idea.

”What’s the difference between how I handled the opening, and the way you handled the discussion? We were both violent, I don’t get it.” That was perhaps the most burning question on his mind as they moved beyond the crowd, just in time for a final cheer as a head flew across their way, a human head.

And he could only see a bloody machop, inside a blood covered stage.

Really, what was it? He couldn’t figure it out, and that was what annoyed him. He had failed, he knew he had failed, but he couldn’t figure out why.
