There are no exits. However, there is a plaque that reads: "find the Ditto and you will be granted escape."

There was a constant pressure on their shoulder when in Sootopolis, and Kouji had a rough idea as to why. But the more important question here was something else, just what was the purpose.

”Aye, there’s warehouses to stash ‘em too.” So he walked towards the warehouses with intent, he brought out his pokemon, Houndoom, hopefully a good nose would be able to smell anything suspicious out.

It wasn’t too long a journey towards the docks, Kouji looked around for anything strange, but it was operation as normal. A lot of moving parts, heavy pokemon around to aid them out, and perhaps even the hint of some joy?

It looked like a good day for work, so maybe.

”Might as well look for anyone acting a little down, seems that the work-day is lighter than normal, so only guys that’d be gutted about that are the bosses and someone with something to hide.” It was a small hint, it wasn’t reliable, but it was better than searching warehouse by warehouse.

”We’ll ask the guys near anyone suspicious some questions.”

Eventually, throughout the battle, each of you are struck by an Unown's HIDDEN POWER, causing you to warp away into another location entirely.

Kouji let out a smirk at that.

”Don’t think you’re getting ahead of me.” He said as he went for his knives, one in each hand, a back grip before bouncing on his feet. He really needed to get some trench knives attached to some knuckles at some point. Still, he dashed forward low, beginning the first strike one of the women who came out from the shadows, a glint in the corner of his eyes barely allowed him to dodge a large sphere of ice that appeared at his feet.

So he continued to attack, again and again, delivering strike after strike. Because that was true, it was just a simulation, they’d play around until they had their fill of this world, then they’d move onto another.

It might as well have been dream mist.

Kouji sighed.

”You can fit anything if you chew enough.”

But he did move to grab the door himself, he was the person who lived here after all. But the only person at the door was a delivery man holding a little kennel to keep a dog in. ”Huh? Who the hell’s the dog from?” He looked around before back at the delivery driver who just shrugged and handed the paperwork to him.

It was one of his old man’s associates from Kanto, some kind of gift? Maybe it was due to some correspondence in the past, but it didn’t matter to Kouji.

He took out the small pokemon, holding him up by the scruff. It was a Growlithe, an adorable one even. The fur was a different colour to the usual, a rarer variant perhaps? ”Oi Dirk, I ain’t much of a fire trainer, you want ‘em?” Kouji asked as he walked back over, kicking the door closed with his leg before he handed the Growlithe over to Dirk.

”You seem like the kind of guy who can take care of a puppy.”

Kouji struggled within himself, it wasn’t what he wanted to see, it should have been him doing this, pushing for this, but after seeing that smile so filled with Resolve, he felt utterly defeated.

He’d lost so many times, but this was the first time Matsubara Kouji had been utterly defeated. He stared at her before he slowly released the breath that had been a lodger in his lungs, a slow release of tension from his shoulders as the bag was now in her hands, he gave her a wry smile, crooked in its sadness.

”Make sure you don’t get yourself killed, I won’t forgive ya if you do. We’ll meet again back at HQ.” He’d do whatever he could otherwise, Kouji knew that the day would come when he’d become someone else, someone different to the person that he was.

But it wouldn’t be tonight, because he lost.

”Tsubaki huh? I won’t forget it, it’d be a tragedy if Kouji Onii-chan forgot that, huh?” He said as he tried to smile properly, but it wouldn’t reach his eyes, it’d be far too embarrassing if he cried right now, he would hate himself even more than he did right now.

He’d continue to brush by Rocket, and she was staying, he was sure they’d see each other again. He prayed, and hoped, that they’d be able to laugh about this the next time that they saw each other.

”Next time we see each other, I promise neither of us’ll be…a monster or a robot.” He said as he stood there, to watch her leave, he dd make a promise at least that he wouldn’t get rid of that most important part again, he wouldn’t kill his emotions. If he was going to kill someone, he’d do it as a human.

It was only thanks to the triangle defence he was using that let him notice the shifting of weight, and Kouji only had moments to defend again, a leg slicer was devastating, it could put a man out for a while just by pain alone.

It was a small movement, keeping his legs together, Kouji pushed off the floor to turn just a bit, and press his back up against Zev, but that was a failure. The only other path was to raise his free leg up, knee towards his chest, and push it through underneath his own calf, to stop the crank before it could get really bad.

He needed his own counter-crank in that moment, his own knee wouldn’t do it from this angle, a triangle wouldn’t do it, so he placed both arms below his knee to pull up now that his foot was hooked around the grabbed leg. It still hurt, but his defence hurt a lot less than not defending at all.

”Well, I ain’t gonna preach to a professional, but I can’t agree with that. If I have to kill someone straight away, I will. But I don’t want to kill a guy without knowing ‘em first, using them as a tool to better myself, become stronger. But more importantly, if I reach the point where I don’t feel anything after killing a guy, I’m pretty much dead inside anyway.” He couldn’t reach his goals that way, each person he killed put more fire into his furnace. He promised back then that he’d never reach the point of becoming a walking corpse.

He needed to get out of this, or else his defences would gradually be broken down.

Kouji picked up the Larvitar as he ran forward, these little fuckers were always way heavier than they looked like. Guess it came with a species that ate mountains to grow up, but then again Kouji made sure to balance himself properly. ”Alright, now do twenty laps around this place and we’ll start properly. While you’re running, I’ll be throwing balls at you, but they’ll be baseballs, so they’ll hurt if they hit ya.”

He put Serizawa back down, as if telling the pokemon to join him.

”You’ll have no shot dodging a bullet or some move, but it’ll help. I’ve got a good fast throw, you can’t really dodge most things after they’re thrown, so preempt this shit, but keep it going.”

But the most important thing was that this would be fun for at least one of them, Kouji went to grab the bucket of baseballs, he’d need to time them well and not have time to load up, changing speeds, changing angles, changing timing.

”Sorry old man, someone as uncultured as yourself ain’t gon be able to pull those tea leaves off properly, leave it to someone with Kantonian roots, aight?” Might as well start the mud throwing match earlier.
